No wonder they separated the teams like that… can you imagine if they put Sarah and Dara together the other team wouldn’t even finish the tasks… but it would be comedy gold 😂
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of Hector-ing the wordless language task. - I feel like John is the most tragic and unlucky contestant in the show's history. He always shows up to a task full of determination and pluck, and by the end he just looks defeated. His tenure on the show is just summed up by him trying to pick up the task and it blowing away in the wind. Him trying to find his alluring tail is another installment of tragic images from John's tasks.
It's possible my hand was on the wall of hands. Alex tweeted a request out ages ago for people to submit pictures of the back of their hand 'for a thing' and I dutifully did so, then promptly forgot all about it. It was only when watching the show lat night that I remembered it. Great task.
That's so cool. I love the interactiveness, and I love that someone sent in their dog's paw. My left hand has some visible scars from my first attempt at riding a bike. Never appreciated those scars more than now.
Was it 'hand' or 'right hand'? I think I noticed exclusively right hands on the walls but contestants had their left photographed. Maybe they just selected it that way to not give away anything.
Taskmaster UK contestants who have never won an episode in a full series: Romesh Ranganathan (1), Joe Wilkinson (2), Sara Pascoe (3), Aisling Bea (5), Nish Kumar (5), Phil Wang (7), Judi Love (13). Seven of them in thirteen series. I'm positive they could have moved both the tiger and the tail station, just plop them on the table and call it a day. I always appreciate when there's a little hidden logic behind the makeup of tasks. "Pin the tail on the donkey" and "I know it like the back of my hand" are fine examples here. For upcoming Taskmaster reactions, I'm looking forward to Australia. I've grown a small affection for Australiana, and it's admittedly easier when there aren't subtitles to have to bridge a gap over in addition to the unknown cultural references. But there are two things that make it particularly exciting: It's going to be such a different dynamic between he contestants, the Taskmaster, and the assistant, since the Taskmaster and assistant apparently have the same first name, and the mere fact that this is the start of a brand-new Taskmaster, with no preconceptions. The episodes are new and so is the entirety of the program. We go in with the blankest possible slate, and that excites me.
I'd have loved it if they moved the tiger and tail station. I'd have loved it even more if they did it and Alex moved the m back to their orignal positions while they were being blind-folded.
It's been one of the best series of Taskmaster yet. Are you going to reacting to Alex's brand new sitcom? It's very funny so far . Very funny songs (the Peas song is filthy🤣 ) and Greg's in it basically playing his Taskmaster character but even more over the top.
Dara has had entire 5 points taken from him several times, Sarah usually being the major benefactor from that. I love a tight series even if it's just between two people.
I love your innocence with task master, it's not a competition, it's TV, it's just to show off each comedians style. It's built around it for the reasons you love it. What we love is the epitome of each character. The character doesn't have to be genuine, just consistent.
I know some people don't really like Munya because of his overconfidence and slight cockiness (which I do kind of understand even though I've never been affected myself), but I actually found the ending of this episode to be quite satisfying. I liked seeing that the confidence he had (which is not always necessarily a bad thing) actually paid off for once because it's not as if along the way he hasn't gotten his comeuppance when he needed to. However, this time he just excelled and got a deserved victory.
I dind't know him before but he fits perfectly into Taskmaster. Just go for it every time even if you have not the slightest clue what you're doing. And If you have you just ace it. He could maybe work on his bullshitting game.
i first heard of munya when he was on off menu and then he blew to fame with that ‘wasn’t me’ remix. i was so happy to see him on taskmaster this series
I've seen the fan version and it was definitely well worth watching despite the audio early on. You can tell how much effort went into that. I've also been watching the Quebec season and it's been great. For a first season, it's more than I was remotely hoping for.
Despite Dara's screw up, John didn't understand what was basically the old ABC selection mode for texting. It's hard to understand how that's possible. And the laser pointer was the coolest thing they've done for a task in a while.
Four things I look forward to every Thursday in chronological order. - AfterWorkReactions Taskmaster previous series reactions.. - New episode of Taskmaster on Ch4 - Taskmaster Podcast - Neil Talks video reaction. Yup, Thursday is a good day to be a TM fan :-)
Series 13 & 14 have surpassed my expectations and have been really entertaining 😁 I've loved the casts. These episodes have had me in hysterical laughter 🤣
I also commented this on Patreon, but you should definitely continue with Kongen Befaler. -S2 has more Maria & Calle madness -S4 has the best prize tasks, plus an iconic moment that rivals Bård keeping his eyes open forever -S5 has two of my favorite contestants in the TM franchise
This is the only episode I’ve ever been lucky enough to (a) get a ticket for and then (b) make it into the studio for (because having a ticket unfortunately doesn’t guarantee you a seat). It holds a very special place in my heart because of that. It also amazes me just how much gets cut out - Fern’s story about her prize task entry was about 10 minutes long IRL and NO ONE understood a word she was saying, including the entire audience! 😂 Also Greg had to do like ten takes of the Shaolin monks intro because he just could not get the words out!
