    That's a sweet setup. I like seeing how you have your camper laid out. My wife and I are on a traveling dirt sprint car team. We have a 30 ft 5th wheel camper that we travel with during the racing season. Thank you for the video. I enjoyed it.

      @@DownhillWelder300 you're welcome. I'm looking forward to that video. There's definitely a lot of things that go into living in a camper while on the road traveling. We enjoy it a lot more than staying in a hotel. What surge protector do you use? We use a watch dog surge protector that has Bluetooth so you can monitor everything.

    For those who are probably having a fit about how far back your camper is, you have plenty of weight counting in front of the axle, all that welding equipment is probably more weight than the tongue weight of that camper!

      Not much difference between this and a large bumper pull travel trailer, weight is still off the back end. Don’t worry about the mule, just load the wagon.

    • @NTM2009
      @NTM2009 4 місяці тому

      Yep lots of weight up front still. Probably enough weight that it's over payload

    • @KDIGGG
      @KDIGGG 4 місяці тому

      @@NTM2009doubtful, these have an 8k lbs payload rating, trailer likely has 2k lbs of tongue weight, leaves 6k roughly left for it to be overloaded. That welder doesn’t even weigh close to that

    • @NTM2009
      @NTM2009 4 місяці тому

      @KDIGGG not even close to 8k payload. With the diesel engine that truck will have ~4800lb payload. Bumper, welder, bed, gear , pin weight, people it will be darn close if not over payload

    I started on the pipeline right out of welding school with the dream of having a beautiful rig like you have. Done a lot of Kinder Morgan lines down in Alabama and Georgia. But as time went on I started wanting to get into the equipment side of things and after a lot of bothering for a chance for some seat time I found my passion. I enjoyed the welding side but that cold A/C in the cab mid summer changed my mind lol. I run a utility pipe crew in Charlotte, NC now and home every night. We need more people and channels like this to spotlight the industry and maybe draw in some of the younger generation. I’m 35 now and it’s almost impossible to find young people who have the drive and passion to learn the trades. There is lots of money to be made out here if you stick with it.

Had a 79 ford one ton dually with my welding bed on it, 200 sam that had about a million hours on it, still run smooth, 23 foot pull behind camper that was made in the 60's, no insulation, but, it made me the dollars. One possible way to clean corrosion off inside them contacts is take like 220 grit sand paper cut a strip 1/4-3/8" wide and about 4"long, fold it in half and use a feeler gauge to work it in and out. @@DownhillWelder300so I’ve come to the conclusion… I think Ford makes the best truck. Very close by GM, and Ram is dead last….
      I know all have problems… but let’s be real..
      and I’ve learned this cause I own the same truck 2018. And it’s always having problems.
      I’m meticulous as you are.. and it’s very frustrating. I hope one day after I replace every part on the truck it will go a year with no problem 😂

      I’ll own a GM next time. 100%. I’ve been a GM owner my whole life. My pickup at home is a Silverado. When i was buying this ram i was going of numbers (price) only since it was going to be a work truck. Option for option in 2017 this ram was about 7,000 cheaper than a GM and about 5-6,000 cheaper than a ford. Needless to say i got exactly what i paid for. The bad thing is, i really like the truck but i don’t ever want to go through this again with a vehicle. It’s endless it seems.

    Tip for the future ive worked in commercial tires for 20ish years. When i get customers with trailers i never recommend trailer tires honestly not sure why they even make them they usually last a thousand miles then blow. Instead i sell and all steel load range E or F truck tire that will last nearly forever. Also grand design makes the best trailers money can buy they are built like tanks

    Have you ever looked into just getting a gooseneck head for the camper? I’m not sure exactly where to buy them but I know they make them and it seems like it would be a lot simpler and save some time plus put the weight just a little more forwards, even though it doesint matter because the welder puts a lot of weight to the front, just a suggestion

    • @DownhillWelder300

      I have, but that puts the camper too close to the welding machine. It would end up hitting when i turn.

      I agree. I’ll probably never have a truck this nice again. Had to do it once. Each rig I’ve owned had over 250,000 miles on it when i retired it. I hope to get closer to 300,000 to 350,000 on this one. Sitting at 161,000 currently.
