@@Mason-hv5zh if you’re asking my band, I went to Mt. Pleasant, IA. Was in elementary, Jr high and High School bands. For me- Ohio State and Texas A & M are the most entertaining bands anywhere. The University of Michigan and Michigan State are also great bands. The Million Dollar Band from Alabama is another great band program. North Texas State is arguably in the running also along with Western Carolina and Jacksonville State University from Alabama. (Sudler Cup Winner this past year). The Penn State Blue Band is also a great band to watch. Lots of great college bands.
OHIO STATE 1973 grad. They were good in 1973. They are MUCH better now. No question, they definitely are the best damn band in the land. Don’t believe me? OK, put it to a vote. Double-dog dare ya!
Love to watch these marching bands. Is Ohio State better? I am so impressed by all of these top marching bands and the work it takes to get here, and the talent of the musicians, that I could never pick the top one. Congrats to all you wonderful marching bands.
id say ohio state and texas aggie is not comparable. Really comes down to preference on which style you prefer. Texas aggie is definetely the most military it gets while Osu is a mix of corp and military
It's no surprise, and it's no illusion. It's superb precision marching. I can't wait for them to show off at the Texas A&M - Texas rivalry renewal this year. I hope they do the flying cross.
That is so incredibly difficult and so impressive. That super tight formation is tricky and you have to know where you are on the field all the while playing your music and keeping those straight, straight lines! I played alto sax and if you have ever been bumped into while playing your instrument, well let me tell you - it HURTS like H E double hockey sticks. Watch those tubas and especially the bass drums when they are doing their turns. That drum is pretty much on the ground and they are still playing it! I’m sure it hardest on the brass instruments - trombones with that slide. This makes it that much more impressive! Go Aggies! Gig ‘em!
Amazing synchronization but I have one question if anyone can shed light on it,I'd appreciate it: WHY,in every video I've seen of this particular band, do they take FOREVER to get going? I could have run around the football pitch several times before they began to move forward

What does A & M stand for? It stood for Agricultural and Mechanical when 1st opened, but now doesn't stand for anything. Texas A&M is a land, sea, and space grant institution-the only university in Texas to hold all three designations.
Fightin’, not Fighting. Name comes from the legacy of the brawling nature associated with the band. First person expelled from the college for brawling was the bands’ first Drum Major, California Morris. In defiance, Drum Majors were selected by the band by an old fashioned bare knuckles contest (before WW2). During the war, band was disbanded and entered active service. After WW2, when the band was reformed, the practice was frowned upon. Kept the name. Only college band in the US that lives in the same dorms, wakes at the same time, has morning and evening formations, eats meals together, and forms a unified regiment within a Cadet Corps.
@@Relaxium_ You Tube Channel: College Marching Productions, Take The Field, Season 2; Episode 2 Texas A&M will give you a view into the band today, daily life, how the culture is maintained. A&M is much different today, but the band is still organized the same way, it’s official name is actually The Combined Band at Texas A&M University. the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band is its nickname The band is actually 3 dedicated band qualified (BQ’s) Company and 3 Battery sized cadet units that form the two subordinate bands, the Infantry and Artillery Bands. These two bands, when marching together form the Combined Band. Each band has a command structure and it’s own Drum Major, or the Artillery Band Drum Major, the Infantry Band Drum Major and the Combined Band Drum Major. Bandsmen are referred to as BQ’s by the student body, and although are in the Corps of Cadets, they wear a slightly different insignia on their collar (a band lyre) than the rest of the Corps. They always March in the uniform of the day set by the Corps, and March in that uniform. There is no specific band uniform. It is the most travelled college marching band in the United States, attends more away games per year as a full marching contingent than any other band. Think that is still true. I agree, but now of course it will be the King's Birthday. Queen Elizabeth II funeral had some excellent marching, including the naval ratings pulling the coffin. Hypnotising. I wonder if that is where they got the same idea for Cleopatra's entrance in to Rome, in the Movie of the same name. Based on George VI or earlier of course. With such excellent precision, why are they marching here on the right foot?
Aggie band may be the best band in College Station. And that's all. The long horns band is the best band in the state of Texas for sure. The audiences would be the judges.
Hahahahaha! I respect your ideas, but it is a really good joke for me! If you read all the comments, you will figure out that we are just compared with the Ohio Marching Band! Therefore, it seems that the judges have already given the decision! :)
Sorry, @Relaxium. Your Aggie band does a slight variation on the same old close-order drill and same old martial music game after game, year after year, decade after decade. It was very impressive the first few times I saw it, and I still enjoy it. It thrills Aggies the way repetitious religious liturgy inspires adherents to certain faith groups, but it loses its edge for the non-A&M spectators who rightfully wonder whether the marchin' Ags can do any other tricks. Ohio State's band is creative and talented enough to produce varied amazing formations and a bigger, better sound from varied tunes it plays in new and varied shows game after game, year after year. It's impressive and keeps its sharp new edge in every new performance. And the tradition of the script "Ohio" done to one of college football's best fight songs (as is A&M's) with the dotting of the "i" provides a traditional, repeated element to the show, but is only part of the show.
@Flying Eagle You nailed it! Davis has no clue as to the level of execution it takes for the Aggie Band to do its precision drills. Yes, we Aggie alumni enjoy seeing the world's biggest and best military style band; however, there are a myriad of formations they do to change up their halftime drills.
We learn these drills with about 6 hours spent on the field. And the absolute precision is what makes it impressive. Ohio creates very good performances, with maybe 95%+ accuracy. The jump to 99%-perfect accuracy is an absolutely massive one that the Aggie band takes pride in achieving, over and over again. Sorry if it’s too repetitive, but the fact that 300 people can manage to do something damn near perfect for 8 minutes straight is unheard of. Aggieland is literally built on tradition, so doing the same cool thing with a different group of people and a different drill each week is what I and all Aggies love so much.
