I adore Fern and John, but Dara being lumbered with them for the group tasks when he clearly takes this show so seriously is the funniest thing in the world
Easily the best team in Taskmaster history imo for this reason exactly. And the direct contrast with Fern being Fern and John being John just works so well
One thing I only picked up on by reading Reddit after the show: on the one hand, Fern took credit for the "endless plates" system, while if you watch, it was very clearly Dara's invention; on the other hand, Fern blamed either her or John for losing the feather, but it was pretty clearly Dara who lost it. So that balances out.
For the feather task, could they move the bathtub? The cushion couldn't leave the lab, but they could drag the bathtub into the lab and just tip it straight into the tub.
I know I'm late here, but who out of this group do you think could actually move a bathtub without damaging a bunch of stuff and/or seriously injuring themselves?
Of I remember correctly: The first Series was filmed in the actual Theater but it was not in good shape and when the show took off and started to make money they replicated it as a set.
My understanding was you had to use every blower once and every ball once so using the harder combos later i think is the safe move as by that point hopefully most of the competition would have been knocked out by overdoing it on easier combos in early rounds
Regarding the prize tasks. I know on Twitter, Fern has frequently been saying that her offering is usually the second or third thing she thinks of because the first ideas get shut down (by the producers?/legal team?) So I guess it's understandable that you phone it in if your ideas keeps getting rejected? I feel like it's getting much harder to come up with new prize task categories. Perhaps they should reuse some of the early ones? Or even shake up the format and start with something else?
Cheating has given us some great TV moments, the last thing you want to do is discourage people from cheating/bending the rules. This is a comedy show, not the Olympics.
I'm so impressed with John this series. I absolutely hated him when he did his character on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown, but he's hilarious here and also surprisingly good at a lot of the tasks.
5 barred gate is the tally marks we usually use. 4 straight vertical lines, 1 diagonal line across the 4 to make 5. The other weapon was a high heeled shoe, which might be very effective with the balloons. I still think I would have chosen the frying pan, without knowing what the actual task was going to be. I think the conventional thinking is that a frying pan is a heavy and effective weapon
The thing I loved the most about the team task were the facial expressions. They couldn't talk but their communication was so great to see. It was like watching a silent film or The Plank. In fact movie recommendation for you to watch, The Plank.!!! Absolute classic silent humour from the 1960s, I think.
I think Dara knowingly used his bellows illegally as there was a wee lift with his push, and Munya knew he was caught as he said 'what you don't know can't hurt ya' for the tape whilst walking away - but I do love the cheating/DQ trope that has grown out of Joe's toe over the red-green. I think a DQ or last place is fair punishment for naughtiness as there are some contestants you want to push the boundaries and see how it plays out on playback, a la Tim Key series 1.
Munya knew he might get rumbled by Alex because he spoke to the camera & said so at the end when he commented on what..... 'They do not see will not hurt them' or something similar....Greg's face and Munya sinking in his chair was punishment enough as well as no points imo.....Good episode again cheers for the reaction.
For the final task - there was no limitation that they couldn't manipulate the balls, was it? So if they just allowed a bit of the air out of the beach ball, it would have stayed still...
Great tasks this week . Dara continues to be supremely competent , but never seems to quite manage the lateral thinking solution . The teams are chaotic , John and Munya just do their own thing regardless and if Sarah and Dara were together it would be a walk over .This series is among the best so far , but maybe not quite so many outstanding moments .
I honestly don't know if Munya kicked the ball on purpose. It looks like it was a total accidental contact. But "What you don't know can't hurt you" as he walks away proves that he KNEW he touched it and kept quiet, ergo... DQ.
Hahaha he clearly meant to do it, it’s pretty much impossible to accidentally kick it with your left leg when it’s on your right leg. Plus, he said ‘release’ when he kicked it. How you think it was an accident is bizarre
@@oisquidyx it would be accidental if Munya had forgotten that he wasn’t allowed to touch it again. He shouts to Alex as he does it, I wouldn’t have done that so it’s possible he realised after he did it. 🤷🏽♀️
@@travelwell6049 but then he also made the comment of ‘what you don’t know, won’t hurt you’(or something similar) so he clearly knew that he had kicked it and wasn’t allowed to. It's at the point now that when I watch the show before your reaction comes out, I think "I wonder how Niel will react to this moment or to a certain line."
The individual tasks are filmed with each person separately over a few days and they actually stay in the house. The team tasks are done on one day per team, and that’s after all their individual tasks have been filmed. (Remember Phil Wang didn’t know about his costume being so revealing until the team task). They’re not allowed to talk about their individual tasks with each other. It’s possible Sarah was filmed 4th and Munya 5th out of everyone. So only Munya experienced the smell.
Munya isn't just a poser but a cheater - I'm shocked... What I am shocked by is that Greg was so affected by it, even if he may just have dramatized for comedic effect.
a five bar gate is a style of actual gate, four horizontal pieces of wood with one diagonal from top to bottom, but rotated 90 degrees would resemble a tally mark so I suppose some areas use it as a name for that
17:23 I've never heard someone from outside of Wales say 'Snuker' like we do before. Everyone I've heard say it, always says the 'oo'. Just quite interesting.
I didn't like the scoring of the studio task. There was just one round between John and the other contestants so it also only should have been one point between them. Either 1 and 2 or 4 and 5. Maybe disqualify Dara
Other Cluedo options were staple gun and the high heeled shoe. Either of those would have been more effective in balloon popping, but I probably would have picked the fry pan going in blind as well. (But in the shed.) Which made me wonder, would they have cleaned out the shed?
I'm not sure which room I would've picked going in blind, but as someone who loved to play Team Fortress 2, there's absolutely no chance I _wouldn't_ have also picked the frying pan as a weapon.
John was a little mugged off in that last one, should have gotten 4 points as normally happens in that situation. Probably won't matter in the long run but still. (Anyone else think Greg was a little dismissive of Dara's prize? Kinda felt like they were trying to give Dara as few as reasonably possible)
I think it was the right amount of points for Dara. It was certainly more reasonable than John's or Munya's picks, but a little boring and he didn't sell it as well as Sarah. I would've given 5 to Fern though and 4 to Sarah.
I want to know how long the feather was in the pipe and if it touched the sides as it travelled for more than 5 seconds! Makes no difference to the score, but as the feather couldn't be seen, it would have to be quick to know the rules weren't being broken!!
I’ve really enjoyed the series so far and hadn’t been disappointed by the lack of lateral thinking opportunities like I constantly was last series. That said, I want people to move the bath to the feather. There have been plenty where the task is just a timed task and you don’t do yourself any favours trying to come up with loopholes. So you probably get used to just getting on with it.
Noticed you made a comment about air movement in a filming theatre… its actually just a set at Pinewood Studios! The first series was filmed in a real theatre, but that was then recreated in a studio for subsequent series (you can tell the camera angles are a lot better from series 2 onwards!)
Cheating has given us some great TV moments, the last thing you want to do is discourage people from cheating/bending the rules. This is a comedy show, not the Olympics.
I for one think it looks like Dara pushed the beach ball on purpose and was surprised he didn't get nil points for that. As for Munya scoring consistently low over the last episodes, he makes great television. It was way more fun to watch Sarah and Munya on the feather task than the other three. Thought the scoring there was unfair. The cast is great this season, but that is a lot down to Munya and Fern being as they are.
It was so obvious Dara didn't do it on purpose. Also he got disqualified for it in that round, the same way everyone whose balls went off the knappet got disqualified, so seems pretty fair.

