Just got my 2018 2500 6.7 four by back from the dealer after it sat there for two months waiting on parts. Supply chain issues, LET'S GO BRANDON! Anyway, completely covered by Chrysler no charge! New input shaft, SOME of the clutches replaced, new valve body, yada, yada. The service manager recommended Valvoline synthetic fluid rather than the Chrysler product which I ok'd but then they didn't do it, airhead. The tranny overall works better than it ever has, shifts better, hooks up good and slightly better fuel mileage. Researching what I can do to make this 68rfe live without wrecking the remainder of my factory warranty. Finding some real good practical info on this UA-cam channel for sure. Moving forward cautiously, there's a lot of misinformation out there on the interwebs!!
Oh yeah and some dirty rat bastard at Riverside Ram Chrysler Jeep stole my high dollar Fluke multi tester from the box under the back seat floor. A dude with a job who steals tools from another man, lowest life form out there. I'm retired and I keep it in there now to be ready on my RV travels so I sort of forgot about it. I would sure like to have ten minutes with that rat!!!
The answer is you can't do anything worthwhile to the trans without compromising the warranty. I'm actually surprised the service manager recommended anything but Mopar ATF because dealerships are notorious for denying warranty claims because you "used the wrong kind" of fluid. You may have saved your warranty by declining his offer.
Yea man doing a valve body is a good start for sure. If your warranty is still in tact I would not touch the trans until that warranty is up. Unless u don't care lol main reason why I don't go to stealerships

Awesome content!! I was wondering the same thing bout the locked shifts. I'm running CCS tunes as well and had to have them change the shift points cause it would shift through the gears so fast 40mph and in 6th gear. I'm getting the smending 467 2nd gen for my 19 and I hope CCS can build me good tunes for it. The revmax it next on my list. Have a good week bro and keep them videos coming!!

How will the thermal bypass do in extreme below zero temps?
Great Video! My pan bolts were long and go all the way through. I had to use a tap to clear all the crud out of the threads. I’ve seen 205 temps after a 9 hrs on the highway then stop and go. After getting on it temp would go down to the 190. It was about 85 degrees out. I am just courteous does your line pressure consistent? My truck bounces around 250psi.
250psi is fine long as your valve body can handle it
Line pressure will always fluctuate its never consistent
Did you install the hex screw for the line pressure at all or leave it off. I have a pedal monster and not sure if I should put the screw in
My 2018 H.O. has a drain plug. Also has a reusable pan gasket. But it also has an Aisin. 😏
Just wondering, did you update the spin on filter adapter to the metal threaded one? From my understanding the Dodge trans comes with a plastic one.

I did not update it just cause I never had a issue with that piece in the past
If you don't have aftermarket od clutches or like a sonnex or revmax drum I wouldn't get on it in the od you'll be pulling that thing out before you know it. I'm now on my 3rd trans with my compounds, I should of just got the revmax 700 but tried to piece it together and it's not working out , to much power , im now going to defuel my 80 overs so this hopefully don't happen again , but any power to a pretty much stock 68rfe its going to die just a matter of when.
Yes this is true, but part of the reason the od drive drums go out is because of not having enough psi applied to the packs in them so they wipe themselves out. But yes u are correct tho stock drums are not very strong
Who did you get to do your tuning? I know if you buy a whole transmission from Revmax, you cannot have 225psi shifts.. They void your warranty. I had some really good tuning from HPP and they made me returned the truck with stock everything except for the line pressure in 5th and 6th. I would not have bought their transmission had I known that before it was installed. I would have had mine rebuilt and maybe used some of their parts.

How did you check your trans fluid level after installing that thermostat bypass? I just did one recently on my 5th gen along with the revmax billet valve body & pan and since then, can't get my trans temp above 140⁰f which is great...objective met but oil needs to be at about 180⁰f to get a proper level check. Just curious how you did it?
I'm in same boat haha. Read the dipstick u can check either at 70 or 180 when in neutral. So I check mine at 70 although ideally 180 is when it's best. In theory if it's good at 70 is should be good around 180 but also u gotta consider if it never gets to 180 the trans fluid won't heat up or expand so your servicing at 70 degrees should be reflective.

