MARRIED Melinda and Larry Mikla have an unconventional age gap in their relationship - of 30 years. The lovestruck pair get stares everywhere they go, from passers-by who think they are dad and daughter, or worse, a granddaughter and her grandpa. The pair met when retired police officer Larry was the first responder to a minor traffic incident involving Mindy’s car in Ohio, USA, in August 2012. Now the couple are trying for a baby, but don’t know if it will be possible due to Larry having a vasectomy 18 years ago.

I’m so glad this was posted. I’ve ALWAYS been into much older men. My family is a lot older than me so I’ve always been around far older people growing up, so I matured quicker and was used to those age gaps. My Mom is probably the most judgmental of my whole family (you think it would be my Dad, but nope. He just wants his baby girl to be happy and taken care of) about when I date older men and even though I’m in my 30’s it still makes me sad that she doesn’t accept it. Just as this woman’s Mom was saying about “when you’re 50 he’s going to be 80” blah blah blah, like we didn’t consider that. 🤦🏼♀️

I completely feel you with your mom not being accepting, I deal with the same problem.. theres exactly 10 years between my mom and my partner and I think she finds that the hardest part.. it's extremely frustrating, some days she's hot and ok with him and other days she's cold and nasty.. it makes it harder to function as a family unit together.. but I'm glad you have your dad's support 😍 either way keep that relationship going as in the long run it's between the two of you truly, at the end of the day your going to bed with him not your mom.. and you have to do what's right for you!!

Funny enough my grandfather was one year younger than my great-grandfather. My maternal grandparents had a 20 year age gap to each other but also had 5 children together and it worked out great for them. Its a bit weird that my grandpa was older than his father in law but 20 years is still not as extreme as 30.
