I think certain behaviors that were taken for granted back in my day are no longer taught. Simple things like not entering an auditorium when a play or musical score is happening was just understandable and expected back in the day. It’s very likely the person in charge of the performances that day has no idea he/she was being disrespectful. This is not to excuse the behavior but only to offer one other possible explanation.

Maybe a lot of people paid money to see entertainers (football players) ??
Was the event a football game with paid admission? or a Military event with paid admission. Who had sponsorship, who was getting pissed off with losing advertising
'time'.... etc, maybe the network was bleeding money for the 2 minutes of extra time. Loss of advertising and extra satellite hire.
You can't mix Govt events with commercial often... they just work differently. And the culture of thinking behind each is so different.

I too am a Marine, and I would say (personally) that it's only Moderately disrespectful.
At the end of the day, The Marines are there to do a Job, but so are the Players... and the Marines are on players' turf, so I can understand it... Plus, the players probably see this sort of thing Relativley Often and probably kind of filter it out so it doesn't distract them from the game.
I still think it's mad disrespectful, but... I can also understand the players' point of view.

@TheWasatchCrown 100% My guess is that it was probably Marine Leadership that led to that happening... Lt. Probably told the coach about the Marine Corp's "On time is Late" policy and dude probably didn't wanna look bad in front of the Corps and sent the boy's out a little prematurely.

Please excuse the NFL who should know no one should be on the field during the silent drill or until the Marines exit as a sign of respect. Their years of woke-ism must have made them loose their sense of timing. The reason the NFL has the Freedom and Liberty to hold a game in a massive stadium free of conflict is because of a soldier. We sleep in a war bed at night thanks to a soldier. Every freedom we have is because of a soldier and every citizen and organization needs to always be mindful of that and honor and respect that fact alone.

At the unknown soldiers memorial while changing the guard a rifle was dropped stabbing the soldier through his foot with the bayonet.
The soldier not only did not even wince he kept time with the changing of the guard to the end of the ceremony. Only to have his wound cared for after leaving the area. That is called respect for our fallen heros.

Were the grounds organised by Football, or the Marines? Maybe the were contractual arrangements, like advertising time and satellite hire that were going to blow the budget, for the football administration.

I haven’t watched one snap of an NFL game since they started kneeling during the national anthem. 8yrs and counting. All soldiers have sacrificed to keep our rights and freedoms secure. People paid to watch the game... on TV or in person....
      Lets see.....
TV network transmission delayed (a slot in a pre-booked system)
Advertising (contracted and paid for).... whoops..... might have to pay $10 million back, if we miss a little of that.
Satellite network hire on spot rates........ geez we missed the slot a little.... still have to pay anyway.
Venue hire and the huge logistics going into that.... oop's, all around the place.

Most of them were privates and corporals, meaning they've only been in the Marines for a few years. These aren't old soldiers who have done this for decades. These are young (very young by the looks of it) Marines who have spent months doing almost nothing else but practice, practice, practice. I am in awe!

Good try, not really completely accurate.
There are no privates out there. Everyone is at minimum a Lance Corporal (e-3) that's 1 chevron and crossed rifles underneath. 2 chevrons indicates a Corporal which is a NCO.
The chevrons aren't upside down. You have the chevron and crossed rifles until Staff NCO which is E-6. Then you get a rocker underneath the chevrons from that point on when you make rank.
The hash marks on the sleeve near the wrist indicate 4 years of service per hash.
Those are all very young Marines. That's what's so impressive.

tbf it could've been an innocent but very unfortunate miscommunication, too.
stuff happens sometimes. ran into it back in high school marching band a couple times during half time performances. one time the other team was stopped before they entered the field, one time they got stopped after (and started to get in our way a bit). also once had a band at a competition move to set up a shade too early as well, right after we finished but before we could leave the field.
in jrotc i've been in a drill competition where one group was incorrectly told they could enter through a passageway, and it almost mucked with our routine (it was a small room, tbf).
i've also helped run multiple years of a local special olympics, and one year the parents ran onto the field when they were never supposed to be allowed entry, after a miscommunication.

I was fortunate enough to be on a couple silent drill teams for a couple of years. It’s incredibly fun. It’s all just natural cadence and pure memorization. It’s a lot harder on a field like that vs a gym floor where we could hear and count our steps. It was also much more dramatic with every single step being as one. The formations were a lot of fun especially the pass throughs. When everyone is a professional and everything clicks it’s euphoric.