Hey there. I'm a big fan of your Taskmaster reactions! When this video came out a few weeks ago and you mentioned possibly reacting to fan versions of the show, it caught my attention because like the folks from Minnesota, we have been working on a fan-made Taskmaster (admittedly less scope than theirs, which was more of a multi-episode series). I'm happy to say that our tribute released today! Because of that it hasn't had any chance to earn a real consensus from the Taskmaster community as to how well we captured the feeling of the show, but if you start hearing good things about it and decide it might be worth checking out, we would love to see your take on the tasks and answer any questions you have. Thanks for making my week better every Thursday!
I guess with the Hoover it’s assumed that for many commercial uses they can’t fit a long enough lead so it will always need an extension so they just made it depend on the extension
There's a MythBusters episode where they test the saying "you know it like the back of your hand". I'm fairly confidant I could as my right hand has a huge scar on it where I bullet went through and my left has a large platinum wedding and tattoos on it.
I'm going to spend most of this weekend searching for my hand on that wall. The tape measure was definitely edited, Noel Edmondses are not a standard unit over here! The contestants who never won an episode were Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Wilkinson, Sara Pascoe, Aisling Bea, Nish Kumar, Phil Wang and Judi Love. You mentioned wanting to get on the podcast - there is another podcast with Lou Sanders where they interview fans of the show. You could definitely get on that!
No. As she said in the episode, she had no idea what the task was going to be, and she just thought it would be funny if her hand looked like she was jerking someone off and got lucky.
The hand task just said "find the back of your hand" and didn't mention a photo. Would they have been able to just point to the back of their actual hand ?
It might be fun to react to Alex Horne's new sitcom. It's set within the Taskmaster universe (if such a thing exists) with Alex trying to prove himself as a leading man in his own show. It's very silly and quite charming.
This cast has been the most surprising so far when it comes to my own expectations. Usually after the first episode I have a pretty good grip on who I’ll like and not be too fond of, but I’ve had some surprises here. The person I knew I’d really like I do really like, and person I knew I’d be fine with I’m quite enjoying. But the person I thought I’d love has actually gotten on my nerves, the person I thought would get on my nerves I actually quite like, and the person I thought would win me over certainly hasn’t.
Just a lead if it's on an appliance, extension lead if it's a separate lead that you plug appliances into. Technically still a vacuum cleaner here, hoover is a brand name that's now used for a product (velcro, sellotape, Biro etc.) I'd have found my right hand straight away, I can't straighten my little finger.
I obviously can't confirm they actually used it, but I did send in a photo of my hand! They asked for the photos on Twitter in early November of last year. So I remember taking the picture and sending it in, but I have NO memory of what the picture even looked like. I hope I would've been able to find it, though. Maybe...
After a quick overview, the best contestant not to win an episode might be Romesh Ranganathan in Season 1. Zero episode wins, but he finished just one point back of the series winner.
Either John's last desperate move on to the Knappet was: A) Because he decided that it MUST be a trick hoover; in which case the reveal that it WAS a trick hoover should not have been a surprise to him; or B) Because he thought it was a really long lead, but decided to be self-destructive for comedy purposes by trying to throw the task; in which case he got his wish by losing the task anyway, so no need to be annoyed about it.
Once again Dara's hubris comes back to bite him in the ass (having a go at Munya last week and John this week then screwing up in the same way himself). Cynically I think as they have all the tasks and know who did well in which and then slanting specific episodes to have a specific person win (pending live studio and prize tasks).
Yeah they can't guarantee how Greg will score it but they definitely put some contestants best efforts together in single episodes to give them more of a chance of winning one. Also they bunch tasks together for comedy's sake too, like with Dara's "Wait what?" Appearing two tasks in a row earlier in the series.
The language creation task was what I consider classic Taskmaster: it's more of a logic puzzle than just, "Do something silly making yourself look stupid." Too often, it feels like in this season the creators want to keep production tight, so they pile on a bunch of rules that allow for no hackability, no creativity, no fun, it's just, "This is how I've told you to do the task, now you have to do it this one way, you have no other choice." The pin the tail on the tiger task was like that--As an audience, we didn't hear any rules about "you have to leave the tiger where it is" or "you have to start from your chair here", but clearly they're piling on extra rules off-camera, and we see that a little bit when Fern asks about the start place and Alex says, "these doors have to be closed, and you have to go out the front." What? What kind of BS is that? I want tasks that reward lateral thinking, and having to make a case to Greg, and the possibility of a hack--in other words, tasks that reward cleverness. And it feels like we're getting less and less of that as time goes on, at least for OG Taskmaster. New Zealand Taskmaster, on the other hand, continues to have quite clever tasks.
