When riding a bike for the first time A: be on grass to soften the inevitable crash B: aim for a nearby bush so that crash will happen at a lower speed C: repeat as necessary
This was one of my biggest fears when I was first learning, that's why we learned on smaller dirt bikes and ( yes I'm that old ) 3 wheelers. Good to see you landed soft and thanks for having the guts to put this up.
Thanks again for the share. It shows that everyone starts somewhere. Props for putting yourself out there for others to see! Even if everyone didn't start the same way.
I agree with the others. .. probably not the best bike for him to start out on as he is clearly struggling with reaching the controls. looks like he was also caught out when he let the clutch lever just flick right out. But good on him having a sense of humour and sharing the video. Everyone comes off at some point, not everyone gets back on. ...
approximately 46 second in this clip look at his left hand, it isn't controlling the clutch, no clutch control in 1st basically means no bike control, I don't think the bike is to big he can clearly get his feet flat on the floor, stupid handlebars don't help, I crashed my brothers dirt bike aged 14, ("let the clutch out") he told me , so I did at about 7thousand rpm. one big out of control wheelie later his bike is hanging from a wire mesh fence. that was my first ride 35 years ago, still riding and fucking loving it, I soon learned clutch control, currently on gsxr1000k5. shame mobile phones weren't around then you tube would have loved it.
This thing had me crying I was laughing so hard!!!! lol...... oh yeah, next time hold your phone the same way you watch your TV!!! It was still funny!!! HAhahaha!!!!!!
Reminds me of the 3rd time I ever rode a bike. Was talked into trying my now father in laws 1800 gold wing lol bad idea! Almost dropped it and the pride was definitely hurt lol he got a laugh out of it too after about shitting his pants
the best bike for a learner is a road trail bike because if things go wrong and you need to Mount the curb to save yourself you have a lot better chance stay on the bike if you were riding a Harley or road bike.
Lol! A couple of things. First, you have to learn to ride a bike before you actually ride one. Second, if your a first time rider, NEVER buy a new bike, or even a pricey used one. Buy a decent beater. Because, as you can see, you will dump it. Most new riders dump their first bike. Hopefully there wasn't too much damage.
A smaller bike would have been a better approach, but no shame going down when you're learning. We've all done it or nearly done it. Glad you got the hang of it.
i was teaching a class and my nephew has been around bikes his whole life. but when he turned 16 he had to go to my class to get his ML. he has been riding sense he was 5 he even rode my dyna to the class. after some classroom he got on a little honda rebel started it up and drove right through the fence. so it can happen to anyone
my dad had one with drag bars thing was a beast.you should start smaller when learning to ride.my father is one of the best I knew and he only has 51/2 fingers
I hope you got right back on a mastered that bitch... don't feel too bad it's happened to most of us at some point or other. But maybe a smaller bike minus the ape hangers would have been a better idea. Anyways hope you're riding now.
Sandles, no helmet and novice rider. Perfect.
Yes, let's place the first time rider towards a tree 30 feet away. That can't go wrong
looks like his first motorcycle ride - period.
at least he landed in soft grass at 2 miles an hour.
😊
Thou shalt not wear sandals/crocs while riding ANY bike.
+Ron Foley How about ever...especially crocs.
I'm going to have to agree with that statement. :)
Shoulda bought a schwinn...
When riding a bike for the first time A: be on grass to soften the inevitable crash B: aim for a nearby bush so that crash will happen at a lower speed C: repeat as necessary
Forward controls.....ape hangers.....inexperienced rider.
Gee, what could go wrong?
That bike was WAY too big for him.
Maybe an 883 Sportster. But then there's still that coordination thing...
Fwd controls and ape hangers are not ideal for a beginner..:)
True!
We all have our moments but this was pathetic...😂😂😂
Oh my, so many wrongs in this video
"Ok. Are we ready? Here we go." (you just know something bad is about to happen)
That bike looks like its built for someone a whole lot taller then him.
I've seen that happen a hundred times, when i use to work at a bike shop.
back to the moped for you!
have you ever thought of getting a smaller bike? Harley's are expensive to wreck
Learn on a bike you can handle
This was one of my biggest fears when I was first learning, that's why we learned on smaller dirt bikes and ( yes I'm that old ) 3 wheelers. Good to see you landed soft and thanks for having the guts to put this up.
dude just get a vespa!!
Bummer, but now you'v recovered........ keep on it......it's better when no one's looking.
never start in the dirt on a street bike. when u are a rookie. good luck
ok, are we ready? NOPE
graceful as a cucumber in a fourth of July parade!

