This is the video I've been looking for! Everyone else on UA-cam are using polishing machines and, in some cases, disassembling the dash to achieve the exact same result.
Did this today on all my gloss interior panels. I wish my cars exterior paint polished out as fast as those panels did. It took no time at all and they were heavily scratched and covered in swirls
Thank you for this video. I just received my E400 cabriolet back from detailing and the wood looked really bad - it looked hazy and had residue on it. I ran out and got this product, and it did a great job!
Dry microfibers can do a lot of damage especially on high gloss or fragile painted surfaces. I prefer to lightly dust the surface and the microfiber I’m working on with water

I did this on my 2017 BMW with the infamous black trim and it worked well, I can still see scratches under a light but I think it’s because I tried to use regular compound and polish first. Start light on these interiors
Thanks, mate! It really works on my Hyundai Tucson. Just a little tiny area near the gear knob. Annoying scratches has gone. Thumbs up! Warm regards from Indonesia 🙏
Thanks for the video. What would you recommend to get rid if any scratches (not tears ) on the leather trim on the dashboard (I have a merc e400) thanks
Will this also works on dashboard glass ? Outside windshield or any headlong or glass or body ? I mean exterior .What kind of cars are compatible ? BMW , Audi , Lexus ? Thank You
6 years too late ; but will this work you said on piano black vaneer? Not so sure if it's actually vaneer or plastic, but its a range rover black interior trim
How do you remove scratches from the leather. I had a dog freak out and it scratched up my glove box and door panels pretty good. They are not super deep but there are a lot of them
Its basically removing an extremely thin layer of the clear coat as thats where the swirls are .. anything that has penetrated deeper than the clear coat cannot be "buffed out" though
At my local auto shop they have the new version of the scratch remover with the wax protection in the product. Would this mean I wouldn’t have to use a wax after applying the scratch remover?
Will this work on piano black plastic interior. My car has a few light to medium scratches in the gloss black plastic trim. I’m against using fine scratch removers in case it makes the plastic look worse. I’m guessing the bottom panel below the wood effect is actually gloss black plastic.
I tried scratch x with hands. Didn’t work . My scratches is actually not as worse as yours. Not sure why. Does the wax really necessary ? Did i miss something
It might work, but it may look odd after applying. The plastic covering the gauges isn't the same as the interior car trim so while the method described in the video may fill the scratches, it might still be noticeable.
I have used it for this with some success, if you can feel it with your nail its probably too deep. It will improve the appearance in most cases though.
Thanks for this great vid! I'll be sure to point others towards it. Question: I am finding it hard to get the 2.0 version. Even on Amazon many people are saying they did not receive the correct 2.0 when ordering. Will the regular Maquire's Scratch X do the same job? Upon reading instructions and use by others the regular may only be for exterior paint scratches. What's your experience and/or input on this, please? Thank you, again.
did it work on your Jag? I am about to purchase a xjs and there are faint scratches that I would love to "Buff" out or I guess just hide with wax if it works.
The Meguire’s scratch remover is a multipurpose scratch remover. I have personally used it on the exterior of my Jeep. It worked good, but no testament to interior.
The Meguiars Scratch remover won't work to fix a burn mark. It mostly deals in surface level markings such as light scratches. Your best bet for that is to bring it to a professional.
2023 $75k fully loaded cadillac escalade scratches so easy. You would think luxury cars are more bulletproof, but they are crazy sensitive. My 2015 kia optima plastics are more scratch resistant, and it only cost me 17k (used) 😂
Anything's worth trying at this point. Beats using a heat gun which some have suggested. 😬 Personally I really wish Auto designers would come up with a better product that doesn't scratch lol. 🤔 But in my case looking for something to use around my gear shift. They're not deep scratches really. Just the annoying kind that remind you they're there every time you get in your vehicle lol. This seems like a good solution to try here. :b
@@AlbanyCountyFasteners The reason is I am thinking if it will work on plastic, pieces you guys tested it on leather, that looks awesome, I want the same results,
Good video! I'm trying to do the same job, but on a matt silver trim on a 2017 Subaru Outback dashboard (in front of the passenger's seat) which has some light scratches. Problem is it looks like the dark plastic base is barely visible, so I'm afraid it's not just a matter of restoring the shine... Any suggestions to fix it?
You can try the Meguiar's Scratch Remover we used, but that's more for light surface-level scratches. Wouldn't hurt to try! If that doesn't work, you're gonna need something stronger. Maybe a compound of some kind that works in deep scratches. Off-hand, we don't know any, but if the scratch remover doesn't work it may be worth searching around for.
do you have to use the wax at the end? why do you need it - does it remove more scratches than just the scratch remover compound? Looks to be plenty shiny before you use it.
The effects will wear off in time and it has to be reapplied. It is a wax that fills the scratches, you cannot polish those scratches by hand with a towel.
This is the video I've been looking for! Everyone else on UA-cam are using polishing machines and, in some cases, disassembling the dash to achieve the exact same result.
Honestly, if you're disassembling the dash you're getting more coverage on the parts, so better results. But it's not necessary for everyone
😂 bro frfr looking for the easy way out 😂😂😂

Not a lot of videos about this subject. Thanks for the info!
Do you think normal polish (for exterior paint work) would work on the interior panels? Or might it destroy it?

What does the compound wax do when applied? Is it just to restore shine after the scratch treatment, or does it also help remove scratches as well?
Its basically removing an extremely thin layer of the clear coat as thats where the swirls are .. anything that has penetrated deeper than the clear coat cannot be "buffed out" though

Sure
Hey, does the same process work for the gloss plastic on the outside (particularly the gloss on the doors and mirror housing)?
Yes, those should work just fine. Just be sure to apply the paste wax afterwards.
This was satisfying to watch... can't wait to try
Will this also work on the gear console glass , where you have the info and sports button.
eeby varghese it will work on any gloss plastic surface
Would it work on the wood plastic as well?
So is this better than using meguiar's plastX? (Supposedly for plastics)

Don't understand why but Scratch X works great. If you don't see improvement, then something is wrong with the surface you are working on.
