Man! I am trying to find a review of this phone where they'd show how we can capture the milky way, starry sky timelapse, star trails, auroras, Light trails, silky water, hand held long exposure shots, etc. Does the long exposure or timelapse modes have any of these features? Some phones like Nubia or huawei have these modes inbuilt! Does it have intervalometer? Bulb mode? What is the maximum range of long exposure shot? 30 seconds or more?
It would be great if you'd make a video dedicated to night photography/Videography with this phone! This would help me make my decision to buy this phone!
So it's definitely going to be tough for a phone camera but with a tripod it should be possible but I live in Florida so it's not dark enough here for that. I did capture the moon shot completely hand held though!
Vivo coming for the crown no stagnation at all, they gotta keep it up year over and year and also improve in some areas to take it though current champ is 3 phones long and for years neither phone has separated enough to take the crown but the most versatile is samsung, pixel-iphone-galaxy all have a specialty but are so close you can't call one better, its preference, vivo is trying to break away but the color has to straighten up and there can be no flaws in resolution options. Im impressed though.
I think it's a game changer camera capability on Android. Best of luck VIVO X80 PRO

I was wondering how does the vivo cinematic stack up next to the iphone cinematic mode? Can the vivo focus on multiple subjects where as the iPhone can only focus on one subject?
So apples "cinematic mode". just blurs the background. Vivo's does a bit more...lens flare and color control alone with blurring the background. I haven't tested to see which one does the best with actually blurring the background though

Great review! New subscriber here! Would like to know more about LOG. Most of your footage seems to be done in standard modes and sometimes looks too sharp. I would like to see what that softer LOG look can do!
So unfortunately LOG is capped at 4k24 and 4k30 so if I wanted 4k60, I needed to go standard.
So what ND filters can be used on teh X80 Pro
I would love to see you do a detail tests on video shooting. I have watched some reviews, and I am pretty sure the Zeiss mode on photo shooting is my definite preference over the standard/AI mode. Unfortunately, Zeiss mode cannot apply to video shooting. My major interest would be how to shoot video with custom settings to get results close to Zeiss color mode (more realistic look). In this video, you did mentioned that shooting in log can help to reduce over-sharpening, and this is the kind of things I love to hear from your testing. The overdone saturation and unrealistic HDR performance on non-Zeiss mode, how to refine that to something more pro-look on video shooting. For a reference, I love the imagery coming from iPhone 13 Pro and Huawei P50 Pro on video shooting.

Out of all the features you have mentioned-which were all phenomenal for Vivo to include, it was the Teleprompter feature that really caught my attention. I have seen numerous reviews of this smartphone already and you were the only one who has mentioned it and did a demo of it. That was already overengineering the software technology for Vivo to even do-and I applaud then for it. LOL

Thanks so much!!! Hahaha. It was just one of those features that stood out to me...it's like Vivo put phones in the hands of creators, actually listed to their pain points, and tried to solve them. Obviously it's not a technical marvel or anything but it feels good when a phone solves pain points or makes it easier to create content
I missed the comparison of the Snapdragon 888gen1 versus Mediatek 9000. Which one is better for video? Which one gives less heat? Which system is better: Origin or fun touch? Otherwise...thanks for your in depth review...I just do not like reviews which mix up material of far superior systems, with the bespoken phone.

Could you show how you colour grade log videos. I'm love the phone but I wish I had the option to change its sharpness in videos.
Vivo did well with this but we still don't know the price and the availability
VIVO is basically One Plus! I was a OP user from OP1-7 pro & the 7pro McLaren but was stuck on it. Was never really impressed with any models after the 7, kept working for the next one and was still not impressed. Finally came the VIVO and went with the X80 Pro and couldn't be happier.
I'm curious how the OP11 is. I've watched a couple videos though the camera image appears to be not as natural and darker than the VIVO so again, happy I made this purchase!

I'd say the S22 ultra gives me more reliable results with better quality but I prefer some of the pro features of the X80 Pro. I'd probably give the win to the S22 but the price is so much more it's tough to justify

Thank you Dan. This phone caught my eye but this is the most useful review I have seen. What is the gimbal you used with the phone in the video please? The one listed under the 2Gimbal I used2 above is a DSLR camera, so probably the gimbal used to film you filming with the phone. But I can't see the phone gimbal listed and the "learningcameras kit page" come up blank for some reason, even after a few reloads.

ehh see all your photos and videos on the beach with that smartphone and its practically the same I did with my very very old death phone xiaomi redmi 3 . I took soo many good photos and people ask me what device I use, the same with video. Simple with good lights even low end Phones can surprise you in a good way. Now low end phones can do much much more.
Is external phone gimbal necessary with this phone. My dealer says there is no need. What are you using, a phone stand or a phone gimbal.
If you want it to be super stable when walking, a gimbal is a good idea. Otherwise you don't need one. Some of my shots were handheld and some were using the gimbal when walking and recording video

iPhone 14 won’t be much different than the 13
The big advantage here is the manual option and LOG mode. There are some good apps to give you more manual options on the iPhone though so try that first

So filmic pro can be downloaded but I think they have less support with Android recently. Thankfully the included camera software gives you most of the things you would want filmic pro for

When I tried to record in 8K with 60fps, I faced heating issue. Did you find any heat issues?
According to 8:10 - 60 FPS in 8k is not supported.

Looks like the IPhone 14 is outdated before it’s even released. Holy cow..
I hike a lot under extreme conditions where lens swaps and heavy gear in general is not possible. Think 16000ft altitude or extreme humid conditions. A phone with that IQ can substitute normal and wide angle shots while keeping my tele attached to my big camera.
Please make a visit where u compare the IQ from this phone to output from a 16-35 f4 (or similar).

Honest criticism - this video looks and sounds like an advertisement. You have amazing shots from your pro camera but there is so little stuff coming out from the phone.
ONLY Apple has cinematic video in 4k ... NO Android phone has it. So, I've deduced it's a limitation of the Snapdragon processor. DAMN IT!!!!! Istrongly dislike Apple ... but this can't be ignored.
Apple literally just got "cinematic" video in 4k this release cycle (which just means the background gets blurred so I don't know why that's a deal breaker). I'm sure it will hit Snapdragon soon but yeah, Apple is ahead on the processor side on most things by about half a release cycle. But obviously I could name 10 things that came to Android first. In fact, it wasn't until the last 2 years that Apple even gave you ANY control in video