@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL I've been running it for about a year and have gone through every type of weather with no issues (since you lose "active air flap") I was a bit worried how much water could get in. only complaint is every time you start your truck you get the service active air system warning on the little screen but it doesn't set a CEL or even a DTC
U can get that disabled if u got a custom tuner. Yes I was looking at the banks cold air intake
Factory tuning has a locked shift from 5th - 6th. RevMax recommends not locking until 4th to reduce potential damage to the input shaft and claims you can accelerate just as fast with the TC locking in 4th. Is there an advantage to locked shifts? You probably get a little less clutch wear, but if the tuning isn't perfect you can bind a clutch which means you'll need a rebuild. It's also harder on the input shaft and the stock shaft isn't know for strength. If I had a stock input shaft, I'd have the TC lock in 4th and run locked shifts from 4-5 and 5-6. If that feels too "slow", have lock-up in 3rd with an unlocked shift into 4th just to be safe.
Tow haul stock it will lock in 3rd.
Ahhh makes sense man, yea currently u get lock up from 4-5-6. So far I've seen 3rd lock up but it will unlock for the shift to 4th so that's good then.
@@EVERYTHANGDIESEL Factory tuning has had several updates in the past 15 years so it doesn't surprise me that they've made it lock in earlier gears. But I'm talking about the TC staying locked during the shift. I think the early 6.7s had locked shifts only from 5th to 6th, but anyways; you can make it lock up in 2nd and stay locked until 6th but it can be jerky, which isn't great for the input shaft, and requires some mindfulness to drive without issue.
When I do 4x4 launches mine locks in 2nd and stays locked all the way to 6th, and it's smooth. But there's times at low throttle where it's not. The reality is that trans tuning isn't perfect for all driving conditions, and with the current state of tuning for these trucks it's going to be nearly impossible to get a trans tune that is 100%. My advice is, and this goes for fully built units especially; learn how to drive "around" the quirks. Use of gear limiting (+/-) button is especially helpful as well as Tow/Haul. This is particularly useful when using a larger, fixed vane turbo.

I believe it's a rental place. You can rent that spot to work on your vehicle depending on your needs.
@@robertturnbull2903 It's what's called "The Hobby Shop", basically an auto shop with tools, lifts, etc. that the military provides on base where troops can bring their vehicles to work on.

Hello sir. Did you have any problems w trans before looking into this? I have 14 Ram2500 having some shifting issues. Shifts fine until i put my foot into it then acts ignorant. So i have on lowest setting and babying it until i get this installed! Thanks for answer ahead of time!
I did not have issues but a worn vb may be the issue. Or something as simple as a fluid change.
Had shop rebuild my valve body with a revmak kit. Getting sticking issues between 4 and 5 and 5 to 6

It was not, revmax has specific trans tuning parameters for there transmission builds but will provide information to give to your tuner

I have an 08 3rd gen with H&S trans tuning but EFI live ECM tuning. When I upgrade the valve body, do I need to put the stock ECM tuning back in before I change the trans tuning to higher line pressure? Thanks for the help

Zero flex plate is better cause it comes with a billet channel plate so it cost a little more. But the HD towing vb is good too. I recommend the HD valve if you not trying to make a lot of power and u just use your truck for hauling. If u going for HP then zero flex is the way

You would be fine with the HD valve body. You will need to do a relearn once it's installed. U can use a ez lynk tuner or alpha obd2 reader. If you don't have custom tuning so you can turn your line pressure up I would suggest the bd trans pressure booster. It plugs into side of trans. Without bumping your valve body pressure up you won't get the full benefits of the valve body/makes it kinda irrelevant getting.

Line pressure may be too high. Also check make sure trans fluid is in correct level

Yes but only lock up on 4th 5th & 6th not 3rd
68RFE likes to up shift and down shift too early and too low of rpm wanna keep your shifts after 3rd between 1600-1800rpm’s
If you're adjusting lock-up strategies you should be adjusting shift points too. Stock programming has the shift points way too low, getting the truck to 6th gear at 37 mph. My tune shifts at 1800 rpm in normal mode, and 2000 rpm in tow/haul for all gears. Much better for drivability, depending on your turbo/fuel setup.
