In the scandinavian countries we have a rich tradition of talking shit about each other. We have been fighting each other alot. For example the two countries that have declared war on each other the most in history is sweden and denmark. While we don’t fight anymore the jokes have been so ingrained in our cultures that they live on but are now most said jokingly and with no ill intent, just like how friends might say mean things to each other but each friend knows they are not being serious and are merely teasing.

The thing with Stockholm syndrome that a lot of articles leave out is that the hostages didn't just suddenly start defending their captor for no reason. The police had been very reckless, and endangered the hostages multiple times during the kidnapping, and while that was going on the hostage taker was unusually nice to the hostages. It basically boils down to people siding with someone wronging them, because the ones trying to right the wrong are going about it in a way which alienates the wronged.

Fun fact: Swedish invasion in Poland is called "the Swedish flood", since the Swedes attacked by crossing the baltic sea, which froze during a particularly cold winter. Since then Poland can proudly state that it was invaded by literally all our neighbours, including the baltic sea.

The thing with Stockholm syndrome that a lot of articles leave out is that the hostages didn't just suddenly start defending their captor for no reason. The police had been very reckless, and endangered the hostages multiple times during the kidnapping, and while that was going on the hostage taker was unusually nice to the hostages.
It basically boils down to people siding with someone wronging them, because the ones trying to right the wrong are going about it in a way which alienates the wronged.
also the guy that came out with the term 'stockholm syndrome' and described the phenomenon never actually interrogated these hostages and asked them about the whole ordeal

By the way one of three fortres unconquered by them. Siege lasted months, and was commanded by the king himself Karl X Gustav. After many attemps of conquering the city he tried to trick defenders. He said that they won and he want to celebrate with defenders. Owner of city Jan II Zamoyski sensed the trick but wanted to host the King so he prepare tables with foods but without chairs and stools to humiliate the Karl Gustav and his elite. And from that day history about "Swedish table" was heard among the europe.

In Polish history we have a period called "potop szwedzki" which means "swedish flood" it's around the time when sweden went to war with everyone. They pillaged half of Poland but eventually had to admit defeat. Sigismund III Vasa was also a king of Poland through marriage.

The Swedish king Johan III married a Polish princess and their son Sigismund inherited both thrones. But since he had been raised in Poland and was a catholic him becoming king of protestant Sweden was impossible. So Karl IX, the brother of Johan III started a rebellion and usurped the Swedish throne from Sigismund.
But after that the Polish kings kept on claiming the Swedish throne, which pissed of the Swedish kings.
Unfortunately for Poland, the son of Karl IX that inherited the Swedish throne was Gustavus Adolphus the Great, the prophesied Lion of the North and father of modern warfare... Who ushered in the Swedish great power period.
The official term for it is "Deluge" also know as "Swedish Deluge". In Swedish it's called "Svenska syndafloden"
I remember I didn't even question the name when we were learning about it in school. I was like "potop szwedzki, to ma sens"
And then the great warrior Marcin Najman defended the city of Częstochowa and sent Sweds back across the Baltic sea.
