Another great video and practical as always as this type damage is stuff that we run into all the time. The door panel that had the deep wrinkles, that is the foam underneath the vinyl or urethane skin that gets messed up. We have to recover those if they are really bad. As you mentioned heat will NOT fix that damage, it can make it worse ( ask me how I know ...) but fortunately we can recover the top sections. For repairs you did a great job, much cheaper and faster and sufficient for many folks. It's hard to believe the window tint guy damaged ALL 4 door panels on a new car , you'd think after the first one he would ask for help or quit. And we have run into that before too, as if we need more work! Love the intro music and that old red Ibanez! Take care my brother!

Thanks for mentioning recovering the Suburban door panel parts. I left that hang in the narrative as a dead end for those hoping to simply repair.
That year and model Ibanez gets rave reviews online among Strat enthusiasts! I was between gigs with a Mosrite that wouldn't stay in tune so picked this up on the way. Sold the Mosrite too which I now regret.

Excellent videos. So much great info in all of these. In addition to your tech tip about the gm key fobs, for many customers I will use some aluminum foil tape, a standard hole punch and put those punchings on the backside of the rubber to replace the worn away conductive surface pads. Works like a charm.

I changed my door panel because the Vinyl had lifted away from the trim.

Great video! I have a C6 Z06 that needs some love. My elbow has created an indentation & crack due to sprinted driving on curvy roads. The seats are so poorly designed that you have to brace yourself using your elbows. Now it may sound like I’m ragging on this car. Actually I’m not. The seats just don’t match the performance ability of the rest of the car. Anyway, I’m trying to learn how I can repair the door panels myself. What is the best filler to bring the repair even with the surface that will have some level of strength to withstand my elbow pressure. Yea maybe a good performance bucket seat might be in the future as well. Thank you any insight you might be able to offer.

You'll have to be the judge as for what the damage needs. We've covered several door panel and armrest repair ideas already. I recently posted a video index to help you find them. If you have a question about a specific product please ask your supplier.

Great repair mate. Like the song intro. So I ave noticed when I have to put multiple layers of Spray texture ( I’m using vipers water base sprain grain over here in Canada )it can look shiny side angle if you had to use multiple layers..even when I flatten paint it just looks different side angle particularly on dashes.is it because I think you might be using a water base primer as texture instead as opposed to a regular spray grain say like w2 ?

Thanks Morgan. I am using the same water base coloring system for the leather as for my texture. I don't use any of the materials sold specifically for spray grain. One reason is softness doesn't allow for sanding with 400 grit. I do add the harder plastic primer as mentioned. Also perhaps I could feature more of how I control the sheen through every step. Of course, the 400 grit step evens the sheen across the panel ready for the final step. Thanks for this observation and I will look to do an update in the future.

I hate it too but but doctor's orders since surviving the cancer a few years ago. Add it up: hottest day of summer, full sun, on the asphalt, in the car, heat gun at 1000 degrees, camera overheating, trying to get a shot that techs from Montana and Ohio have been asking for...all for a free video. Then you come along.
