There was even a so-called Plant-based menu at a restaurant called Dog Haus and they have non-vegan cheese on the plant based options. Very deceiving, so be careful. It should say Vegetarian instead. I feel like I have to be an annoying detective or pretend I have a severe allergy in order to get honest answers sometimes.
I just recently went to Cheesecake Factory and ordered their "veggie burger", unknowingly I ate egg after finding the mayo I asked to not be in there. The waiter came back and I told him I had an egg allergy, he then told me that the veggie burger actually had egg inside of it!! I was disgusted that I had eaten chicken fetus >
Same thing with frozen products too ! I've seen Marie calendars makes pot pies with beyond or something and it is placed with the other vegan stuff and the words: plant based meat ! Is so large but the sauces are not vegan.
Yep. Sometimes it’s not deception, but lack of understanding. Those impossible Pattie’s have ingredients tested on animals in order to pass certain food regulations. The burgers they had at cheesecake shop looked like brioche buns. Not vegan. The soup in bread at the beginning might have been made with animal based stock. I’m super untrustworthy and suspicious of all this stuff because I’ve even bought stuff where the label suggests it will be vegan, but when you check the manufacturers website, it says otherwise as sometimes labels will have errors. How do I know? Because when I’ve opened the packaging I can smell animal fats. Then when I investigated further, I was right. This is why I always say, if you want to eat vegan you either cook at home to guarantee it, or eat out at a purely 100% vegan establishment. Everything else is pot luck because the servers likely don’t think about dairy or egg in buns, meat in a soup broth, etc. and it’s likely cooked on the same hot plate or in the same pans as every other menu item in the establishment.
I don't dislike salads, but I don't like to go out and spend $8 on some dry lettuce just bc they have nothing else I can eat when I could make something good at home for cheaper, ya feel?

The whole FEEL of this video was fantastic - two good friends, eating good food, getting great service; I didn't miss meat or eggs or honey ONCE watching this (and I'm about as non-vegetarian as it gets! Where I live in India it's possible to eat vegan and not really change your diet or local foods at all - we just naturally have a lot of fantastic vegetable dishes and vegetarian products). Just goes to prove that vegan/veggie food can be intrinsically amazing, without ever having to sub things on a non-veg meal. LOVE this style of eating out!

@Srionti Maitra There is a difference between vegan and vegetarian. Most non-meaters in India are vegetarian not vegan because they still consume a lot of dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese. The dairy industry is just as cruel as the beef industry.

All 3 of the Panera locations near me all have decently friendly and educated staff. Don’t know where you’re getting your Panera at, but if your service is that bad, then I suggest you file a complaint. It’s literally their job to know what they are serving you and to serve it to you with a decent attitude. I 100% will not deal with a place that serves food and has poor customer courtesy or food service issues. I will take it higher up in the chain, or I simply won’t return. I treat those that handle my food respectfully so as a paying customer, I expect my food and myself to be treated the same. Those people who “DGAF” can be easily replaced by someone who will happily work hard to make the money that they are.

Last time I went to Panera and asked what was gluten free, they handed me a giant binder and said I could look through it. They mark vegetarian things on their menu, but not gf. This was many years ago, though.

They probably sent out emails to local places telling them what they are doing and probably asked if they had vegan options (cause a restaurant doesn’t want to appear non-vegan on something going on the internet). They scheduled times and take them to a secluded area so they aren’t disturbed. The boss probably told what workers to be where and did a crash course on whats vegan.
That is the brightest Cheesecake Factory I've ever seen. Edit: It has come to my attention that they may be outside. This Cheesecake Factory is no longer special.
Another tip: look up menus online on the website. There are times when they have a vegetarian/vegan menu. They usually only provide a regular menu when you sit down unless you ask for the vegan menu specifically.

