The 86-87 turbo Regal was under reported in the HP numbers, mainly thought to keep insurance costs down. They dynoed one bone stock 87 putting out 275 HP. A few tweaks like a better chip and injectors and they could easily be high 11 sec quarter mile cars. One GNX tested was making 440 at the wheels. Amazing engineering considering the bean counters at GM weren't happy the halo on the Vette was getting so bent out of shape.

I was told by a reliable source at a Buick dealership in Las Vegas, Nevada the GNX engine was 'massaged' a little bit to give it a 4.0 L displacement and a few other things which I won't go into. As you go into other venue's you might come up with a few more stories and who knows how many are true. Many people have been to the dragstrips and witnessed these Buicks doing some eye popping tricks like pulling wheelies and the likes. Myself, growing up in Flint, Michigan have seen quite a few hard to believe things happen, you just have to thumb through them and find which ones you like best. I just wanted to share this with anyone and everyone.

GNX should have been number 1, and the 1970 GSX number 2

My 2012 Lacrosse has similar or better numbers than most of these.

I would hope your 50 year newer Buick would preform at least on par with it's ancestors.

I especially like the red Buick GTO convertible at 01:23... LOL!
And the mysterious 1970 Buick Skylark GS Stage 1 not mentioned at 00:20...

It does appear to be, most likely the 301, they were installed in the buicks and pontiacs.

The late model 301-4.9L for the 1979 model year was better than the early year model because of the main webbing, they're supposed to be more durable.