Nothing like learning with no protective gear and with worthless (and dangerous) handlebars.
Edslittleworld about like your comment
this is great, i love how you were hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. hope all went well and you got the hang of it.
the engine sounded good...for the 1 second
Well get back on cowboy. just go easy on the throttle and clutch :)
Sweet helmet!!
I agree with the others. ..

ha awesome just wish this video was 10 seconds longer
No trees were harmed...
Not the first, not the last. Hope you're bike is OK.
its called NEUTRAL my friend :) keep it up
That's a nice FXR, I love mine.
I love mine too. 89 fxr.
He wasn't ready.....
Well that certainly looked like fun.
The controls seem way too far forward for him. He should have them changed to mid instead of forward controls.
Perfect first ride. It's years since this was posted and you and your family still I bet laugh every time someone tells the story
I had this video in my mind when I bought my first Harley after not riding a motorbike for 20 years- fortunately all went well!
But shit happens!!
Every rider goes down at one time or another.

bike runs beautiful till he dropped it .
..
neutral safety switch.

at least he can say his first motorcycle was a Harley
LOL, You should start on a smaller much cheaper bike.
Happens to the best of us brotha, you didn't get hurt so keep riding.

Dont feel bad i did that in front of my dad twice.
That's too funny. I can't start laughing. Great video.
Do it again! Do it again! I wanna see it again!
That's funny as hell. It look like you were going to control it and then you layed it down. Hahhahha!! Try again my friend!
A smaller bike would have been a better approach, but no shame going down when you're learning. We've all done it or nearly done it. Glad you got the hang of it.
Leader of the pack !

I know many harley owners that ride very well their bikes....
That's rough. Thankfully two wheels came naturally to me.
Ridiculous bars !
NOOOO!!! not the Harley!!!
Hope it was ok.
Oh and you too.. :)
shoulda bought a 250
True!
a Honda rebel
get a 50cc
It may handle like crap but it does sound good.
That sucks!....at least you weren't going fast.
LOL!!! that's a great clip man!!! so hilarious.......
Beautiful bike, sounds good too. Sorry you crashed....better you were on the grass than pavement. My 06 Sportster looks similar....minus hangers.
my dad had one with drag bars thing was a beast.you should start smaller when learning to ride.my father is one of the best I knew and he only has 51/2 fingers
There are people who have spilled, and there are people who haven't spilled, yet.
hehe..! try it where theres no obstruction.
guess starting out with a tree/bush in front of you isn't the best idea lol
I hope you got right back on a mastered that bitch... don't feel too bad it's happened to most of us at some point or other. But maybe a smaller bike minus the ape hangers would have been a better idea. Anyways hope you're riding now.
Two types of bikers the ones who have droped there bikes and the ones that will.
not a starter bike but I'm sure you found that out. ape hangers are for savages not short people lol
If that was your first accident know this, you continue to ride it'll be first of many
bloody hell, have you ever ridden a bike?
Nice whiskey throttle brah
Sure did look cool doing it though. 8^O
holy shit those sandals are really bad dude...LOL
Some people belong on Honda rebels
Guess we weren't ready 😁
How could that happen? Harleys are known as great starter bikes.
Yeeeeehaaaaa cowboy!
.....the face palm.. so real here... wow..
I don't think this guy knew how to ride prior to ridin. And who was the fool to let him ride it?
some people weren't meant to ride
That made my day
First ride? This is how all harley riders ride.
lol!!!
LOL, You shoulda started with something a little smaller!
you're actually doing pretty good for a Harley guy...
turn your phone sideways people!!
At least he was in the dirt and not on asphalt
i hope he sold it
poor bike
Hey, gotta fall a few times to get the hang of things lol It will get better you'll see.
At a loss for words....
Atleast the grass softened the fall.. Lol
love this fellow
