A lot of people like to say that their favorite TOOL song is the one they are listening to right now and there is a lot of truth in that. However The Grudge is special. It's probably my all-time favorite. An astonishing opener to what I consider the greatest album ever made. The last 100 seconds or so still blow my mind over 20 years later.🤯
That was a 25 second scream btw, when I saw them live last year they did the Grudge and Maynard still managed a decent 13 second scream after having COVID twice.
My (current) favorite Tool song is Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned. But I will admit, it is a wild fucking ride, so maybe we should save it for later, lol 😅 When it comes to Tool, I'll find myself picking a new favorite whenever I'm revisiting a certain album of theirs. Also, it helps that each album has a distinct personality and flavor of its own.
22 seconds of a primal let GOOOOOOOOOOOOO … I saw them play this in Dublin Ireland in May 2022. Maynard walked to the back of the podium , grabbed the rails with both hands, looked down, inhaled, walked to the front of the podium and screamed out GOOOOOOOOO … a magic moment in time. Dude you have to listen to Parabol/Parabola BUT DO NOT LOOK AT OFFICIAL VIDEO because it’ll distract from the song 🎶 React to Tool and the Tool army will come … 🌀out 🤘🏼
Glad to see you dive into Tool even more. I think I can call myself a fan and with every listen discovering new things, new meanings, new messages. And the instrumentals...come on... Otherworldly. One of my favs songs are this one, The Patient, Parabol/Parabola/Reflections, Jambi, Invincible and I could name them all at this point hahahah. Keep enjoying the Tool spiral.
Loved the reaction guys. Tool is one of the greatest and most important bands of all time. Maynard's voice is mesmerizing and soul piercing, Danny's drumming is unreal. My favorite tool song is Sober.
Maynard's lyrics are very heavily influenced by the school of Alchemy on this song. I think a lot of people think of alchemists as a King's subject given the task of transmuting lead into gold; or any other lesser metal into a more precious metal. BUT, the true goal of the Alchemist is to transmute his or her attitudes. Transforming the self. Grudges can be transmuted from a major point of contention throughout your life, or you can "LET GO" and transmute that anchor into gold in the process. Speaking more about the weight of the issue (lead/anchor) being transformed into understanding of the issue (gold/light).
Every time I listen to The Grudge, I remember that it is the OPENING track of the album. Really tells you the caliber of the album. One of the greatest of all time.
This is why I call Lateralus their seminal album. Well, that and the utter 'life-coach' feel it gives off. As in: I'll smack you with truth. In your face. Multiple times.
This one and Descending are my two favorites, but for different reasons. There’s about 15-20 more that are damn near as good too. These guys are the truth 🤘👊
i agree with that choice. the drumfills in pneuma during the powerriffs are among my favorite tool-moments, but the grudge is my favorite as a whole song. Descendings mid-section (Sound the dread alarm) is insane though.
THE best drummer on the planet. My favorite bassist alive. The best tones and guitar licks I've ever heard. And then there's Maynard the poet and ultimate lead singer. To sum it up - TOOL!
funny thing is he did pass out in the booth. scream was supposed to be 28 sec. to coinside with the theme of saturn returning every 28 yrs. but he only made it 24 sec. wimp jambi and pushit are very cool
Thank you for bringing us more tool! Hope you guys continue on your tool journey! Can’t go wrong w anything the tool army recommends. Every song is amazing!
Now Im sure, you are both deep in the Tool's rabbit hole :) Off - In The Grudge we have the longest Maynard's scream, over 20 secs :) I know Im not Patreon but if you'd be kind enough reacting to Invincible I'd be very happy :)
Love your reactions!!! I would love to see you react to 7empest from their last album. So much perfection in this song. I‘m sure it will blow your mind. ❤ Stay healthy and happy
My favorite tool song is what ever they are currently playing. I’m not sure what you have done so far, but there is sooooo much goodness. Start with the Aenima album and then Lateralis and then 10,000 days. You will be so happy you took the journey.
this is my favorite song on my favorite album by my favorite band. This is the greatest piece of music ever recorded. When I saw them play this live in 2002, I literally just about creamed my jeans 🤣 #spiralout
Hands down, The Grudge is my favorite Tool song. Another one of my favorites is Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned. It's another one where Danny's drumming will blow your minds. (Worth mentioning, having the lyrics pulled up are definitely a must with this one.) Great reaction! Instant-sub after watching this video. 👏
You can't really go wrong, but some of my favorites (it changes) are Lateralus, Grudge, Parabol/Parabola,Vicarious, Right in Two, Jambi, The Pot. But the best thing to do is listen to all of it starting from the EP!
