Actually it could of been intentional bcuz the line b4 it. He saying how he stocks those shelves n how he not gunna fail he got no l’s like in Christmas. Elves are kinda like Santas stockmen right? So em saying he got none cuz he do it all on his own, he will not fail. Pshhh wtf
The daddy Kane bar had one more layer, "got that Kane and lean on me" Lean on me - the song Lean on me, using a cane Got the lean and 'caine on me - got the drugs on me Am I missing even more to this madness? lol
Yooooo in Alfreds theme when em mentions e.p.md he also has the lines "so call me santa Claus, cause at the present, I outrap them all" and then he has the whole ridiculous Christmas scheme in this verse aswell
I heard the whole song more than 50 times and still i was complete blank in EM's verse. #eminemgoeslast #alwaysthegoat can't wait to see your reaction on that fast verse Knox.
That's exactly how my face looked on Em's last part of that last verse. What he does, I have never seen before. His voice, wordplay, rhyme schemes, linguistics...he was born to do this. The way he pushes himself to try different things. He's on that hard a's head! 👏🏿
I absolutely love the so called "new Em" much more than the "old one" he has grown so much, incredible wordplay and doubles, triples, he is on the top of his game
Thought I was the only one who loves this new Em more....and I'm glad he became this Em while I'm 30 ..coz I wouldnt have understood half the shit he says if I was still a kid
I like the music the old Eminem made, but I’m a huge fan of clever word play and he takes it to another level and breaks words down to syllables and letters and his delivery is second to none.

I LOVE your breakdowns! I am definitely checking for what you got in the future. I hope you have a platform for EXCLUSIVE breakdowns like this. I thought I am a fanatic of Hip Hop but I missed quite a few references but you educated the man! Thanks man.
Crazy good breakdown! A few additions: the Kane/Cane also is half a reference/a double reference back to the Santa Claus/Christmas scheme: during Christmas you have the white and red striped sugar canes plus cocaine is also snow - another Christmas symbol. Crazy, crazy stuff from Eminem. To be honest, what sets Nas apart is more a song like Moments (or I Gave You Power, Last Words, Fetus, Dance, Heaven) or how Nas paints pictures with a single line. Nas is maybe my favourite rapper. He puts the poetry in Rhythm and Poetry, but I don't think anyone touches Eminem when it comes to rhyme and flow schemes. On this song Nas didn't seem to go as HAM on the rhyme schemes as he did on The Don or Nasty. His entire verse seemed to be a layup to Eminem. Even the way he is scratched back to finish Eminem's sentence gives that impression
The passion from you is so clear. Thankful that you can unpack tracks like this so people like me can appreciate every layer. I’m a huge fan of your breakdown videos
Nas' last scheme is deeper, too, because he's talking about going to the graveyard to see Hip-Hop's empty grave and then he mentioned letters splattered red, like the words of Christ in some bibles being printed in red. 🤯
I do agree about hip-hop. There are days where I want to stop rapping, but when I hear Nas or Eminem kill a beat, I'm always like "fuck, I gotta do this shit too. I ain't done yet either." It's like a hunger just comes alive inside of you and drives you to want to do the same
@@TwistedSisler Well... I do have one other reason: I want to change lives in the same way my influences did. Be relatable and an outlet for people. They say you'll never be satisfied if you're motivated by fame, accolades, or fortune, but making other's day better is something I never want to be satisfied with. It may be a reach or may be it is on point. It would be nice if he could do an interview with the artist at some point ans say is this what u meant. But for now, it helps to have people take the time and do these breakdowns and Knox in my opinion has a lot to say with meaning and knowledge about history in some of the reasoning why he interests it that way.
Dude Nas is always in the conversations of the greatest. His flow and cadence is just silky. Just so smooth. Titans on this track.
welllllllll.......Old Nas is always in converstaion...since he put out that dogshit "hip hop is dead" album no one even wants to speak his name.

Knox, what makes this channel so damn special is your ability to remember and pull in history that Em and others dip into. I love listening to your breakdowns and then going and reading the comments where others contribute. It’s exciting because it’s like unpacking a picnic basket full of really great food that my brain is so entertained by. So thank you for what you do and how you do it, it’s the best!! ♥️
Well said
Not only is Knox the 🐐 of breakdowns but Chaos Theory is one hell of an Album. Enjoy this guy before he reaches the stars.
My favourite track on Chaos Theory is Murder in the Booth
I Worry About Myself is My Personal Favourite
"This sample is NASty"
I see what you did there!
Nasty Nas yo
Lol
Knox is the GOAT of breakdown 🙌 you broke the triple entendre "Call me big daddy, cause I got the caine and lean on me" to the last nanometre. Your are a god!
I love the final comparison. I love both artists but it's just not a comparison. Nas is his own beast when it comes to his mind, poetry, and story. But em is also his own beast when it comes to his lyrics and flow. Just two greats on different fields.
Exactly 🙌
Em has all of those things, too, he just doesn't showcase it as often as Nas does.
I can kind of hear what people meant about how Em's infinite sound like nas.
The last part of Nas’ verse was a reference to his album titled: “ hip hop is dead”
I already know Knox will kill this reaction, in my opinion Em killed it
You know I had to do what I do on this one ✊
Jay z next song
" Eminem murdered you on your own shit"
😂😂😂
@@brandonayong5823 Once Em features, it is no longer your song.
@@brandonayong5823 Em didnt murder nas tho, nas did the best he could in his style while em got more time and can fit more wordplay in his verse cuz he also raps faster. I also think em sounded kinda awkward before the beat switch.
@@quentinh3140 if he got more time, couldn't he rap slower then? And you just said naz did the best he could!!!
Em just flows so effortlessly he flips flows like I flip pancakes for brekki..

