Wait, pause... cuz I used to work at PF chang's and I'm 99% sure this isn't true. For example - there was some curry dish that could be made VEGETARIAN by using tofu but it had milk or something in the sauce. I believe some of those sauces ain't vegan.

Whenever a menu says “Veggie” burger instead of vegan, always ask if there is egg in the ingredients. A lot of “veggie burgers” use egg as a binder. There was even a so-called Plant-based menu at a restaurant called Dog Haus and they have non-vegan cheese on the plant based options. Very deceiving, so be careful. It should say Vegetarian instead. I feel like I have to be an annoying detective or pretend I have a severe allergy in order to get honest answers sometimes.
I just recently went to Cheesecake Factory and ordered their "veggie burger", unknowingly I ate egg after finding the mayo I asked to not be in there. The waiter came back and I told him I had an egg allergy, he then told me that the veggie burger actually had egg inside of it!! I was disgusted that I had eaten chicken fetus >

Same thing with frozen products too ! I've seen Marie calendars makes pot pies with beyond or something and it is placed with the other vegan stuff and the words: plant based meat ! Is so large but the sauces are not vegan.
Yep. Sometimes it’s not deception, but lack of understanding.
Those impossible Pattie’s have ingredients tested on animals in order to pass certain food regulations. The burgers they had at cheesecake shop looked like brioche buns. Not vegan.
The soup in bread at the beginning might have been made with animal based stock.
I’m super untrustworthy and suspicious of all this stuff because I’ve even bought stuff where the label suggests it will be vegan, but when you check the manufacturers website, it says otherwise as sometimes labels will have errors. How do I know? Because when I’ve opened the packaging I can smell animal fats. Then when I investigated further, I was right.
This is why I always say, if you want to eat vegan you either cook at home to guarantee it, or eat out at a purely 100% vegan establishment. Everything else is pot luck because the servers likely don’t think about dairy or egg in buns, meat in a soup broth, etc. and it’s likely cooked on the same hot plate or in the same pans as every other menu item in the establishment.

Right. Your average employee at restaurants have to ask someone what is vegan most of the time. A guy at Taco Bell asked me what dairy is (I said: "No dairy. Fresco style." and he looked like he was in his 20s. Fresco is "no dairy" at Taco Bell.

That eggplant from PfChangs was my standard takeaway order, and their tofu lettuce wraps are da bomb!

I wish I hadn't been "forced" to eat meat when I was little. It literally made me gag many times.
Usually parents always choose what their kids eat, so making vegan food for one's children is not "forcing" anything on them anymore than meat-eater cooking meat for their children is.
Animal products are full of unhealthy fats, hormones, carsinogens and host of other toxins, which are not exactly ideal for human (or children's) health.

I feel you on the cheese thing. . I’ve been subbing tofu for egg in most dishes (I’ve heard JustEgg is a great sub though) and I actually found some really good dairy free yogurt from yoplait. Tbh….I started eating vegan this year but I slipped a lot when it came to cheese, lol. But, after 9 months I can say it doesn’t call to me as much anymore. I haven’t found a good cheddar alternative but CHAO cheese is banger for grilled cheese. And I’ve been topping every pasta dish with Follow your heart feta…it’s crazy how similar to texture and taste is to real feta. Also,if you haven’t tried the miyoko’s lox cream cheese…You NEED to. I was a big smoked salmon bagel lover and it really hits the spot for me. I can finish that tub in a week. The same goes for their butter, I usually use earth balance but the miyoko’s brand is way creamier if you’re a big fan of butter’s flavor. Just a few brands that might change your mind about going vegan, not trying not pressure you though.