It's funny that you start out by saying this is a journey because The Grudge highlights the journey going from resentment and holding a grudge to fully letting go. The feeling you had at the end of the song, like you wanted more? It's the first track on the album and it absolutely propells you into listening to more. I highly recommend eating an edible, putting on some headphones and just ride the wave of the Lateralus album. Worth the 78 minutes. I'm a huge Tool fan and my favorite song of theirs is The Patient off Lateralus. Hope you do a reaction on it, it's amazing!
Aside from just being a masterpiece, I've always said that one of the most impressive things about this song is the sheer balls it takes to start an album with a song like this.
Fun Fact: I was born in Kentucky, but raised in Ravenna, Ohio where Maynard was born. When my sister moved out of my dads house in Ravenna she lived with Maynard and his mom before TOOL was even a thing. True Story!!
I never listened to tool growing up and I feel like I missed out. Only heard them on the radio and liked it. But never listened to an album. Winter of 2019 before the Fear Inoculum release I decided to catch up on the band. And since 2019 TOOL hasn't not been in my vehicle cd player. Went to 3 concerts of theirs too. I took my kids and my MOM.... she's been to a pink floyd dark side of the moon concert when she was younger. My mom and my kids still bring up how good the concert was all the time. This band is so talented. And they sound so good. Best metal band of all time in my opinion. And that's not even hard to say.
Descending is my fave Tool song it's off their Fear Inoculum album. If you want a really long song try 7empest off this same album, it's about 16 minutes!
All of them. Depends on how I'm feeling at the time. Wings for Marie pt.1 and 10,000 days played together are currently holding my top spot at the moment.
I hope you are able to add Tool into the mix more often, like weekly?! Tool has been my favorite band since I first picked up Undertow and I knew no one could ever top them. Every album and song is a journey like no other and you won't regret the incredible ride down the rabbit hole with them. I'd love to hear your reaction to Forty Six and 2, it's my favorite song and the lyrics are next level...literally. Great reaction, I hope to see more soon!
Danny has a jazz drumming background. They call him the "Human Octopus". But you guys should listen to The Patient or maybe Disposition and Reflection but only if you listen to them together because they go together. However as a TOOL fan I don't have a favorite song and I'd suggest starting where it began and just going through the whole album.
June 2001, I walk into a FYE music store before my shift at The Cheesecake Factory and they had like 20 or so albums up on the wall with headphones to listen to them before you buy. I see the new Tool album and think the cover art is bizarre yet cool. I toss on the headphones and listen to The Grudge as the album opener. I proceeded to stand there and listen to this whole song thinking it was the best fucking thing I ever heard. Their preceding Aenima album is great but this was just a whole different level of a different kind of awesomeness. I listened to the song 3 times since I couldn’t pause or rewind. I walked in late to my shift because of this song! After I made enough money in tips, I ran over to the store to buy it so it couldn’t sell out. I couldn’t stop listening to it over and over. One of the best songs ever in my humble opinion and I love watching others react to it imagining myself the first time I heard it in that FYE store in 2001. Great reaction!
This song stands out to me regarding tool songs because of its visceral, primal power. It fills the blood stream with determination and the desire to lash out of the cocoon that once protected us but now suffocates us until we let it go and burst out of the karmic loop of tough love lessons. ❤️
The next TOOL song will be your New Favorite TOOL Song!! 😂 Have you heard Ticks and Leeches? Have we listened to Third Eye? Have we checked out The Song H?
The insane scream - 25 seconds of pure gut-wrenching frustration and anger, followed by the most chaotic, jaw-dropping, preposterous outro ever recorded. How can a listener not lose their shit? Still gives me chills after hundreds of listens. 🌀 out!!!
Slipknot's drummer was amazed in 2019 at hearing the new album. He asked Danny how many layers were in his percussion. He said "That's just me"
no wonder. Slipknot does drumming with 2 percussionists in the band haha
He's known as "The Octopus" for a reason...
You mean 3 percussionists. 😆
Still the greatest album opener of all time.
Absolutely right. Intolerance might be up there too.
Yeah, I am thinking Intolerance is a bit better
Even how they open the song to open the album.. the old projector starting up... It's just so good.. so good
I love this one for sure, but my all time favorite album opener is Welcome Back O' Sleeping Dreamer
💯
A lot of people like to say that their favorite TOOL song is the one they are listening to right now and there is a lot of truth in that. However The Grudge is special. It's probably my all-time favorite. An astonishing opener to what I consider the greatest album ever made. The last 100 seconds or so still blow my mind over 20 years later.🤯
🌀🌀🌀✊✊✊ yes
The patient and rosetta stoned are great ones too
@@WhyEatToads TOOL don’t really have bad songs. Love both. Rosetta is crazy in the best way possible.🤘🤘Maybe my second favorite.
