After doing a bit of reading the mk1 MR2 from the factory was setup with negative rake, not positive. This could be the cause of vague rear end I talk about in the video. I may do a follow up video on getting the setup dialed in, but will put anything I find out in response here. Happy driving everyone!
Hey Vic, I also have a track day AW11, also red, but 1986, I was at Combe this Monday. Are you on FB? Id like to compare notes as Im looking to create a handling monster! I have some videos uploaded of my car from last year
@@vicsprojects unfortunately I don't have an Instagram, any other way to get in touch? I'm trying to work out what to do with damper travel.. at the moment I only have 2cm of rebound travel at the front, which I think is messing things up for me
Why did you measure the height front and back from the car trim rather than the center of the bolt that attach the lower arm to the frame, and Toyotas recommends 8inch or 20cm.
@@vicsprojects Yeah its from the green book, manualslib.com, I thought you may have had a different reason. I have 2 '89 mr2 track cars and I dropped one in the front by 1 inch and it made a big difference , I think it makes the car much more stable on entry into corners.
@@tonyodonnell7189 I'd be really interested to hear how yours is setup (hight F+R, relative damping, ARB, critical geometry angles) as mine is currently not feeling great
@@vicsprojects I keep it simple, stock or koni shocks, whiteline arb max setting, complete pollybush, moved fuel filler to boot and 2nd air intake to left side which gives better high speed stability, and use TRD settings of camber F -2 Rear -1, Toe in front 1/8, Toe out Rear 1/8 with max caster +5 if possible , 15inch tyres on track 16 in of track, last thing I will do is 2 naca ducts at front hood to compensate light front end. I will get you the exact measurement Front and Rear of car, along with strut bar in engine bay I have found this to give the max stability on track.
They are D2 racing, pretty cost effective for the little track day events that we do. If you're going full race then I'd probably spend a bit more money. d2racingsport.eu/coilovers
Hi I also have an mr2 and noticed that when ever it rains I get water on the floor under the pedals. To stop the rain water coming in I leave a pastic foil over the winsacreen wiper and air vent area and it stops the leak. I haven,t started to look for the leak source yet but can you tell me how you fixed your leak. Thanks
Hey, sorry to hear you have a leak as well. Unfortunately on mine it was the hidden rain channel which sits as a closed box section on top of the bulkhead and under the screen. Really difficult to get to for welding you effectively need to strip the frunk and the cabin. On my insta there is a pic from the drivers footwell, you see the rust at the top instagram.com/p/CJtEtyogCy4/?igshid=ijdk42ob2ur3
@@vicsprojects just seeing your video on coilovers. Yes water in mine is coming from that area too . I believe I have to take the dashboard off so waiting for a warm day to do it. In the meantime I will check it Instagram . Thanks.

I believe for the tie rod end you can place the upper joint inside of the bracket on the coilover to avoid it sticking so far out.
Let me know if you want the front and rear wing stripes.
What set of coil over do you have can you provide links to sets of coil overs for a aw11

Best to link up via Instagram @vics.projects cool news about your Mr2, we'll have to get out on track at the same time 😁

WAIT I WAS SEARCHING FOR AW11 COILOVERS GUIDE… for my car but this is my car?!

I wasn't aware of that, is it in the big green book? Thanks for posting that data!
