I like how she's not even in denial about how gross it is
Kimberly N'da lol same
I wouldn't be either..😂😂
Unlike most vegans
Bunga Rin- Most vegans wouldn’t try to make “chicken tenders” out of grapefruit peels lol
I tried them they are so unbearably bitter. You would have to soak or boil them for a few days to take out the bitterness
Me: Mom can we get chicken tenders
Mom: We have chicken tenders at home
Chicken tenders at home:
Lmao
😭😭
A grapefruit 🍊😋 lol
“A for effort, B for bitter” I can’t 😂😂
Me literally any time Merle and Aria are on screen together: THEY ARE IN L O V E
Llol me too😁
THEY SURE ARE
wait are they though? im never sure if it's that or bffs (which i know it can be both lol but, y'know, bffs vs romantic) sorry im kinda a newcomer
albatross yeah they are dating
Which one is aria? Merle is the girl, right?
I made this... Removed all of the orange zest, soaked overnight, squeezed juice, rinsed it, soaked in marinade, fried it with seasoning... Did everything right. Smelled great. Looked great. Tasted SUPER BITTER
MooWillow 😂😂😂
Soak the pith in salt water overnight next time
Kimathi Washington oh, that's a good idea. I soaked it in sugar water
@@chrysanthy counter bitterness with salt, not sugar 😊
Kimathi Washington Okay! Next time I get the chance, I should try this. I can update if you want, but might take a long time lol
don't mind me, I'm just here to see if the cute asian guy flirts with her
436 like and no comments?
It is because we all agree.......
Dudegetout Why its cause we’re all just silently nodding
The one with the glasses or the one with the grey shirt ?? 😂😂
There are more than one asian guy....
"if you arent vegan u can use eggs" no no if iam not vegan im using CHICKEN

Literally what does she have to do w/ this?
@@lilyjr.1384 You've never seen the vine have you?
@@fubbypeets7058 Nope
Lmao love it how I can hear Kylie’s voice in that sentence 🤣
RiSe aNd ShInE!
Girl no! Should have removed outermost layer(it is cause for that weird yellow color) and let white part sit in salt water overnight to remove bitterness. At least that is what i would do.
Emily Che I mean she did the methods that the other used. So she didn’t know.
Yeah when I saw she only just dipped it into vinegar I was like nooooo
@The Truth 💀💀💀💀
I would just have some chicken
With a healthy variety of seasonings like Chipotle pepper, paprika, black pepper, and onion salt.
Why do people suggest outrageous substitutes that even vegans won't use it? Also, she should have left those peels in that vinegar to fully neutralize the grapefruit taste.
purely for entertainment 😂
an acid wont neutralise an acid. it needs to be salt water thats neutral or something
Apparently this is an actual recipe from an area that was in a financial depression and meat was scarce and expensive.🤷♀️
Neamhdhlisteanach bitter is alkaline which is why they used vinegar to neutralize it
This isn't an outrageous substitute. It originated in Cuba where some people struggle to survive and find food. It wasn't made to be vegan, it was made to feed starving people who were craving meat but could not afford it. When people live in scarcity, they use whatever they can and they become as creative as possible.
“You don’t know what pamplemousse is?” Had me dying😂😂😂
A for effort
B for bitter
C for citrus
D for definitely not chicken
E for eww
F for fruit
G for grapefruit
Thank you that is the alphabet of grapefruit chicken
😂
A for effort how is a for effort?
affort?
H for Heck no
I for I wouldn't try
J for Almost a Joke
K for No kill recipe
L for Like the video
M for Mayo but vegan
N for Never try this
O for Oh No
P for Piece of sh*t
Q for Qween
R for ridiculous
S for sour
T for Tastes bitter
U for u should never try it
I’ve tried most of these recipes, and while they are ok, have no nutritional value. (As a vegan) I think vegan food is much better when it’s just its own thing instead of trying to imitate meat.
Edit: thanks for all the likes and different opinions in the comments!
I am not vegan, but vegetarian but I totally agree with you ❤.
Yeah i think they there just to keep the craving away
I agree. Whenever you put "fake meat" or some title like that, people will rarely aproach it with open mind. They will expect meat umami experience and point out how vegetarian food is subpar.
Yes your right when i was vegan.. Not anymore dont kill me. But meat substitutes sucked so much not even worth money nor effort.
Abigail Kueter I think you mean “imitate” meat not “intimate” 😂 sry i usually do not act like a human dictionary but “intimate meat” just sounded rly weird and funny to me 😂😂😂
Aria: (is trying really hard to say something good/positive)
Aria: (can't think of literally anything)
Aria: LiFe iS aBoUt...
About 47 minutes ago I started watching this series with her making coconut calamari strips... and here we are ... no regrets.
Coworker: *feeds me vegan grapefruit chicken*
Me: *calling HR*

