@@warped1589 3:27 was the biggest foreshadow. He’s driving like a dickhead. Lanesplitting has its place, but to be doing that in a crowded place like this where cars aren’t looking for bikes, aren’t expecting a bike to be cutting them off from their left turn, low visibility as it is, and so forth, it’s just asking for something to happen. And when the actual crash happened, he rammed into the back of that car. Slow moving traffic that is stop and go, and he’s going considerably faster. Always ride like you’re invisible, and ALWAYS have an escape route in mind for when something goes wrong.

Having owned many bikes over the years from r1's to an iron 883, I have learned you have to ride according to the conditions you are in. Riding in traffic aggressively is like playing Russian roulette
Um..an iron 883, why are they called that?? Surely they are made steel? If they were made of iron they be very heavy and being more brittle it would break easily and….oh wait, ok, I’m beginning to see why now, I’ve answered my own question.
@@Username-2 agreed, besides cast iron is a lot more brittle than steel due to having a very high carbon content around 3% carbon content (weird as it may sound) Steel usually has between 0.5 to 1% And cast iron handles compression worse than steel. Wrought iron has very low carbon content, usually closer to 0.10% carbon. Wrought iron takes compression very well. Anyway, engine blocks are mostly cast iron or aluminium, but the cylinders are usually steel lined.

looks like the cab in front of him wanted to change lanes to the right, guy saw it but was going too fast, hit the rear brake and slid out. there was space on the right but he was going too fast to get around the cab. if he wasn’t in the middle of accelerating towards that taxi so fast there were many other ways this could have played out safely.
If it was rear brake he would have stayed upright until he hit the taxi. Looks more like he was trying to pull the front brake lever through the handlebars
You may be right - accelerating and leaning right, grabbed too much front brake, and lost / washed the front with a clockwise, spinning low side to the left? In any case, about as skilled and prudent as the beanie and sneakers suggested. Sad!

Well you sir a sadly mistaken. I was in that exact situation and I wouldn't be here today if I didn't lay my bike down. BTW the bike I was forced to LAY DOWN was a 2002 HARLEY DAVIDSON WIDE GLIDE that I only had for two months and it wasn't my first bike, I've been riding for about twenty years on the roads and longer than that in the dirt. "Be safe"
Proceeds to ride like an absolute flog.
60 seconds later, crashes.
Love the XR brother! I’ve got over 33,000 miles on mine so far. Great bikes in traffic. I put an EBC large supermoto front disc brake on mine that I bought from ProCycle, totally transformed the stopping power on the street.
Thanks for info I was wondering on the front disk upgrade
From one Harley rider to another, that was perfect. Soon as he got a chance to open up he hits the only truck in 6 lanes? Awesome!!! Have a good day walking your bike.
it doesn't look like the bike is going on the walk with him
He didn’t hit it. Looks like he laid it down before impact
..and the lovely tuck and roll as he ejected from the Sporty....
I crashed on the Brooklyn Bridge, on a 74 Honda CB750, this car and I both decided the other lane was better at the same time. Only damage was the glass in the speedometer, my mechanic replaced it the same day. I got some rash on my shoulder, flew through the air about 14 feet, people just drove around LOL. I never drove like the guy in the vid , glad he is ok.
RIP gg nyc. He died in an accident couple months ago
For my chairs perspective: Absolutely avoidable crash. Looks like the rider pulled the brake lever very hard and the front wheel lost traction. He could avoid the crash by dodging instead. I found myself on this exact same situations more than once, you can either brake or avoid but never both things at the same time. Ride safe!
Edit: Glad the rider didn't have significant injuries!
He could have avoided the crash by not speeding... Literally no skill required. It's the city anyways, you'll arrive just as fast even if you go 30km/h, the red light will be waiting for you.
In short, don't ride like an asshole and your odds of crashing are lowered.
Exact this scenario is a mandatory test for getting the motorcycle license here. Easily avoidable, so much space everywhere.
You can also not ride like a moron and avoid the situation entirely.
Pretty sure his bike had single disc front and rear brakes. Not made for the weaving he was doing whatsoever.