Such a fun episode!
I loved Alex's comment of "maybe try a few more ancestors" to Munya 😂
I've never heard the term "five bar gate" before, but I'm sure they're talking about tally marks, like on the wall of a prison cell.
Yeah me neither but knew instantly that must be what it meant.
Alex makes the quip in the show that he "used to do it in prison"
Yup It's similar to this symbol -> 卌 but we normally go from bottom left to top right.
I think we used to say tally Mark's and haystacks. You know, back in the olden days.
If there ever was a person who could play Winnie the Pooh it be John same energy and endearing cluelessness
Why is this the most accurate statement ever
Also starring Dara as Rabbit and Munya as Tigger

You could tell by dara’s reaction that he knew it was his idea
Have to admit I loved the fact you called it Cluedo and not Clue..
And loved this task also..
21:57 You can see the fear in Munya's eyes as Alex says let's look at his attempt one more time
You can just tell he’s thinking “well we had a good run”. He knew it was coming, he as much as admitted on camera in the VT

Why didn't they just ask Alex how many balloons were in the room, removed the 11(?) from the room and just smashed the rest without counting?
It wasn’t in your edit (I don’t think) but Alex mentioned Munya has a genuine phobia of balloons. I have the same, it’s called globophobia
He's the only one in the living room who didn't take the noise canceling headphones.
Wrong. There is no such thing. Your so called disability is a joke to me and everyone who knows or has ever known you.
*BANG*
I saw a time lapse video of them building the studio set the other week and it totally blew my mind that it’s not filmed in an actual theatre!
Of I remember correctly: The first Series was filmed in the actual Theater but it was not in good shape and when the show took off and started to make money they replicated it as a set.
Kinda hoping they do something about the leaning knappett for the next series though. The lean is so noticeable now.
The amount of brits that are scared of popping balloons is baffling. So many taskmaster contestants have expressed an aversion to it.
I am so scared I can barely watch it!
They have a louder bang over here