Hey!!! Its Mark from SAUCE STACHE hahahaha thanks for making this!!
ohhh Thanks for making it WAY WRONG hahah
LMFAO 😂 heyyy sauce stache
@@SauceStache I can't imagine why this version went sideways...
@sause stache where did she go wrong lol
@@bernicejeffrey7416 She had to soak it in salt water to remove the bitterness. It takes the taste of the grapefruit out and neutralizes everything.
i love that vegan food can be so delicious and nutritious and good. but then you get videos like this that prove its not all good 😂
😂
So freakin true
It's because she did it wrong. She cooked the skin instead of the meat like membrane attached to it... Any peel will be gross to eat it is compost.
It's obvious there are bad vegan food too. There are very bad plant-based ingredients, health-wise or taste-wise. Especially if one tries odd things for some reason... Enjoy the good ones! It's fun to try things now and then but yep, they aren't always successful...
The Truth ahh internet troll. did a vegan hurt your feelings on the internet onetime now you hate anything that has to do along with it? or are you just trying to find a reason to be pissed off?
dude merle blushes so hard when shes talking to aria they're the best
Your honesty is refreshing, Thank you
I knew this video was familiar! It reminds me of Emmy’s video, grapefruit peel steak (bistec de toronja)! She also said that it the bitter taste is also quite pronounced!
There’s actually history behind this dish (which I can’t really put into word better than Emmy can) so if y’all interested in the origin of this dish, I definitely recommend watching Emmy’s video! It really gives you perspective about the dish as more than just being a vegan alternative to meat.
i was looking for this comment, thank you !! -3-
I love Emmy!!!
Thank you for sharing this, it's not supposed to be a vegan substitute, it's supposed to feed starving children
who is emmy?
T H emmymadeinjapan is a UA-camr who focuses on food. The video she did on this is from her "Hard Times" series in which she tests recipes from times of scarcity.
“This isn’t good but I’m still gonna feed it to my co workers” lmao
“I can’t believe you made me eat that”
2 mins later....
“That was great I can’t wait for anything else she makes”
That guy who said Pamplemousse is definitely Canadian
"These look like something!"
Me every time after attempting to cook on my own. For real though, I appreciate that not even Merle tries to pretend it turned out fine 😀
few moments later, if goodful changes their channel name to "goodpeel", i wouldnt be surprised

Her friends are so nice lol everyone needs friends like hers
"It's only a matter of time before people just stop inviting me to dinner parties" XD
This is the most entertaining goodful video I ever watched ♥
If I were her friend, I'd never eat anything homemade out of fear. LOL
It would’ve been nice for you to recognize the history of this dish (bistec de toronja) which was eaten by poor Cubans during times of food scarcity.