A picture of my hand is in there somewhere. I have yet to find it, even though I have the video of all the hands posted to the TM youtube page. Back in January 2021 people on the TM email list were sent a message requesting a pic of their hand up against a light colored wall or table.
How about you do the Canadian Taskmaster, Maître du Jeu, next? I've just started watching it and really enjoyed it. Right up there with NZ and Kongen Befaler (Norway). The latter will probably see some changes in coming seasons or simply cease since charges are being pressed against the Taskmaster himself for racial harassment/violence.
There is a book, the cone gatherers, about a bunch of kids gathering cones from a forest that will be destroyed for WWII or something. One of them gets shot, and the gamekeeper that did it kills himself. Do not rely on my shite memory for this.
Hey Neil, here are the contestants that have never won a episode. Romesh Ranganathan S1 Joe Wilkinson S2 Sara Pascoe S3 Nish Kumar S5 Phil Wang S7 Judy Love S13 It would be good if you reacted to the UK series from the beginning, having rewatched all the series 2 or 3 times you forget how many moments you forget.
You havent looked at the danish taskmaster (stormester) And i bet that is not the only taskmaster that can not be found with english subtitles thanks to copyrights Looking forward to taskmaster NZ 👍
So happy to hear you’re going to make TM reactions year-round! Personally, I thought Suurmestari was MUCH funnier than Kongen Befaler. And I was pretty disappointed KB brought back two of the same contestants for S2. And Pilvi Heimeleinen (?) is an excellent Alex stand-in.
Maybe compromise on a canadian tuxedo for fancy dress. I would have misunderstood that task too. When Fern took the tiger with her at the start I thought it was a brilliant idea. So disappointed it was then back on the piano. That wasn't on the task at all! The first thing I noticed about the hands: they were all right hands but contestants' were left. Dead giveaway - if you remember which you had photographed. Sarah's suspicion paid off. The final task was great guessing work but the last item was just cruel. I don't know if you can even call it a hoover , there are probably regulations about how long an extension cord of one at least has to be. (and I don't mind mixing up british and american terms because I'm german, apologies.) At this point I feel Dara could have been the GOAT and had to be reined in seriously to make for a somewhat exciting race. My favourite at the beginnig was Sarah, but Dara got robbed so many times now. And I have yet to figure what John's point is in being there.
The end task was a bit bullshit as the Henry Hoover's usually have VERY long cords. He'd shortened it. I think it was a bit rubbish of them to do that and that's why Dara's side were a bit miffed. Rightfully so.
I really do enjoy the Fan Minnesota version even though the audio of the "Stage" parts not very good they thought of two hilarious tasks that I remember all the time Perhaps if the Australian Version , and season 15 aren't out yet then would enjoy your reaction to it
I agree. I don't think it would work well to react to every episode separately--there just isn't enough content there, but I think it would work to do maybe two reactions each of which covers a couple of episodes. The guys put in an enormous effort, and there were a couple of tasks that I think could easily be winners in the actual show.
Spent the first 2 minutes shouting at the screen “straight outta what Neil? Straight outta what?” Cause knew it wouldn’t be something as basic as Compton.
I don't recommend the Swedish version of taskmaster, but I really liked the Danish one and it has surpassed the Norwegian one for me. (I did only watch S1 of the Danish one so far however)
Agreed that the Swedish is not really up to par, but I found the Danish contestants far too cocky overall. Not sure if it is down to casting or culture. The Norwegian one has a great mix of characters and banter in all series so far.
Was it forbidden to use a string to just pull the tiger towards the tail station, instead of going to the piano? (If for some reason nobody just left the tiger nearby in the preparation time.)
Munya was really on the ball n this one , I would like to see Fern win one , she has had her moments but it seems bizarre John has won two . Sarah has good old common sense and it's served her well , Dara, as we all know is a clever man but it could be closer than expected . It was pointed out afterwards that the taps measure clearly had 2 metres ( twelve and a half ft.) printed on the reel . The extendable dog leads are very popular and veeeery long with a ratchet stop to heel the dog close . All in all one of the best episodes of the series for me .
