    Great video man don’t be afraid to show your whole daily routine waking up in your RV cooking breakfast going into the job and don’t be afraid to go to basic with all the pipeline, welding, terminology and techniques. Most of us have basic welding knowledge but not anything about your awesome occupation.

      Thanks. It’s used to hook our grounds to. It holds our grounds and makes sure we ground through a specific point on the weld instead of randomly arcing to the pipe.

    So if you ever have to weld off of the truck is there anything special you have to do the truck? I got my first mobile weld job coming up and I have a vise that mounts in my trailer hitch. Wasn’t sure if using my portable generator to power my Lincoln MP 210 would mess up anything electrical on my truck if I weld from the hitch vise.

    • @DownhillWelder300
      @DownhillWelder300  4 місяці тому +1

      Keep the ground close to what you’re working with. Basically, make sure you don’t have a computer between your ground and your stinger. But you should be doing that anyway, even off the truck. Same theory as when you’re welding the vehicle. The only time I’ve seen issue was in a couple of upfitter shops when I worked for Peterbilt. Some of them would ground the chassis in a central location and then move all around the truck welding tabs, brackets or whatever.
      It was rare, but I’d see blown fuses or a fried EMC or body control module… worst one was a brand new fire truck. I was there for a week chasing wires. Turned out to be a fuseable link behind the dash.😳

    • @DownhillWelder300
      @DownhillWelder300  3 місяці тому +2

      Uphill is when you start at the bottom of the pipe and weld to the top. Mostly done in plants and refineries. Downhill is when you start at the top and weld to the bottom, pipeline.