I have been seeing this in my recommendations for awhile. I finally watched it and glad. I enjoyed both of them. Tabitha gave it that extra something that made me smile.
The whole FEEL of this video was fantastic - two good friends, eating good food, getting great service; I didn't miss meat or eggs or honey ONCE watching this (and I'm about as non-vegetarian as it gets! Where I live in India it's possible to eat vegan and not really change your diet or local foods at all - we just naturally have a lot of fantastic vegetable dishes and vegetarian products). Just goes to prove that vegan/veggie food can be intrinsically amazing, without ever having to sub things on a non-veg meal. LOVE this style of eating out!

There is a difference between vegan and vegetarian. Most non-meaters in India are vegetarian not vegan because they still consume a lot of dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese. The dairy industry is just as cruel as the beef industry.

That Panera cashier actually learned the menu; I can guarantee 90% of Panera cashiers DGAF about learning the menu so good luck with that.

All 3 of the Panera locations near me all have decently friendly and educated staff. Don’t know where you’re getting your Panera at, but if your service is that bad, then I suggest you file a complaint. It’s literally their job to know what they are serving you and to serve it to you with a decent attitude. I 100% will not deal with a place that serves food and has poor customer courtesy or food service issues. I will take it higher up in the chain, or I simply won’t return. I treat those that handle my food respectfully so as a paying customer, I expect my food and myself to be treated the same. Those people who “DGAF” can be easily replaced by someone who will happily work hard to make the money that they are.

Last time I went to Panera and asked what was gluten free, they handed me a giant binder and said I could look through it. They mark vegetarian things on their menu, but not gf. This was many years ago, though.

PF Chang’s oyster sauce is actually vegan. It is made with mushrooms instead of any shellfish/seafood.

The Marketing Coordinator at P.F. Chang’s told us in August 2012 that he would contact Chang’s Culinary Department to determine if the oyster sauce was animal-based. The Culinary Department relayed to him that: “…all of our vegetarian-marked items on our menu do not contain any seafood or animal products. Our ‘Vegetarian Oyster Sauce’ is actually made with mushrooms and no actual oyster or shellfish.”
The VRG also asked the Marketing Coordinator at P.F. Chang’s if any of the menu items noted as “vegetarian” contained honey, egg, or dairy ingredients. He assured us: “No, they do not, and as long as cane sugar is not an issue all of the items marked ‘vegetarian’ on our menu can also be considered ‘vegan.’”

I’ve always loved PF Chang’s, I’m from Mexico and now that I’m vegan I only order the spring rolls and Buddha feast (not complaining, that’s more than enough), I’ll see if they have the other options too:)

I found a dairy free cheese cake recipe online out of cauliflower and cashews and it tasted just like the original cheese cake. Pro: It was actually delicious. Con: It took a long time to make (Moral of the story, It can be done)

I feel like this is secretly an ad for the 3 restaurants. Usually, restaurants wouldn't allow cameras but here, the cameras are professionally set up.
They probably sent out emails to local places telling them what they are doing and probably asked if they had vegan options (cause a restaurant doesn’t want to appear non-vegan on something going on the internet). They scheduled times and take them to a secluded area so they aren’t disturbed. The boss probably told what workers to be where and did a crash course on whats vegan.

I love hearing how taitha and her daughter are vegans but her husband and son are not. Because it proves that she is someone who doesn’t push her beliefs on the people around her, I love those kind of people. And it reminds me of me talking to my boyfriend (of 3 years) and I told him that I’ve been kind of experimenting with vegetarian/vegan food and I’ve been loving it so far and he told me how he completely encourages me and respects my choices if I do decide to become vegetarian/vegan , even though he is a big meat lover himself. It means a lot to me cause I tried going vegetarian in middle school and people/“friends” were so mean to me but he is so supportive of me

I'm really REALLY grateful when restaurants put a little logo/mark next to the item on the menu that indicates that it's vegan. also I love when they list ingredients, so that I know what I can ask to swap out immediately

Another tip: look up menus online on the website. There are times when they have a vegetarian/vegan menu. They usually only provide a regular menu when you sit down unless you ask for the vegan menu specifically.