@@DavidSmith-cx8dg in germany tape measures are usually 2, sometimes maybe 5m. If you're unsure try to set your marker at 3.5. It's not a distance to get totally wrong. The hoover was utterly unfair and should be counted right out. Just about everyone was upset about it i feel, even the winners.
If we exclude the NYT and CoC episodes I think there's only Aisling Bea and Phil Wang who went winless during their series. There are probably a couple I've forgotten, but others can figure that out. The hands task is my kind of nightmare. Although I do have a small advantage if they photographed my right hand given a glassing injury.
The prize task made little difference given it was a team task to the winner of the episode - with Munya on 18 and Sarah on 14, the only way Munya couldn't win the episode was if he got 1 point in the final task and Sarah got 5, and even then it would have been a draw. As soon as it was a team task with them on the same team, the result wouldn't have mattered - Munya won the episode
I'm assuming you mean studio task rather than prize task- interestingly, the point allocation for the final studio task was 3pt to the winners and 2pts to the losers so even if Munya and Sarah were on opposite teams, Munya would still win on the final reckoning.
You could react to s1 of taskmaster nz after s3 if you don't have an idea, I know it would be a bit of a glowdown since you've already seen s2 but if there's a 5th season which there might be you'll wanna see the amazing champion from that year.
best session of taskmaster are the early ones that was on channel DAVE feel like it got worse when they swaped to channel 4 should do reactsion to a show called PLEBS from itv 2 great show very funny
I think this was my favourite episode of the season so far. As a sidenote, as an Australian, Im not hopeful for the Australian version of Taskmaster. The lineup of comedians and hosts really arent my style. Theyre a very similar group to the Australian Would I Lie to You cast, which in my opinion wasnt as strong as the UK one. If youre looking for another season to react to, id definitely reccomend the first New Zealand season, and I've recently been really enjoying the Quebec series which is currently airing as well.
Dara's haunting cry of _'Where is my hand?!'_ is one of the best things I've heard in a long time.
The outro with him lying there and the slow zoom out with the door slamming shut was perfection 😂
It's right up there with "Oh, My Baby!" 😂
No wonder they separated the teams like that… can you imagine if they put Sarah and Dara together the other team wouldn’t even finish the tasks… but it would be comedy gold 😂
It was just done alphabetically. Mostly that’s how it’s done. So it might’ve been Sarah having to work with Munya and John.
The fact that it set John up as “oh, he might actually just own this tail task…” only for him to find the most John way to stuff it up was beautiful
If John would be good at anything it'd be mildly funny. Being set up as the laughing stock from start to finish is not.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of Hector-ing the wordless language task.

Definitely worth checking out the Edinburgh does Taskmaster show that Alex did with a cast of TV execs

John and Fern are both tied for bottom place at 113 points each (and Munya only 5 more). It's tight at the bottom.... as Alex's mum used to say.

i actually am in tears right now when they’re trying to unpack why john did the whole dad’s hands thing
Fern understanding the language they created was magical. I loved it.

Also they bunch tasks together for comedy's sake too, like with Dara's "Wait what?" Appearing two tasks in a row earlier in the series.
The language creation task was what I consider classic Taskmaster: it's more of a logic puzzle than just, "Do something silly making yourself look stupid."
Too often, it feels like in this season the creators want to keep production tight, so they pile on a bunch of rules that allow for no hackability, no creativity, no fun, it's just, "This is how I've told you to do the task, now you have to do it this one way, you have no other choice."
The pin the tail on the tiger task was like that--As an audience, we didn't hear any rules about "you have to leave the tiger where it is" or "you have to start from your chair here", but clearly they're piling on extra rules off-camera, and we see that a little bit when Fern asks about the start place and Alex says, "these doors have to be closed, and you have to go out the front."
What? What kind of BS is that? I want tasks that reward lateral thinking, and having to make a case to Greg, and the possibility of a hack--in other words, tasks that reward cleverness. And it feels like we're getting less and less of that as time goes on, at least for OG Taskmaster. New Zealand Taskmaster, on the other hand, continues to have quite clever tasks.
New Years Treat has just been announced.
+1 for the Edinburg Fringe special
i'm ashamed to say that I did not think for a second that any of the lextendable objects would be modified in any way.
Fantastic, year round taskmaster.
+ yes there is going to be a new year treat.
I was beginning to wonder if John was undermining his team again.
Not long found your channel...good stuff lad 👍🏻
Welcome aboard!
A picture of my hand is in there somewhere. I have yet to find it, even though I have the video of all the hands posted to the TM youtube page. Back in January 2021 people on the TM email list were sent a message requesting a pic of their hand up against a light colored wall or table.
Very cool!
Common you got to do Taskmaster Canada!
