Great to see a video on this Troybilt log splitter! I have a late 70's Troybilt Horse tiller with the PTO switch too, and I'd love to find one of these log splitters. The young fella did a fine job of controlling the splitter! Thanks for the video!
Rebuilding one just like this only in tiller. Didn't know it was that vintage. Had to put a new axelshft in it so the main box came down to bare bones. It looks brand new. Painted it with tractor supply Massey Ferguson red. Need to get two rims for the new AG tires. Got a engine guard coming which was never on it and took Kohler 8 hp off and put new predator engine on it. Think I'll paint the guard shiny black to acent the red.
Having grown up in the 70s this proves what I remember- people had stronger backs in the 70s. Splitting all day bent over like this is something I could not do anymore. Great old machine.
Hello yesterday just got a Troy Built that has same control's as yours an has a 8 horse Kohler engine and came with the blade.Owner said had not ran for over 10 years .Well we got it FREE and about 1 hr later purrs like a kitten .My son has a BIG smile .Good job son 🤗p.s. more story's to come thank for your video
That lever engages and disengages the PTO. The wheels are engaged and disengaged with the long lever between the handles on the tiller. Down is forward and up is reverse. The PTO must be engaged for the implement to operate. I have my dads tiller it’s 36 years old and runs as good as new!
Hello about 15 years ago bought what what they call the bronco or little pony with 5 horse Honda engine .But I still love the mid 70 's older Troy Built they are the TILLING machine and alot heavier when I do a garden spot it is just like the adds show .🤗🇺🇸
Hello in the mid 1970 s bought a new from the factory 6 horse Tecumseh Troy Built price was 600 or 800 not sure .Back then had over 30 customer's each year . They are a fabulous tiller .p.s.Have an enjoyable time with yours 🇺🇸🤔👌
@@mtwz71 I couldn't agree more. But I think they're really starting to have a comeback. Necessity is the mother of invention. As we get closer and closer to tougher times we're having to create solutions that help us out in more affordable ways. These cool little machines came out during a time when people knew what struggling was all about. I think we're about to get that very same lesson.
@@mtwz71northern tool has the RED HORSE very similar as original but they cut corners from the original. Believe it's mostly internal in the gear bog and the tzilshaft and gearbox are all one. No two bolts and the back half come off .other then that it just like the older ones except. 3200.00 coins now
Your boy did a GREAT job!!
Thank you so very much for the kind words he had a great time helping his papaw.

Thank you very much. That’s my son pulling the lever. He’s split lots of fire wood.

I totally understand that. My dad still gets around pretty good but, my son and I use this splitter more than dad does. It’s truly a great machine.

@@lynn4205 I’ll have to take a look at one of those. I’m sure it’s no where the quality.
Okay video. However, somewhat lacking in detail info.