He got those double and triple pancake flips. He be scheming on some Mickey Mouse pancakes. This man is a pancake alien! :D

The "I got no L's" line -
- Got no losses
- No elves (dunno about this one)
- Noel is Christmas in French
goddamnit, missed that! he's so good
I think the no elves is no helpers = as in no ghostwriters maybe?
@@clotpole8071 I mean could be a stretch but yeah can be interpreted that way
To be honest though I can't hear the "elves", I think that's a bit of a stretch as it is
Noel is also another name for santa claus, something like "papai noel" in some latin languages
@@clotpole8071 em doesnt mess up like that. if it seems like elves doesnt fit its because he would have to ruin 2 other references to make this kinda fit. NOELS it the joke.
Nas gave Eminem respect. He let him go last. He opened for him. He let him change a beat and let him more seconds.
Nas and Eminem = GODS
Yupppp
Like you said RESPECT
haha that is not how it works. The best goes last and Nas knows his place when eminem is in the room

Just cause I haven’t seen anyone else say it yet, the “got no L’s” could be “got no elves” OR “got Noel’s” like the Christmas song Noel. Keep kicking ass on these breakdowns my guy!
Literally nobody else has caught this, the No L's / Noels
I actually think it's just Noels and everyone is mishearing it. I think it's a coincidental and accidental triple lol
@@kingchris5224 MrLBoyd Reacts caught it.
I think its no l’s (noels). Saying u got no elves like in christmas makes no sense. But at the same time elves are apart of Christmas like Santa n Rudolph. I just dunno if he meant that cuz Elves r in Christmas
Actually it could of been intentional bcuz the line b4 it. He saying how he stocks those shelves n how he not gunna fail he got no l’s like in Christmas. Elves are kinda like Santas stockmen right? So em saying he got none cuz he do it all on his own, he will not fail. Pshhh wtf
The daddy Kane bar had one more layer, "got that Kane and lean on me"
Lean on me - the song
Lean on me, using a cane
Got the lean and 'caine on me - got the drugs on me
Am I missing even more to this madness? lol
Yooooo in Alfreds theme when em mentions e.p.md he also has the lines "so call me santa Claus, cause at the present, I outrap them all" and then he has the whole ridiculous Christmas scheme in this verse aswell
These songs mean so much more when you actually know things about hip hop and know older artists. You're breakdowns are awesome.
PMD said in his verse:
“I’m mad, better yet I’m on a RAMPAGE”
That could be a reference to their song “Rampage” from their Business As Usual album.
It was and I'm Mad is also a song of the great EPMD. Good catch!
I heard the whole song more than 50 times and still i was complete blank in EM's verse. #eminemgoeslast #alwaysthegoat can't wait to see your reaction on that fast verse Knox.
Wasn't even fast.
@@wedontagelikemilktho.6633 Did you understood the multi-syllables rhyme scheme bro ?
It wasn't fast.
Well it was fast for me though 🤷♂️
So you weren't lost in Nas' verse?
That's exactly how my face looked on Em's last part of that last verse. What he does, I have never seen before. His voice, wordplay, rhyme schemes, linguistics...he was born to do this. The way he pushes himself to try different things. He's on that hard a's head! 👏🏿
I absolutely love the so called "new Em" much more than the "old one"
he has grown so much, incredible wordplay and doubles, triples, he is on the top of his game
Thought I was the only one who loves this new Em more....and I'm glad he became this Em while I'm 30 ..coz I wouldnt have understood half the shit he says if I was still a kid
Eminem has perfected his craft and is just showing off at this point.
He sacrificed music making for perfecting the MC’ing
Facts. "New" Em is waaay better than "old" Em
I like the music the old Eminem made, but I’m a huge fan of clever word play and he takes it to another level and breaks words down to syllables and letters and his delivery is second to none.
Please don't stop doing what you do. I've been absorbing these videos daily. I feel like I'm at the Hill University of Hip-Hop and I'm glad to attend. Much love from Portugal

@ku12T as a Stan I looked forward to ems verse to see what he gave us and as a hip hop head I looked for to this iconic and legendary collab. Just because I'm an em Stan doesn't mean I don't respect the talent of other MCs especially people who thought em the game like EPMD (tediously, I wrote obediently, believing in me , EPMD must have had teaching degrees - Eminem last album B side higher ) , and NAS (who Eminem drew so much inspiration of ininfinite) just to name a few and that's only the impact these two legends had on EM, the impact they had on the industry is even bigger.
So revival & Marshall Mather Lp 2was fire huh? Eminem fans dickride too much.
Comin’ in a year later Knox. Just found your shit and love it. Wanted to point out, there’s a third meaning to the Xmas line. With “No Ls” and “No Elves” there’s also “Got NOELs”, like Christmas

I LOVE your breakdowns! I am definitely checking for what you got in the future. I hope you have a platform for EXCLUSIVE breakdowns like this. I thought I am a fanatic of Hip Hop but I missed quite a few references but you educated the man! Thanks man.
Appreciate the comment, goes a long way!
Appreciate the comment and the support to the channel! Goes a long way.. Much love! 🖤

Nas' last scheme is deeper, too, because he's talking about going to the graveyard to see Hip-Hop's empty grave and then he mentioned letters splattered red, like the words of Christ in some bibles being printed in red. 🤯
Second coming of hip-hop like the second coming of Christ. Dope reference.