Haven’t seen it, but there’s a French canadian version of Taskmaster called Le maître du jeu.
Definitely more of the norway version!
3m is the standard tape measure length that you see
Wahey Munya's off the bottom!👌👏👏😂💜
Hey Neil, here are the contestants that have never won a episode.
Romesh Ranganathan S1
Joe Wilkinson S2
Sara Pascoe S3
Nish Kumar S5
Phil Wang S7
Judy Love S13
It would be good if you reacted to the UK series from the beginning, having rewatched all the series 2 or 3 times you forget how many moments you forget.
I submitted my hand for the task... god knows if its featured or not, I wouldn't be able to notice if it was
You havent looked at the danish taskmaster (stormester)
And i bet that is not the only taskmaster that can not be found with english subtitles thanks to copyrights
Looking forward to taskmaster NZ 👍
So happy to hear you’re going to make TM reactions year-round! Personally, I thought Suurmestari was MUCH funnier than Kongen Befaler. And I was pretty disappointed KB brought back two of the same contestants for S2. And Pilvi Heimeleinen (?) is an excellent Alex stand-in.
There is also 5 seasons of the Danish version stormester
(and I don't mind mixing up british and american terms because I'm german, apologies.)
At this point I feel Dara could have been the GOAT and had to be reined in seriously to make for a somewhat exciting race.
Hope you'll do the Danish version, Stormester (Grand Master) :D Six seasons so far!
Yeah do TM Norwegian series 2! And if you can do it, the Danish one looked great also!
I really do enjoy the Fan Minnesota version even though the audio of the "Stage" parts not very good they thought of two hilarious tasks that I remember all the time
Perhaps if the Australian Version , and season 15 aren't out yet then would enjoy your reaction to it
Fern needs to win one, especially when John has won two. I've never seen such a hopeless contestant.
I am an idiot 2 metres is (6'6" ) and Alex said 2 NE. (Noel Edmonds) so it's probably 10 or 12 ft.
My main problem is I misheard Alex when he said N.E. Noel Edmonds as mentioned in the last episode was an 80s tv presenter - the tape was doctored .
NZ Season 1 definitely is worth a watch
if he didn't like Matt he is definitely not going to like Guy lol
You should watch taskmaster NZ season one.
How’s your French? Québec has its version now. 😂
I'd like to see NZ season 1 I thought that was coming unless I missed it? Season 3 I watched 2 episodes of, wasn't that fun.
You should go back and check out Season 1 of NZ Taskmaster. It’s not as good as Season 2 but you would LOVE on of the contestants.
I agree. It's certainly better than 3.
All photographs were right hands. Only contestants were left. Subtle but noone seemed to notice.
Judi Love definitely didn't win one quite famously.
@@nari5025 not true I saw plenty of left in there.
@@stingersplash Yeah I had forgotten that. I've done a little research since and Sara Pascoe went winless also.
To be fair on John I don't get why bell and 2 sticks equals E and not either B or C
Taskmaster season 1 of New Zealand. I love it if u can
The prize task made little difference given it was a team task to the winner of the episode - with Munya on 18 and Sarah on 14, the only way Munya couldn't win the episode was if he got 1 point in the final task and Sarah got 5, and even then it would have been a draw.
@@shinbios Yes, live task sorry
David Baddiel was paired with Jo Brand not Ed Gamble.
Was he specifically talking about the drawing on your back task?. That one had Baddiel nearly driving Gamble mental.
@@TheycallmeMrWonka Good point, that was a final task of the episode one I think. All the recorded ones were with Jo.
Yay more taskmaster
DISCWORLD 🙌
You could react to s1 of taskmaster nz after s3 if you don't have an idea, I know it would be a bit of a glowdown since you've already seen s2 but if there's a 5th season which there might be you'll wanna see the amazing champion from that year.
Regarding your intro. Did you actually ever do season 1 of the NZ taskmaster or was it skipped for some reason???
best session of taskmaster are the early ones that was on channel DAVE feel like it got worse when they swaped to channel 4 should do reactsion to a show called PLEBS from itv 2 great show very funny
Fern. Will. Never. Win. An. Episode. 😁
2998 Taskmaster fans and 1 dog lol 😆
What about season 1 of New Zealand?
I think this was my favourite episode of the season so far. As a sidenote, as an Australian, Im not hopeful for the Australian version of Taskmaster. The lineup of comedians and hosts really arent my style. Theyre a very similar group to the Australian Would I Lie to You cast, which in my opinion wasnt as strong as the UK one. If youre looking for another season to react to, id definitely reccomend the first New Zealand season, and I've recently been really enjoying the Quebec series which is currently airing as well.
