Downhill Welder
Приєднався 19 гру 2023
First generation Pipeliner that wanted something bad enough to risk everything for a dream so many have. My name is Shawn and I started my career as a plumber following in my father’s footsteps. I learned how to weld pipe and quickly realized that’s what I wanted to do as my profession. I’ve been putting pipe together ever since I was old enough to hand my dad a channel-locks under a sink and have been welding pipe for 15+ years. I’ve worked all around the mid west in multiple states and for many different companies. I’m here to share my experience and knowledge to hopefully help the next generation become skilled craftsmen with pride in their work.

I would love to have a welding rig with a anylift suspension on it so I can electrically control the height of my truck
I understand your military analogy but not everyone who applies will qualify for the military. Not to mention the military isn’t for everyone
It’s a good looking Rig ❤😎💯
Thank you brotha really pointed me in the right direction
Please make more content like this maybe some daily or weekly maybe even biweekly vlogs
Your videos help a lot with understand what I’m getting into becoming a welder. My goal is to be a rig welder and your videos are giving me a bit of an inside view on the life of a welder on and off the job site. Definitely subscribing
Love the bed and fenders on the duals.
Im in Pennsylvania welding pipe in shop. how can i get in back on the road?

My dad said he feels like he’s saw you he works for Mplx
Faith in chrysler is a bold statement
Do you have a straight pipe on that truck?
Pipeline rig ? For what ? 😅
Doesn't Make sense Cutting the Frame when you Could Use the space of a Larger & Longer Bed for Tool's, welding rods & equipment!
How do you change out your gas Bottles Without destroying your Back Lifting full Bottles into such a small space?
So do you set your own rate or you get jman scale?
I’m sitting here yellin “the lock-in pin dude! The lock-in pin!!!” at 15 mins 🤣🤣
I’ve seen many videos… your probably the best. My brothers and I all weld mainline. And our youngest brother is in high school and it’s hard to get it through his head. The drive… so he’s been glued to your videos for about 4 days now. Thanks buddy.
A 2 ft level, torpedos, receipt paper, . And learn to weld without a damn remote guys… Around the 4 corners… we change rods, not the heat 🤣 listen to what the old timers have to say. . . And learn to take constructive criticism.. OH! And pipe stretchers. Gota have em
Come on man we need more content from you please
Do I need a die grinder? I’m a student, went to trade school and got my welding/ assembly certification, now I’m doing a 6 month pipe welding course. I noticed that we use die grinders with flap disc grinding wheels on them to clean up the inside of the pipe where we weld the root. Not so much on Stick welding but more so when Tig welding. I’m looking at the Milwaukee m18 die grinders. Do it need that ? It’s the only power tool we use other than grinders
Nice rig, shame about the problems you have had though.
Where are you finding SA200s for 2500? Does it just depend on the region? I don’t know where to look but everything I see is crazy expensive even for older machines
In my opinion…. A lot of guys have these 15-18k welding machines… and most of us run 200’s. Yeah you’ll work on your 200 a lot… but once your 17k machine breaks down? You have to leave work and get it repaired and tear the thing apart… but a 200??? Kick it a couple times and get back to weldin. I’ve seen a buddy pour Gatorade in the radiator when the coolant froze in -65 degrees up in Montana. 🤣🤣
Give me a P.O. Box so I can send you some Trump stickers for that bad boy!
I’ll take it your a bldg trades local member but rig weld ?? ….. I am, but work through 798 on a lot of gas compressor station jobs
Hey man I dm’d you on insta. Had a question but your rig is badass man stay safe out there
OMG! I hope you get your maney out of it! Sorry for your loss.
Best piece of advice for someone lookin to get on as a helper and hopefully break out. Used to be an environmental laborer before I enlisted and I miss the ROW
Where was your bed made and what was it worth?
Is that crescent wrench SAE or metric?
Depends what country you’re from. If your country didn’t land on the moon, it’s metric. If it did, then it’s SAE.
@@DownhillWelder300 well that depends on what you mean by “land”China,India,Japan, and theUSA have all landed some sort of spacecraft on the moon
Nice truck 🛻
53 Series Kioti 4x4 with a bucket. Fill the tires. We’ve had ours for a little over a year and love it. Small enough to get through a 6’ gate, but big enough to get a 1,400 lb round bale of hay off the top row of a semi trailer if you don’t mind a little pucker factor.
That sounds exactly like what I’m after!! Thanks! I’ll check into them.
Any video of this beast going up? Always enjoy the start to finish type of fabrication videos.
A guy at work walked by while I was watching this video and told me about his neighbor that started out with a beat up, multicolored Tacoma and a big diesel Miller welder and dune torch bottles on a home built trailer. He said the guy ran that setup for about a year and a half before buying a Dodge Ram and a Lincoln to build a proper welding rig. The next year, he bought a second Dodge and a second welder. The third year, two more. Now, 5 years in, and he’s running a fleet of 12+ trucks with employees on his payroll.
I’m interested in the details on the B&W turnoverball hitch and the fifth wheel hitch mount. How’d you come up with the locations and how does it affect the amount of weight you can pull since they’re both behind the axle? Looking for that info is how I found your channel, and I’m for videos in now. I’m building a truck now and trying to avoid stretching the chassis, but I need to use the gooseneck and fifth wheel hitches still.
Hey that ram u have does it have a built transmission
What is a distribution contractor
my question exactly lmao. google told me thing lol
Put dielectric grease on the contacts pretty common sense ..
lol. Will dielectric grease keep the tabs from bending? No, “pretty common sense”.
Hello new sub here. Enjoy watching all your videos. Do you hunt on that property? Looks like a great spot to hunt.
No safety chains from the hitch to the truck or the breakaway cable.
You don’t need safety chains on a fifth wheel. The breakaway cable was hooked up before i left the driveway. Good eye.
I daily drove a Chevy for 28 years, daily driver! The only reason I sold it was I wanted a bigger truck. After 28 years and 1.7 million miles, it still had the factory power steering fluid in it, and the factory clutch fluid, other than changing the battery and alternator a couple times, I absolutely never had any problems with it.
That tag indention not being evenly spaced would drive me crazy. Not being a dck, its an outstanding build. But that would get me
Pause at 4:41 and look at that top picture. You'll see what I mean.
I see it now, too. With how precise everything else is on that bed, there has to be a reason for the slight offset.
