On a warm Vancouver day in June 1989, the bound and bruised body of a woman was found in the yard of an abandoned house. Police quickly determined that she had committed suicide, but her six-year history of receiving threatening phone calls and abusive stalking leaves us asking who killed Cindy James?

I thought that it could be her as well, it sounds like a women on the phone, and the spiteful vandalism of the pillows sounds like a woman thing, to get back at someone who wronged them. Maybe she convinced Roy to stay at her house, because she wanted to kill Cindy, and get Roy blamed for it, so she can have revenge on them both?
Either that, or maybe she had a relationship with Roy that she didn't tell anyone even after they split up.
Or perhaps the family in France had a hand in her murder. Maybe on member of the family felt wronged by her leaving, since she was their only friend or something?

Agreed. The drugs and hogtie can for sure be explained, but the fact there was regularly a sock around her neck that left marks makes this far more suspect. Though it also feels like overkill really, so it could have been that it was tied around first, then when that didn't work, they went with drugs and hogtie without removing it. That's just an idea from me though, cause it's clear the second city's police weren't giving the case the respect or attention it needed.

A former co-worker was stalked back in the late 80's. It started with phone calls telling her what she'd done through out the day. The calls eventually became obscene. Once that happened, she told her husband and he called the cops. They changed their number several times with the POC would almost always calling when she was alone or if a family member answered (usually one of her kids), he'd ask to speak with her. He'd tell her what she was wearing during the day. Thankfully the police did take it seriously and we're able to successfully trace one of the calls. Turned out it was a out of state trucker had been doing this. He told the cops he alleged just randomly looked in the phone book and called her number. That he was just "bored" since he stay in a near by motel when he'd be in town for deliveries.

I would say the recorded female voice was Cindy’s. It seems almost painfully obvious that she was doing it herself. Having the type of personality that needs the attention that comes with being a victim is clear in the letter supposedly from her mother that she had written. That letter was to make Roy feel guilty, and for other friends to look at and think that cindy was in fact being taken advantage of. Also, the idea that the officer was the culprit is kind of ridiculous considering he hadn’t even met her when the harassment started. Once you add these to the many diagnosis’s she received when hospitalized, I’d say she killed herself, possibly accidentally. I think the drugs she took was for after she was “rescued”, so blood analysis would show she had drugs in her system, so she could again claim no memory as she had been drugged.
I would say that this personality defect came from not learning how to properly form attachments in childhood because of all the moving around, plus the distant parents. It wouldn’t surprise me if the only time her father seemed concerned about her as a child was when something happened to her, such as a serious or semi-serious injury. It might only have been once, an illness or something, but she quickly learned that the best way to get attention was by being the victim.

I am a former drug user, and I know from countless ingestions that it takes at least 40 minutes for opiates to work when ingested, and that is on an empty stomach, no matter how much you take. She poked her arm with a pin, and ate the pills. She was a nurse and had access to pills. She just got the dose wrong. Also, "multiple personalities" is not what people think it is, that is a fantasy. Dissociative disease doesn't work like most people think, or how the movies portrayed, like that silly Cybil movie or the M Night Shammallama movie.
I have dove pretty deep into this case previously, including hearing numerous recorded calls she made, and she did that to herself. Period. End of story. Munchausen by proxy. Granted, the case is a bit creepy, and cops are often inept, but in this case they were bang on. Her childhood fits into her MO as well, like a glove, and just highlights the fact that she did this to herself for attention.

I have my doubts. I don’t really know if it’s possible to hogtie yourself while on a heavy amount of drugs. There’s also the voice recording. I heard a sample of the voice recording on a LordanArts video and I heard a woman’s voice clearly. First of all do we have a voice recording of the victim’s voice? If so it would be a simple matter of comparing the voice samples to see if they match up. However if there are differences then it would call into question a couple of things. Second how severe was her mental condition? I have an anxiety disorder and I have thought I heard a few things but I chalk it up to my brain screwing with me. I think this a case where patient confidentiality needs to be broken. Third how long does it exactly take to tie yourself up while drugged? Fourth do we have a timeline of her death? This ties in with the the tying up of oneself question. All in all I think she might have indeed been stalked and her stalker killed her. If so then they probably got away with murder, all because they chose to target a woman with a mental condition.

Plenty of people who seek power over others have gone into forces like the police just to get that morbid happiness in being in control. This individual let her live unbearably long in fear and terror, which is key to those who seek dominance over others. They wanted her to suffer for as long as possible until they had enough of her, and her mental issues were likely what made her a target as she would easily fall into panic and other forms of stress.

"Someone would have eventually blown the whistle" (laughs in likely to be a victim of police violence)
The police almost never break their codes of silence. When there are whistle blowers in police departments, they frequently report extreme hostility from former coworkers, and some report violent or even life threatening incidents. Somewhere around 40% of cops get reported for domestic abuse- a number which has to be much higher, as reports are generally less than actuality. A police officer stalking and killing a woman with his department hiding it is extremely likely in my mind.

Very suspicious that the harassment happened to her only after she left her controlling husband who didn't want her to leave. He was also a medical professional and had access to drugs, particularly morphine based injectables. He probably influenced the police, because he was a doctor, that his wife was nuts. therefore prejudicing them against her.

      @@Chezbo Hey man.
      Deadbug is mind blowing.
He covers serial killers and brutal murders from around the world...many in China and Japan...he doesn't do the obvious ones.
His editing, music and narration is pure art.
Be warned though its not for the thin skinned.

Your pretty much the only narrator out there on UA-cam I can stand to listen to for more than a few videos.
