I have the BRG Elite 9 and a Springfield XD in .40S&W. I've seen you around on the live streams, but I think this the first time I've commented. Looking forward to catching up on your content. Thanks, Buddy.
oh i know who you are, i been 👀 watching you. welcome to the comments. i gotta lot of stuff here but hasn't been much the last couple of weeks. had the main lapotp die on me and trying figure out how to dig out of that hole and get back to it. meanwhile, the work is steadily piling up. 😂🤣
Wow thanks for sending me the link. That was an outstanding, well detailed professional review in reveal in comparison of the two platforms extremely detailed.. Great job! My XD will accept the BRG magazines and they drop free no issues at all. So that might be a Hit on miss situation.
oh mine fit, they are just way tighter than the other way around... but my XD and also the mags are literally some of the first to ever be produced as well, so old/well used... so there may be some tolerance issues at play there
I love my brg9! 200 bucks for mine and it’s solid! Trigger is actually great, my Glock feels like garbage compared to this. It’s comparable to my Hk45c.
oh yeah, they dumped the older models because the new models are coming out soon... go check my recent videos, pretty cool and still a good deal it looks like
i don't see why not... if you have watched any of my BRG9 videos, the 15 round XD work fin. the body of the magazine has nothing to do with the capacity the magazine still has to fit the same handgun, so it should.
We are in the cycle of life that allows Americans to purchase exceptionally well made firearms from Turkey through the import privilege at steal away prices. Unbelievable pricing for the quality offered. That's a blessing.
i take all kinds of heat in the comments for wearing gloves but it helps to keep hands clean, helps with hot barrels, mitigates pulse and recoil a bit... just something i am used to doing
hmm, that is a good question and the answer is that i do not know. if i get a chance, may try to swap them around and see. though the problem with that is i don't know if there ever was a barrel design change made on the XD from the early models to the later ones and i have a very early model, like literally they were only out for a few weeks.
i like that new xd copy really well from the looks of it and i like that zigana really well for price i personally am gonna stick with the g series taurus and get a few of them in different frame sizes because i have alot of magazines
One item I noticed immediatly....the XD has a wrapped frame. Look at how the front of the frame rounds up and touched the slide. Glocks do the same....sad quality!!!
That BRG9 looks really nice. As far as the fiasco with Springfield and Rock River, I was never into Rock River. But I was supposed to pickup a new XDM in about two day's, it was the 5.25 inch competition pistol. I'm a revolver and 1911 guy and it would've been my first polymer 9mm, come to think of it my first 9mm but the story broke and I cancelled my order and didn't look at Springfield for a couple of year's. Then I was reading an article about what had happened and according to the article everyone at Springfield who was involved was fired and they did make a soft apology. I will say that for under a thousand dollar's they have a number of nice 1911's. Oh I heard you the other night on the podcast say that you're fine with carrying a 5 shot revolver for self-defense. I find my 5 to 8 shot revolver's are fine. God Bless and good night!
on defensive use, everyone gotta make those decisions based on a bunch of personal factors and yeah I am fine with just having 5 of 38 special. as for Springfield, everyone has to make their deciisons there too and ultimately, who knows. for those who do hold a grudge, my point here is simply this might be a viable replacement option.
The BRG9 felt good in my hands and was a smooth shooter at SHOT Show range day. But I only put a few rounds through it. Hopefully you, TJ and others who got review guns will bring them to The Gathering next month so I can get some more time with them. 😎
@@CloverTac We will have to see how it goes. Usually, when we stay on site we end up with access to range bays and can get permission to use them once the civilians clear out at the end of each day. :)
so there was a comment earlier along those same lines with some Underwood ammo. keep in mind that cheaper firearms often lack refinement (hands on labor) because that increases the cost exponentially. my advice is to take the barrel out, then polish up the feed ramp. if you are uncomfortable doing this (which i would advise you getting comfortable because it is a common part of mainenance on firearms) then you could always seek some quick help from a gunsmith in your area. hope this helps.
also worth noting that many handguns can have issues with longer projectiles... not all ammo works properly with all handguns, also common. finding ammo that offers a little shorter projectile is the solution in that case.
The only thing I don't like about my XD 45 is the spongy feeling trigger. Seems like the more rounds I put through it, the worse it gets. No real wall.
yeah, i didn't remember the BRG9 well enough to really compare just from memory. but once i got it, was sorta surprised at what all i liked about it compared to my XD and as stated, i have historically loved my XD and many others who have borrowed it for their LTC class has loved it too