The grudge is mine for a long time now.
That was a 25 second scream btw, when I saw them live last year they did the Grudge and Maynard still managed a decent 13 second scream after having COVID twice.
"Schism" and "46&2" is a must.
One of their heavier songs and a stand out on an album of stand outs.
Glad you enjoyed.
Spiral Out!
This is a masterpiece. The profound lyrics, the interwoven music, Maynard's vocals, Danny's drumming...just magnificent
There is nothing like Tool, and for those of us that like the sound, it is ..... I am just so thankful they exist.
My (current) favorite Tool song is Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned.
But I will admit, it is a wild fucking ride, so maybe we should save it for later, lol 😅
When it comes to Tool, I'll find myself picking a new favorite whenever I'm revisiting a certain album of theirs.
Also, it helps that each album has a distinct personality and flavor of its own.
They’re gonna need lyrics for that one. And Valium.
22 seconds of a primal let GOOOOOOOOOOOOO … I saw them play this in Dublin Ireland in May 2022. Worth reading the lyrics. Cheers.
The groove at 5:14 is impossible to not physically move to
And then, on first listen, immediately get confused after the 4th count.
and sinking deeper
Glad you’re creeping back into Tool! As parents, listen to “Jambi.” You can relate. Maynard’s vocals soar, And that bass!
Tool-The Patient is a ripper.
If you do, be sure to do Eon Blue Apocalypse along with it 😉
A bong ripper
An unsung hero of the Tool catalogue!
Must keep reminding myself of this....
No matter how many times I listen to this song, I gradually turn up the volume the entire time
T00L - The Patient & Invincible
Rosetta Stoned is truly special. Keep listening. I have 30 years of Tool listening, so it only gets better.
Descending and Lateralus are my favorite Tool songs but by the smallest degree because every Tool song is great!!
H.
"Rosetta stoned" is one of my favorites. I give it 10.000 out of negative 4°. Gotta listen to the intro track.
UNDERTOW is an earlier album that is my favorite album. Crawl Away, Swap Song, 4° .
Undertow is underrated.
That song tool released somewhere between 1990 and today. That's my favourite tool song.
My favorite part is at 5:14 and 6:51 when that snare drops within that momentary pause. Hard to explain how powerful and impactful it is.
Loved the reaction guys. Tool is one of the greatest and most important bands of all time. Maynard's voice is mesmerizing and soul piercing, Danny's drumming is unreal. My favorite tool song is Sober.
I think the intro is my favorite part in this track. People STILL doing reactions to TOOL makes my heart happy!
Maynard's lyrics are very heavily influenced by the school of Alchemy on this song. I think a lot of people think of alchemists as a King's subject given the task of transmuting lead into gold; or any other lesser metal into a more precious metal.

Great reaction vid. "Pushit" and "Descending" from them are 2 of my favs. So many good ones, can't miss. Spiral out good folks 🤘🏼👁🌀🌀🌀
My two favorites as well.
Gotta listen to Right in Two and the most insane drumming in Ticks and Leeches by The Octapus!
My favorite Tool song is Bottom. It’s a little more angry and straight to the punch. Would love to see you two react to it!
Every Tool fan says the same thing, the last Tool song they heard is their favorite. Trust the Tool Army 🤘🏻🌀
Every time I listen to The Grudge, I remember that it is the OPENING track of the album. Really tells you the caliber of the album. One of the greatest of all time.

1:46 Church? Absolutely!! 😄 And this is the congregation of awakened souls in the presence of musical greatness that we call "TOOL".
Lol..."whats your favorite Tool song?", she says...
Our favorite Tool song is always whichever one we just listened to.
Ticks and Leetches is a really good song off this same album
Thank you for bringing us more tool! Hope you guys continue on your tool journey! Can’t go wrong w anything the tool army recommends. Every song is amazing!

Perfection! 🔥TOOL🤟🏻
Thanks guys, I always enjoy your videos! 😌
Countdown to the scream in 3....2....1....😂
25 seconds in case you're wondering lol
So excited you guys are reacting more to TOOL.
Love your reactions!!! I would love to see you react to 7empest from their last album. So much perfection in this song. I‘m sure it will blow your mind. ❤
Stay healthy and happy

The Grudge, my favorite Tool song. Thanks ✨🖤✨
“This is my favorite TOOL song”.
😂😂😂😂😅😅😂😂.
Welcome to the 🌀.
The Patient is a great journey!!! I would love to see you two do that one!!!
