Love this video. There are far too many people that choose to overlook the good things PG has to offer. Here are a couple more to check out: 1) The Ancient Forrest east of town towards McBride has trails that wander through huge Cedar trees and is well worth the one hour drive 2) The Otway Nordic Center is just down Otway Road in city limits and has great XC skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and mountain biking 3) The Pidherny Rec Site, also in city limits on the north side of the Nechako River, offers more of the same but focuses more on mountain biking 4) Right down town surrounding the new Fire Hall is Carrie Jane Grey Park where you can find a skateboard park, brand new outdoor basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, fastpitch fields, baseball fields, a bmx track and Masich Place Stadium, home of the UNBC soccer teams and the PG Kodiaks Jr Football team 5) PGARA Speedway near the airport hosts auto racing as well as everyone's favorite Hit to Pass during the summer.

Great video Mel and Jay! I’ve always wanted to go to Prince George. There has been a lot of mosquitoes in BC this year.

SO many mosquitoes! All the flooding from last year has brought about a mosquito army!

Great video! As a local, if you are into beer we now have three micro breweries with tasting rooms (Crossroads, Trench and Deadfall brewing) and one large commercial Brewery (Pacific Western Brewery) to try out!

Thanks, yeah Mel isn't into beer but I (Jay) enjoy it from time to time. Good to know. The next time we're up there, we're hitting up the microbreweries for sure!

That's great! We've played disc golf a couple of times. We'll have to bring our discs next time we visit.

There is lots to explore up here, c'mon up! If you love botanical gardens, have you been to Lotusland in Santa Barbara? It is the most incredible garden we have been to yet!

The farmers market looks like a good one! Most in AB are now full of resellers with very few local artisans anymore.

literally, nothing to do in prince george, cannot figure out how I've lived here for 6 years and with the pulp mill stench that hits you right in the face every time. Places to see in that area are outside of town and more nature.

We have since learned of a whole bunch of amazing hikes and trails to explore. Next visit we will have to check them out. For this time, we wanted to explore the city. We didn't notice the pulp mill smell everywhere, but did in one spot. 👃

ok i love these type of videos and poke holes through them, coming from and look at it from a prince george person. Lets get started. #1 Correct on mr pg, wrong on whom. it was done by a drunk logger. oh and the 1st was out on the highway. the 1 down town was a phone booth. the 1 in the picture/post card was 1 at the old visitor center. #2. REAL FUN - NOT! UNBC to start with should have been built down town in the industrial area on the south side. not up on the hill. i am amazed it has lasted on that hill as long as it has. it was thought at some point to all slide down the hill. as for the gardens. only something if you like flowers and stuff. and really who dose? not me. (brief brake-move to Prince George and they have no idea about the bird sized skeeters? before you go out to anything forestry or flower crap, you put jungle juice on and cover spots. if you do not like the jungle juice - EAT VIETAMIN C fruit!!!!! now we know who the big city folk are and the ones you do not want on your hiking jaunt out at the lake) #3. The trains, ok thats a thumbs up. #4. Farmers market another thumbs up. ok its no where as fun as it used to be but ok. #5. Fort George Park. park ok pet free is total crap when it was where you used to go to have pet dates for your snoozers. I take it they no longer have the fire truck play area. NO MENTION REGARDING FORT GEORGE, which was why we had Fort George park. it was where the native village used to be and the original sight of Fort George. and what later became the town of Fort George (town beside Prince George) and also where the paddle wheeler use to come in from lower BC. I guess no one knows their history anymore. #6 Winery, great place to stick it, down the road from the pulp mill. I personally do not want to be at some spot for wine and food where i can smell the cancerous causing pulp chemicals seeping through the ground. i missed #7 and #8. No mention on the park on top of the down town hill? no museums, no night clubs, no old radio station tours missed everything that was fun. like the lake, camping sights, Bear lake, backpacking trails, sky hills (1 case its more of a toboggin hill) missed so much!

We did smell the "interesting" small of the pulp mills in certain areas. 😁 Something to consider for sure.

It really seems like you are unhappy with everything in PG. I grew up there, went to high school, UNBC, and have much more fond memories of living there than you seem to have. Perhaps you may want to consider relocating somewhere you will be happier with your life.

@@thebatman8895 well you sure do not know who i am than. I had so much fun growing up pg. from the derby races behind Parkwood mall, roller skating out in Pineview, cadets (and friends from cadets whom we hung out with and did so much, hanging out at the drive in theater, riding our bikes to the city dump (now DP Todd High) and grabbing all the old comic books(that we used to read by the river after grabbing pop and chips from the store); late night encounters with the girls down in Fort George Park; movie night Fridays; LONG LONG LINES at the theater at Parkwood Mall was a gas (alot of time waiting in line was more fun than the movie); JJ Billiards; Spruceland arcade!: drag races with the RCMP out in the Hart; drives out to Bear Lake for grizzly burgers; hiking out in Buckhorn; spending dinners at our friends homes (when parents used to share work nights and watching kids); spending the weekends at friends homes (wall to wall sleeping bags filled with teenagers, up stairs - down stairs - even (in 1 friend's home) out in the old mobile home behind the house); BBQ summers and winter golfing; summer time skiing; bath tub racing; stock car races at the pg race track (more and less where Super Store is); golfing (and shrimp burgers afterwards); every native mom/Italian mom/Scottish mom trying to marry you off and catching a breather at the Chinese mom's untill we started understanding Chinese and than her too! I can go on and on. We had a blast as kids and as teenagers in PG and working at the Pas Lumber was a blast and at PG Hobby in Spruceland.

Top one thing...put PG in your rear view mirror. Last time I was there visiting my dear uncle...a drug bust - right in the parking lot of his facility. The area is BEAUTIFUL. The surrounding area that is not PG. if you go there...try your hardest not to get stabbed.

The only problem with this city is drugs .

    • @HomeARoam

Sadly, drugs are not a unique problem to Prince George. We see it nearly everywhere we travel.
