Thank You! Yes, we still got the Caledonian Sleeper that dose Inverness/Aberdeen/Fort William to London Via Edinburgh/Glasgow and down the West Coast Main Line and there also the Cornish Riviera From London to Penzance via the Great Western Main Line! Check out this video of a trip I had on the Caledonian Sleeper! ua-cam.com/video/OcY2X71Wq6k/v-deo.html -Kyle
Thank You! Yes, the station was closed at this time the only people about were me and the staff on the train! They were running Test runs through the night making sure they are operating as they should! -Kyle
Nice footage Kyle. Not seen all that much footage of 92s testing the new Mk5s so far. I've not been at The Citadel after dark since the work on the overall roof was completed but it looks to me as if its very much improved the lighting. Although new loco-hauled stock for the UK has been long overdue the fact they've used unit type couplings on the Mk5 beds rather than "standard drawgear" will bite them on the backside at some point!
Thank You! I'm glad the roof has been finished, it wasn't the greatest! It was about time we got new loco hauled stock! I watched them couple the loco up it seem more of a hassle than the standard coupling! -kyle
@@kyle123481 I thought that either the camcorder had been set to manual record levels and were too high, or that the gain on the mic may have been boosted (some have +xxdb switches) - Must admit i do like the look of the 92's
Silly me had been messing with the setting as I bought an external Mic for it but didn't use it as I hadn't set it up yet but hadn't set the setting back to Auto!
Nice to see these nice-looking coaches being pulled by their matching loco! I'm surprised there were none of the old mark 3s used with the new mark 5s!
They cant as the couplings are different and the Mk3's couldn't couple up without an adaptor, class 92 had a modified coupling to couple to the carriages this video shows the modified coupling ua-cam.com/video/3xt9pycmGZ4/v-deo.html -Kyle
The window positions on these coaches make them look a lot better than the Transpennine versions but I still can't get over how bad the design of the bogies make them look... Like a kids toy.
Not wanting to be pedantic, but shouldn't birth be berth. Great video, excellent quality and definition, and she looks impressive on the outside, not sure about the interior though, a bit utilitarian. Thanks for sharing
Makes me do a #FacePalm to see these (good though they are) when we had the excellent 'Nightstar' sleepers built in mid '90s, project cancelled and then sold to ViaRail Canada for $139 Mn because we didn't have powerful enough locomotives and they weren't viable (excuse the pun) for Channel Tunnel use. Only BR could design a train that couldn't be powered. Even so they would have been perfect for Caledonia and Cornish Riviera sleepers but no we had to have another 18 years of Mk III stock. Indeed the South West will have these for years to come. 139 part complete carriages shipped to Canada where they are greatly liked and used every day and which should have been stored secure, modified, completed and used for the benefit of the UK taxpayers who subsidised the whole project and who eventually lost some £200 Mn..... As Littlejohn would remark: "You couldn't make it up"
Aye with the night star had gone through it would have been nice to have got an overnight train to Europe, it would have been nice if we had used the the stock! -Kyle
Parts feature in Great Canadian Railway Journies: this one, www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0c0bpyy/great-canadian-railway-journeys-series-1-1-halifax and I think in the next one. The day cars only though

I'm taking a trip on the sleeper from Perth to London in ten days. It's frustrating that these won't be in service on time.
It is but they've got to be tested and all done propper before they go into service!
-Kyle
@@kyle123481 I'm leaving the country so it's unlikely I will experience them at all.
Superb video of beautiful trains at night 💚👍

those compartments don't look to inviting do they
more like a prison cell than an overnight train with a little luxury added
The window positions on these coaches make them look a lot better than the Transpennine versions but I still can't get over how bad the design of the bogies make them look... Like a kids toy.