Right in two is my current fav. Whatever tool song you heard last seems to be your fav at any given time. In my experience anyway. 😊
Drop the needle on their first track of their first EP and don't stop until you Hit the last track on their last LP! 🤞✌
this is my favorite song on my favorite album by my favorite band. This is the greatest piece of music ever recorded. When I saw them play this live in 2002, I literally just about creamed my jeans 🤣 #spiralout
Yep, saw em in my hometown twice, nine months apart, 01 and 02
Schism
H
Stinkfist
Rosetta stoned are my favorites right now. But let me listen to their discography for the 1000th time and that will change again.
One of my top three favorite songs
Ænima us prolly my favorite song of all time, and I've been listening to TOOL since '93
Descending from their latest album is quite the ride
Hands down, The Grudge is my favorite Tool song. Another one of my favorites is Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned. It's another one where Danny's drumming will blow your minds. (Worth mentioning, having the lyrics pulled up are definitely a must with this one.)
Great reaction! Instant-sub after watching this video. 👏

Descending is my favourite you really go on a journey with that one... They are all great though this one is a close second
It's funny that you start out by saying this is a journey because The Grudge highlights the journey going from resentment and holding a grudge to fully letting go. Also, I agree with other comments. This is one of the top 3 or 5 greatest albums of all time. It belongs with Dark Side of the Moon and Abby Road
Fun Fact: I was born in Kentucky, but raised in Ravenna, Ohio where Maynard was born. When my sister moved out of my dads house in Ravenna she lived with Maynard and his mom before TOOL was even a thing. True Story!!
Descending is one of my Favourites, but have lots of Favourites. 46/2 is another . Right in two .. the list goes on
REFLECTION is my favorite lateralus album song.
I never listened to tool growing up and I feel like I missed out. Only heard them on the radio and liked it. But never listened to an album. TOOL ARMY!
Lmao 😝 the song did what it suppose to do, she was mesmerized and man you awwed at the power of it💪 👽
Descending is my fave Tool song it's off their Fear Inoculum album. If you want a really long song try 7empest off this same album, it's about 16 minutes!
you may disagree but, no other band comes even close to Tool, in terms of creativity, complexity and epicness.
Tool makes me feel funny inside lol. Maynard sings so well in any way from soft to guttural. Great band
46 & 2. The drum solo alone towards the end will blow your minds.
Ænema, Jimmy, The Pot, and Invincible are all great songs to check out
Tool is my favorite group of all time. Favorite two songs are the pot and jambi. I highly recommend this group. Cheers !!. Great reaction
Tool is 4 artists who are masters of their craft
you guys look pleasantly fried. lol this one of my favorite tool songs. Feels like floating to me.
June 2001, I walk into a FYE music store before my shift at The Cheesecake Factory and they had like 20 or so albums up on the wall with headphones to listen to them before you buy. Tool is like watching an opera, while riding a roller coaster, on DMT.
This song stands out to me regarding tool songs because of its visceral, primal power. It fills the blood stream with determination and the desire to lash out of the cocoon that once protected us but now suffocates us until we let it go and burst out of the karmic loop of tough love lessons. ❤️
Sooo many great ones. Right in Two is right up there though. A masterpiece.
No 3 minute pop singles BS from them. True to their craft. Yes each one of them r perfectionist, IMO
Any Tool is great Tool but start from the beginning of their discography and work your way through, trust me.and the Tool army
Tool- Jambi. So heavy, great lyrics
best reaction to the 25sec scream ever
So fill a dart board with all the Tool songs you havent listened to in each slot. Stand back and throw a dart and youll hit a great Tool song!
The next TOOL song will be your New Favorite TOOL Song!! 😂
Have you heard Ticks and Leeches? Have we listened to Third Eye? Have we checked out The Song H?
Descending next it's my favorite song it's longer and I would love you two too hear it
Can't really say I have a favorite but the song that hooked me for life was H
Vicarious . Parabol - Parabola . Descending . Invincible ...
My favorite tool song is All of them
@9:12 25 second scream… fuxk yeah Maynard!!🤘🏻
2:55 "What the hell was that?"
I read in an interview at the time that Adam Jones made that sound with an Epilady on the guitar strings.
Throw a dart at their 30 year discography and you'll hit a masterpiece...👍
Keep listening it evolves ❤
Hell yea! TOOL deep dive!!!!!
Tool - Invincible
If you're gonna do a deep dive as Chels suggested start at the beginning and work your way through...You'll be stunned...I assure you.
The insane scream - 25 seconds of pure gut-wrenching frustration and anger, followed by the most chaotic, jaw-dropping, preposterous outro ever recorded. How can a listener not lose their shit? Still gives me chills after hundreds of listens. 🌀 out!!!
You guys would love this album in its entirety.
Third Eye, Flood, and Wings for Marie pt 2 have got to be my favorites...
