Great info. Much appreciated. I’ve already grabbed my second junkyard track for the tleg but I’d like to repair the last one that failed as a backup since the junkyard is 60 miles from me
Great video! A question for you... About 10 years ago I had to do this same job, switch out the track & motor from the junkyard for my '93 Legacy Wagon. But ever since, the seatbelt light blinks all the time, even with all the belts clicked in. Apparently because there is a process to get the detection system to recognize the new belt? Or something.. I searched high and low for answers, got a bunch of different answers, tried them all and nothing works. Do you have any idea about how to get the light to function correctly again? I'm having stalls again on the track now. Hoping that the WD40 on the track and door sensor will help. Otherwise I'm just gonna disengage the motor and use it manually before it gets stuck in the "out" position again. Thanks again for the video!
I have a 1990 Honda Accord Sedan that has a seat belt just like this. The passenger side almost always stays stuck forward. Every once in awhile, it will move back. What I did was unplug the fuse that says passive motor and that kept it in its back position. I’m not sure what’s really wrong with it. I haven’t looked at it yet.
hey this is insanely helpful thanks. maybe you know about another problem my automatic 1994 subaru legacy has it doesn't like to shift out of park I have to force it using the shift lock mechanism. what's weird is some days it will work and some days not. have you experienced this?
Raccoon wrenchin. First of all thank you for the incredibly informative video. I just back probed the seatbelt wire in the door and there was just a click like the seatbelt wanted to move but couldnt. Now im at a deadend because every other diagnosis seems normal to my eyes. Any pointers?
If it sounds like the belt is trying to move it's likely jammed in the track and stuck you could try probing the door switch again and when you hear the motor engage try hitting the belt latch to try and unstick it and help it along, I would also spray some WD-40 in the track first to loosen things up.
This is exactly what I needed so thank you. Going to attempt to do this on my 89 rx7 at some point soon
Holy shit thanks for this. I need to fix my 93 Mazda MX-3. Cheers!

What a nightmare just for a seatbelt 😳
Lesson taken is to actuate it into position and use it manually haha

Also to add the driver seatbelt works flawlessly but the passenger is the one that has never worked since i got the car.