I am an old deactivated Marine. Marine is a title of the qualified individual so being called. Our branch of service are the first special forces of the United States. We are also the only branch of military in the United States that wear fully tailored uniforms. If you would like to see more of the Marine Silent Drill Team, you can look them up under that name on UA-cam. What you saw here is only a small sampling of their many routines, many of which are far more impressive. One that really stands out is what we call the meat grinder. It is completely insane. A similiar but shortened version of it was shown here. These Marines are stationed at the Eighth and I barracks in Washington DC. While many of these men are very showy in appearance, every Marine in the Corps is a fighting man. We are the first to fight in any war and penetrate deeply while the other armed forces follow and hold ground won by the Marines. Marines never run from a fight and upon hearing any gunfire or sound of danger they will run to it or move quickly to what may be enemy positions with readiness to fight. Cowardice does not exist in the Corps, there is no tolerance for it, not even in the slightest degree. The tolerance for pain is near superhuman levels and is what Marines are known for. If there is any life left in a Marine, he will still fight unless he is unconscious. It is our dedication to our cause and mission that keeps us fighting. God bless you friend, for calling us real heroes. We fight for right and freedom and to keep our honor clean ! I love you brother, Jesus loved you far longer ! A friend always. We are your best friend or your worst enemy !

It was very upsetting to me, an old lady, to see those worthless players running out like they did. And then so much movement on the sidelines... But these dedicated Marines stayed true and perfectly completed their task. In my heart, they are unconditionally the best of the best.❤

The football players that were on the feild are men who will and can never amount up to the incredible bravery and heart of these marine men... how disrespectful.. they think yheyre something just because they got money. They wouldnt break a nail for another human being let alone give their life like these men who selflesly fight for our freedom. I admire and look up to our soldiers with tremendous respect. Thank you men for keeping us safe. Youre truly the best of the best. Prayers to you guys everyday. God bless America 🇺🇸

You’re very correct my friend. I’m the son of a father who fought in WWII, The Korean Conflict and Vietnam as a Marine. I too thought it entirely disrespectful that the players took the field prior to the conclusion of the Silent Drill Program. There’s nothing they couldn’t do from the sidelines. Lack of respect.

You are correct. The players shouldn't have been on the field while The Marines were performing.

I'm not a Marine. I spent 20 years in the Navy and I was so disgusted and actually pissed when the football players and others went onto the field while the drill team was still drilling. I can only imagine how disgusted I'd feel if I served as a US Marine! Totally disrespectful!!! I just can't believe it! Everything was ruined the minute they walked onto that field! Effin jerks!!!!

Marine vet here. I'm not surprised. The NFL allows kneeling during the National Anthem which makes the NFL a disgrace and an embarrassment.

The NFL totally disrespected Them. they should let them at least finish what they're doing if they're gonna have them out there, given that much respect. Keep up the great work. Much love from Lawton Fort Sill Oklahoma.

I so agree with you. It's an honor to have the Marines there performing. Very disrespectful for the players to walk up and mill around. People don't have manners or honor anymore.

I appreciate your respect and admiration of our Marine’s silent drill. I completely agree with you that the players should’ve waited to enter the field until the Marines were completely finished and off the field. It’s a drill about honor, RESPECT and discipline.

I'm glad you picked up on the disrespect of the NFL players. You're a real patriot you know. Some of us know when honor call's we have to answer and "American" means more than being born somewhere, it fighting against those who wish to inslave us! "Freedom" it's being taken!

I am a proud American woman. My Granddad, Dad and Uncle all served in the Army I have a nephew who's Air force (special forces) And dated a Marine. Been to a friend's Marine boot camp graduation in Paris Island, SC, and they did some of this, as well as having their band play. I love watching this. Thank you for reaching to it!!
I love my country, and support our troops, however watching this and having had seen it close up, knowing the friend that goes to marine boot camp then seeing him13 weeks later, and he's now basically a robot that's trained to protect. Then having had dated one for 3 years, he seemed to be the stereotypical arrogant, egotistical and narcissistic little Marine robot. I know they're not a all like that. He was also kinda short so he had " little man's syndrome. "

Unless you have been in the military, you cannot appreciate how difficult it is to march in formation in precision without cadence. Everything in the military has a purpose. Whether showing the discipline and dedication of these Marines or in a fight, everyone in the military bolsters and represents the power (and willpower) of our nation. Beautiful!

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe that their cadence is one step per second. More than likely, members have clocks with a very loud second hand, so eventually, that one-second beat becomes second nature to them.

I was a Marine Infantry Rifleman for 12 years, did 5 combat deployments, I want to thank you for calling these guys heroes. I myself don't see myself as anything close, but the buddies that did not have the same opportunity those are heroes. I am used to being called a killer, a murderer, I should have died like the rest of my friends, and so many other things by fellow Americans. Thank you for saying something kind about these Marines. I'm an Air Force brat and I want to thank you for your service. No one should be out on that field until the Marines are off of it! Too many do not respect what should be respected. I was in middle school when Vietnam was done and could not understand why the Vietnam vets were treated the way they were. We were stateside and I went to a civilian school. Very sad the way things were.

I enjoyed watching the performance of the "silent drill team" perhaps a couple dozen times during my three years on recruiting duty out of Richmond, Va in the early nineties. A truly incredible performance of coordination. Semper Fi! thanks for showcasing their skills. John McClain, GySgt, USMC ret.