genius note here but YOU should start doing videos specifically on the grip angle of handguns, nothing else, make that your area of expertise, seriously
Hey @CloverTac any idea who besides Alien Gear makes a good IWB holster for these BRG9 also are the XD9 aftermarket sights interchangeable with the BRG9?
i do not know of anyone making a specific holster for this... there has been a LOT of traction on these lately and that has not been the case since the release at the first of the year, so maybe some will start to trickle out since there is interest. i have played around with mine along side some xd holsters and they are super, super close. i think a kydex xd holster, with a little heat, would likely work out well. as for the sights, i really have no clue. my suggestion would be to hit up Night Fision support and ask. i know that BRG USA has done some work with them in the past and they would know. i have not attempted to change these over... but they do appear to be very similar.
update, as fat would have it just talked with BRG USA today and was told the P220 rear and the M&P front offer the best fit as far as sights... now we know
Did you ever find a good holster for it? I heard XD holsters would work and thought I had a inexpensive one picked but it ended up being a XD mod 2 and wasn't sure if that would work.
Thank you for this. Hopefully other BRG9s will work as well with the 16 round XD9 mags, because those things are everywhere. Do you know if the grip safety on the BRG9 has to be depressed in order to lock the slide back, or to pull it back at all like the XD? The fact that you have to have the grip safety depressed on the XD to move the slide is one of the few things I dislike about the Croatian gun.
Well, we won't need to see if it's an XD9 killer because Springfield isn't importing the XD9 anymore. They stopped back in 2020, if I'm not mistaken. They leaned hard into the Mod.2 and XDM models. I really like the Mod.2 over the original XD, and I've owned both. I think they discontinued the Mod.2 as well. Pretty much all XDMs now.
@@CloverTac I heard it from a Springfield rep back in 2020. I've been out of the industry for about a year now, so maybe things have changed. Hell, they told me in product training back in 2013 that they would never ever make an XD or XDM in 10mm because no one would buy it. Lo, and behold, they put one out and it sells like hot cakes. But, to put in some context, they wanted to displace the legacy XD with the Mod.2 for two reasons: 1. They simplified some of the machining procedures and made the gun more cost effective over the legacy model. 2. The Mod.2 used the same locking blocks as the XDM, which meant they could use the same barrel profiles as the XDM, meaning they could bulk cut barrels from the same profile programming in their machines. Sharing parts with the XDM is both financially and logistically attractive. It's actually pretty neat. You can take a Mod.2 frame and swap slide assemblies with an XDM and they fit and function interchangeably. It's neat.
sounds a lot like what Walther did when they switched from the PPQ to the PDP. i honestly do not pay much attention to SA... especially since their anti 2A shenanigans. honestly, just too many other great businensses in the industry now days (my opinion of course). i can tell you from my talks with industry people week in and week out... poly pistols are not moving well at all right now, everyone is saying there is too much saturation. that is why you are seeing a rise in things like the high power clones, 2011s and so on. there should be some really interesting stuff coming down the line, i know of quite a few cool things from companies currently in the words for a SHOT Show 2023 release.
yup, lot of people came into the community due to self defense, poly handguns, ars, etc but are finding out there is a lot of cool stuff beyond just those things. plus as i said, that poly and ar market is very very saturated
I was looking at this BRG9 on classic and did nit know well. Now I do and I have you to thank! But in yiur opinion would you buy this gun or is the px9 gen 3 a better fun? pretty big way back in the day, probably 15 or so years ago now when i first bought mine... was supposed to be the Glock killer, that obviously didn't happen but my XD9 is still to this day a great performer. i have loaned it to many people over the years so they could take their TX license qualifications.

it's my understanding that companies will take expired patents and make the gun but do their on version of it and make it even better.
yeah, been pretty much that way every since the very first patent expired

@@CloverTac Yes I would say so.
Solid comparison! Thanks for the info!!

my pleasure, hope it helped
Sportsmans outdoor has this bad boy for $189.99 + free shipping.
$204.28 out the door!! Just picked up 2!
yeah, there have been a lot of people with similar comments lately. it is great to see them finally being readily available out in the wild.
I got 3
But are the calibers comparable, like can I us xd threaded barrel for the brg9?

are you one of those who does not watch an entire video? 🤣😂

If I were considering a striker fire, the BRG would make the short list.
yeah, hard to go wrong at the MSRP, was thinking that after the range day and pretty well confirmed at this point
Resembles a xde alot
Glade see lot updated feature in price point way under what a xde is. BrG is a 230.00 gun on their sight from what I been seeing.
