  • Cariboo Road Adventures Part 5: In this episode, Sayu Rinpoche goes beyond the Cariboo Road to visit Prince George, BC's northern capital. The media has long called this place "Most Dangerous City in Canada", is it true? Afterwards our journey is back to the Cariboo Road as we reach Wells, BC - a run down village that's in the process of becoming a modern day ghost town. As the adventure gets closer and closer to the end of the historic Cariboo Road, things only start to become more and more mysterious.....

    I used to live there as my wife is from PG, I really couldn't recommend it as a place to live, I was there 3 weeks ago for a visit and downtown has really gone to hell. So many people in the streets are doing drugs in broad daylight! I don't think PG will ever get any better

      I'm sure that Prince George has alot of crime by Canadian standards but not by US standards. Compared to somewhere like Oakland, New Orleans, or the south side of Chicago, it's very safe there. I doubt that anything would even happen to you unless you start hanging with the wrong crowd or you did something stupid. In those other places, you don't have to do anything accept be present.

    I read that NY and TO have the highest murder per cap., not mentioning it to make it sound like it’s a competition ,

    there is no reason to go to PG. The place is a hole. Even in its heyday, the 60's 70's, none of the residents or govt put much money into the place, and it shows today. People either spent all their money in the bars, or on pickups or if they were smart, they banked their money and moved somewhere civilized when they retired. This is rather common for most small and mid sized cities esp in the north. The housing and infrastructure could be described as decrepit or subpar at best. Places like PG never get much resources from either the province or ottawa, thus places like PG become basically dumping grounds that receive the bare minimum to keep the place going. Guess what Victoria's biggest worry is? A mass exodus from PG (and similar areas) to the lower mainland where they will spike the crime rate and increase congestion in an already overcrowded region. So its a dilemma, send insufficient resources so PG cant really cope, but you need to send just enough to prevent a exodus southwards.

  • @kevinszulinszky6245
    @kevinszulinszky6245 4 місяці тому

    Nice try on your narrative of how PrGeorge came to be the hub of the north. For near a hundred years the two main rivers( PG is at their confluence) were the trains of supply here in the north. Ferries and cargo boats were the only access here. It is for this reason that we grew into the hub of the north. Trains came MUCH later!! You never even mentioned the Nechako River! It enters the Fraser right where you were standing at the train trestle! You should bone up on its history before doing your" informative" narratives !

PG is full of violence and drugs then alot of other cities it's size. I was living there in 2011.
    But as for now I wouldn't say PG is the baddest place, I believe winnipeg is the worst. Just like anywhere 90% of all crime and deaths are not shared to the public.

      That's rather an unfortunate experience ☹️. Yes there were some issues like what you mentioned that I did see with my eyes when I was there (but I didn't record on camera). Been living in smaller cities the size of Prince George for parts of my life before I can say yes it is very challenging - especially just for folks over there to really understand who you are. They did rely on lots of false stereotypes and firmly believed you are an embodiment of such and didn't want to listen to what you say about yourself 😅. PG has a lot of potentials but I certainly hope one day it'll be a place where people like both you and I can live comfortably (considering no one can change the cold winter and all the mosquitoes in summer, that'll probably never happen😂). No one is gonna come to you and badmouth Italians@@joeydepalmer4457, a person must be part of what he or she is suffering, weather they are an ethnic group, or choose how to live. No one will publicly talk bad about a race unless they are drunk or really off. I have suffered different and more ways of making a person feel like crap in Prince George than all my travels put together.