There's nothing worse than going out to eat and the only vegan option is a lame iceberg house salad. Usually for $12+. I could eat that at home for a fraction of the cost and add all my vegan touches to it. Many restaurants just lack creativity in their vegan options.
I’ve always loved PF Chang’s, I’m from Mexico and now that I’m vegan I only order the spring rolls and Buddha feast (not complaining, that’s more than enough), I’ll see if they have the other options too:)

As crazy as the US is- I love the customer service in restaurants. It’s very common to nit pick and take things off your order/add things to it/ share a portion plus you usually get free water. In Germany it is possible to alter menu options but it’s not as common and you never get a free drink. When you go to Japan, just forget about altering anything of your order. It’s a nightmare for vegans, not to mention that most people don’t even know what vegetarian means. If you say no meat and fish they’ll give you crab and shrimp 🤦🏼♀️
You know what I've heard from people in the US that visit central or South America? That they hate customer service in the states 😂 at least in comparison to down here as places such as burger King, McDonald's or fast food restaurants have amazing employees who always smile and care. I love hearing how taitha and her daughter are vegans but her husband and son are not. Because it proves that she is someone who doesn’t push her beliefs on the people around her, I love those kind of people. And it reminds me of me talking to my boyfriend (of 3 years) and I told him that I’ve been kind of experimenting with vegetarian/vegan food and I’ve been loving it so far and he told me how he completely encourages me and respects my choices if I do decide to become vegetarian/vegan , even though he is a big meat lover himself. It means a lot to me cause I tried going vegetarian in middle school and people/“friends” were so mean to me but he is so supportive of me

I'm just sad because places like Cheesecake Factory can vary depending on where you live. In my area they don't just have vegan swaps on hand so it's kind of frustrating plus they do not have the impossible burger but that salad is bomb. I found that salad a year ago and I've loved it ever since.

I feel like this is secretly an ad for the 3 restaurants. Usually, restaurants wouldn't allow cameras but here, the cameras are professionally set up.
They probably sent out emails to local places telling them what they are doing and probably asked if they had vegan options (cause a restaurant doesn’t want to appear non-vegan on something going on the internet). They scheduled times and take them to a secluded area so they aren’t disturbed. The boss probably told what workers to be where and did a crash course on whats vegan.
They ask ahead of time and also usually film before opening or after closing so they don't bother any customers

Another tip: look up menus online on the website. There are times when they have a vegetarian/vegan menu. They usually only provide a regular menu when you sit down unless you ask for the vegan menu specifically.

There's nothing worse than going out to eat and the only vegan option is a lame iceberg house salad. Usually for $12+. I could eat that at home for a fraction of the cost and add all my vegan touches to it.

I’ve always loved PF Chang’s, I’m from Mexico and now that I’m vegan I only order the spring rolls and Buddha feast (not complaining, that’s more than enough), I’ll see if they have the other options too:)

As crazy as the US is- I love the customer service in restaurants. It’s very common to nit pick and take things off your order/add things to it/ share a portion plus you usually get free water. In Germany it is possible to alter menu options but it’s not as common and you never get a free drink. When you go to Japan, just forget about altering anything of your order. It’s a nightmare for vegans, not to mention that most people don’t even know what vegetarian means. If you say no meat and fish they’ll give you crab and shrimp 🤦🏼♀️
You know what I've heard from people in the US that visit central or South America? That they hate customer service in the states 😂 at least in comparison to down here as places such as burger King, McDonald's or fast food restaurants have amazing employees who always smile and care. How is it where you live?

I love hearing how taitha and her daughter are vegans but her husband and son are not. Because it proves that she is someone who doesn’t push her beliefs on the people around her, I love those kind of people. And it reminds me of me talking to my boyfriend (of 3 years) and I told him that I’ve been kind of experimenting with vegetarian/vegan food and I’ve been loving it so far and he told me how he completely encourages me and respects my choices if I do decide to become vegetarian/vegan , even though he is a big meat lover himself. It means a lot to me cause I tried going vegetarian in middle school and people/“friends” were so mean to me but he is so supportive of me

I'm just sad because places like Cheesecake Factory can vary depending on where you live. In my area they don't just have vegan swaps on hand so it's kind of frustrating plus they do not have the impossible burger but that salad is bomb. I found that salad a year ago and I've loved it ever since.

Denise yessss i use to work at one in San Antonio and it is not vegan or even vegetarian friendly really at all and the veggie burger at my restaurant at least wasn’t vegan bc the beans were not cooked in a vegetable broth

I'm really REALLY grateful when restaurants put a little logo/mark next to the item on the menu that indicates that it's vegan. also I love when they list ingredients, so that I know what I can ask to swap out immediately