A for effort
B for bitter got me 😂😂😂😂
I did community service in south kalimantan, Indonesia. The people love to eat whats called mandai, its basically cooked cempedak peels (a fruit that is very similar to jackfruit but a lot sweeter). It tasted sour and salty but fresh at the same time. Kinda have similar feelings with kimchi. But the texture resembles chicken tender.
I love her evil cackling as her friends taste it.
She is so honest I love it
You and Chef out of water are my SUPER DUPER FAVORITE UA-cam SHOWS.
5:03 "lets just enjoy their pain"
i felt that.
Honestly Merle is such a doll😻
I LOVED THIS! The reactions were priceless!!
Her personality is so chill and fun wowww 🤩
no one:
goodful: always ends merle videos with aria
Merle tries vegan "chicken tenders"
Merle says "That is so bad!"
...and then proceeds to feed it to friends.
Merle's smile is just perfection.
LOOOOOOOL.
Merle : I’m so sorry
Red shirt guy: ME TOO 😂😂😂😂😂
"im soo sorry"..."me too" LOLLLLLLLL
Deep frying mayonnaise seems like a terrible idea
Americans have Deep Fried Butter at State Fairs.
recoil53 butter and mayonnaise are different
recoil53 d
idk about vegan mayonaise, but non vegan mayo is like 9 to 1 oil to egg yolk and to oil so it's fine unless you want to keep the mayo texture.
I love that you admit failing but keep going you are amazing!
I need more of these videos
“It looks like some kind of dead thing.”
->A dead fruit.
He's dead Jim
You probably should let it marinade in non chicken bouillon stock for at least 24 hours and made a cut in the middle of the pith instead of the sides, but I most likely would not try this recipe for sure lmao 😂.
I love her look in this one! That denim vest fits her like a glove!
They keep it real on how it taste lol. Love watching these videos
“Let’s just enjoy their pain”
I like herrr
There reactions were priceless lol
I love how honest they are though😂
This was soooo funny! I'm glad they didn't scrap this episode because it didn't come out tasting good. I was literally laughing out loud lol. It fun seeing them all eat it lol. The one guy who was so kind is the mood.
the guy who guessed the grapefruit correctly was so nice and sweet!
I LIVEEE for these uploads 🤣🤣🤣
Her: “If you’re not vegan and you don’t care...”
Me: “there’s no way in hell I’m making this” 😂
If I'm not vegan, I just do it with real chicken tenders
"Oh would you look at that. So BeAuTiFuL" continues to throw the actual edible part of the fruit
"Death comes to us all"
😂
I made this from a different recipe and it was really convincing and good
the content i never knew i needed.
Merle and that asian guy talked like they're in a relationship or something hahahahahah
Or I'm just shipping them so bad🤣
Ken Flor i feel the same in every video
Yah, i noticed that too. Haha 😂
There was more than one
Merle and Aria have been circling each other for several videos (probably most of summer) now.
I just want them to do something about it one way or another. A few months of this has probably been a bit much for their co-workers.
The one wearing glass or the softer good-looking one? Which Asian guys??? I wanna guess but i saw them both the same something with Merle..
I have bad memories with grapefruit thanks to the internet
tragic a39 technique
All of her friends tried to say positive things about her food even though she knew it was bad. That's sweet af.
That was the so great to watch! And even though I know it’ll taste bad, I kinda want to make it anyway.
THE ASIAN DUDE WITH GLASSES WAS SOOO NICE AND ENJOYED THE WHOLE THING
“I’m so sorry”
“ME TOO”
We Vietnamese made sweet soup treat out of pomelo peel to, and to get rid of the bitterness we soak them in salted water for about 30min beforehand, then rinse them then blanch them too. It's quite a bit of heavy work tho!
I'm glad she is honest about it. Most people would have said it was good to save face and the platform.
Where’s Julien when you need him 😂😂 love to see this in Aries kitchen
Merle goes red from trying not to laugh too much
-me 2k19 trying not to snort after seeing this video.
Oohh.. just another Aria and Merle treat! Thanks guys. This got me learning and laughing.
Not just Aria and Merle, but his co workers are really great sport. Credits to you guys. You all make this and all other videos great! Love your work! :)

we need a merle x rie crossover, the visuals of these two is over 9000
She should make a really good delicious meal so her co workers don’t lose hope
Everyone was so nice! Even though it was terrible, everyone was courteous.
You and your friends are so hilarious. Enjoying your videos

Pamplemousse . Fascinating
Wow, a very interesting way to go. Nice!
pomelo might work better - more of the white part and the rind isn't as citrusy
