i love how your dad always picks up unique sounds and instruments in the background. he always makes me notice something that i didn’t hear before/didn’t think about a lot. it’s refreshing to see him notice such intricate details that make the production!
the nostalgia i get from saturation 2 especially is so overwhelming. like so many memories linked to it. graduation, my first job, depressive episodes, hanging w friends, parties. ALL in one summer.
I really hope you cover more of their albums after saturation 3 because I think their creative direction from iridescence onwards was really cool to see
would love for them to just go in order to be honest, i love all their albums, even TM has a soft spot in my heart even if people didn't like it as much
It’s sad that I feel like brockhampton are largely dismissed/forgotten despite the feats they managed to accomplish during their time. I wish the members would go on to release more/better solo work. I’ve been waiting for so long for Kevin abstract to do something but there’s really not a member who I wouldn’t love a project from
Iridescence (the record after the trilogy) is my personal favorite, not just bh project, but one of my favorite albums of all time. It's such an intimate and almost accidental exploration of chaos. After all the drama that broke their band apart, Brockhampton finds the beauty lying within the madness they lay in. It's not for everyone but if you give it a fair shake, I find it to be a wonderful piece of self-expression.
Yessir, they hit the perfect experiemental stride with iridescence imo. It feels like BH's Yeezus and has lots of my favorite tracks of their entire discography on it! I would agree its one of my all time favorite albums!
straight up have been saying the same stuff you said for years, it's a perfect encapsulation of the groups headspace and mood during the whole making of the album, its almost "anti-saturation" in the sense that it actively sounds different from those 3 albums, which lead to easily their most expressive album they've ever released, and i'd say more vulnerable than ginger to be honest.
10/10 for me. Easily my favourite BH record and one of my fav hiphop releases of the 2010s. So creative, clever, etc while having enough pop sensibilities in their writing/melodies to feel like a hit compilation. Love it
all are great but sat II is really just them finding their sound and hitting it perfectly, sat III keeps the vibe but also adds more experimentation that doesn’t quite touch sat II imo
GAMBA's only issue is that it came after SWEET. I don't know where else it would have fit in the tracklist, mind you, but I think any song after SWEET was going to be underrated
I got into brockhampton right around the Ginger era but my summer of 2019 was basically the experience most fans had in 2017 with me discovering the trilogy, all their amazing music videos and figuring out who these guys were. I definitely liked hip hop at the time but after listening to Saturation 2 and 3 back to back on a late night rainy car ride, I was sold on a whole genre. These guys inspire me, make me emotional, and show the true potential of what can happen if you make art with people you love. So glad you guys enjoyed it!!!
I wish I could go back in time and listen to this album for the first time again. Actually all 3. It was such an experience. Such a different time. Such a classic trilogy.
for Kevin: pretty certain the Scarbee Rickenbacker Bass from Kontakt was used on these records, the guitar is live but I'm pretty certain the bass is done in software. It's shown on Romil's screen in the doc and it definitely sounds a lot like it.
I think Joba had the most music experience of the band. He studied classical vocal performance in college and worked as an engineer for a music studio in Houston. He recorded a few members of the band with his own gear in his home studio
Kinda felt emotional by the end there with Summer, Brockhampton means a lot to me. Can't choose a favorite album but one thing's for sure i appreciate all their projects and i adore Joba
As a personal lover of iridescence, I’m incredibly excited to see your dad’s response to it. Hearing you didn’t like it as much makes sense, but I think it could change with another listen. Great vid!
Man this album was heat when I first heard it in college, and it still is now. So great that you get to experience this with your dad for the first time 🔥
With the last video I couldn’t wait to see your reaction to junky it’s my all time favourite from them, your reaction is how I feel every time I listen to it😂 gives me so much energy
BH is one of my favorite artists of all time. I hope you guys follow the entire discography as the story in and of itself I think is so worthwhile. Glad you see your dad enjoy this one a lot
I hope you go through the entire catalogue, I know you're not super hot on Iridescence but that record just means so much to me. I'll never forget September 2018, truly magical time seeing it debut at number 1.
I really hope they get to iridescence just to see the shift the band took after ameer left and the up in production. the album is so raw and emotional and it was recorded in only 10 days!
Not sure if this is a hot take but personally, I think iridescence is their best album. The experimental and bombastic production infused with the emotional weight of the time it was being recorded truly resonates with me in a way that not a lot of albums do. Great video as always!
Immediately came to comments hoping someone said it 😅 Iridescence is different from saturation but in the best way possible. There are sides of BH we would have never gotten without the album 🤞🏽
I love your channel so much!!! One of the most eloquent, open-minded, and aesthetically relaxing pieces of media I've seen produced in a very long time. If I could suggest an album, it's Humbug by the Arctic Monkeys or Salad Days by Mac Demarco.
Oh my gosh, I've binged everything in the last week. I love this channel so much. I'm not sure if you take suggestions but any Kali Uchis album would probably go over well with Kevin, plus tons of features from artists he's already familiar with now. Or Bino's "Because of the Internet" Anyways, all my good vibes for yall!
For a long time this was my least favorite of the saturation trilogy. But over the years I’ve grown a huge appreciation for it especially GAMBA and SUNNY which I didn’t like for the longest time. Fantastic album
This is my favorite BH record by far. Definitely some nostalgia being the record I discovered them, but Tokyo to me sounds so incredible still. Perfect for a night drive. May sound like sacrilege. But the intro and all sounds like new school Outkast to me.
Easily my favorite BH album. I remember my life when this trilogy came out so vividly. While Sat3 and Sat1 have my individual favorite songs from BH, Sat 2 has no skips IMO. Jello, Tokyo, Fight, Sweet, and Summer my favorites. edit: My top 3 BH tracks would be Sister/Nation, Gold, Jello in that order also before anyone replies saying wb Bleach? It’s probably 4 with Tokyo at 5.
I know this one isn't for the masses but please consideri reacting to Black Thought & El Michels Affair's Glorious Game. This one's an amazing album with Black Thought sounding more soulful than ever, and that in itself is surprising. Having been a long time Black Thought fan, I think this record would be the easiest entry point for someone who isn't accustomed to his complex rhyme schemes. Realllllllyyyy hoping y'all consider this because I think Kevin's gonna love the album mainly because of the extremely jazzy production!
YES! I saw them just after this Saturation came out, they were at the Biltmore Cabaret kinda near Scienceworld! One of the best concerts I've been to, got to meet a few members and at some point Ameer was like 7 feet away from me screaming like a hawk😂
Brockhamton came to Australia for a radio stations music festival and did a striped back version of san marcos and also an Alicia keys cover. Well worth a listen/reaction. The radio station was Triple J. It’s on UA-cam.

Same boat with Brockhampton! They’ve helped me during my sad episodes
“Summer” gives me the goosebumps. Fav track from the record.

I'd love to see them do Ginger
my fav albums are after the sat trilogy, i hope they do:(
Iri is their best album. Given the circumstances and lineage of events, it was the perfect album
would love for them to just go in order to be honest, i love all their albums, even TM has a soft spot in my heart even if people didn't like it as much

the best brockhampton & summer album there is. every track is just so fkn good. SUMMER is probably my favourite brockhampton song aswell

JELLO has so many things I am a sucker for. Strings, a bouncy beat, pitched up vocals, fast flows... It's one of my absolute favorite tracks of theirs
for Kevin: pretty certain the Scarbee Rickenbacker Bass from Kontakt was used on these records, the guitar is live but I'm pretty certain the bass is done in software. It's shown on Romil's screen in the doc and it definitely sounds a lot like it.
