WOW, this is a craft I havent seen for about 25 years. I used to do this on a big scale with baby fabric and lace trim for nurseries. Lots of work but stunning results.

The easiest way for me to find the "north and south poles" is to place a rubber band in two directions around the ball. Place one around the ball's center up and down and the other around the ball sideways or across the balls middle. Works every time. Where they cross are your marking points for the centers.

It would be helpful (and nice) if you brought the finished item to the camera and turned it slowly so we can see all aspects of it.
I absolutely love this, but knowing my anal retentive nature, if I made a mistake I’d get waaayyyy too stressed out! It’s a fun battle for me. Maybe I will start with something slightly easier before tackling this gorgeous project! Amazing design work!
ok so I am bad at math so it takes me a little longer to understand it but what is the 3.14 for in the maths? I am really confused...I really want to make this.

all that measuring totally put me off but i do like it, i wouldnt attempt to make it with all that math involved, isnt there a simpler way?
+seriouslyscrapping Nope. If you want to make the ornament you've gotta do the math. It might be a little intimidating at first but it's really not as bad as you might think.
- seriously scrapping: Use a practice ball or do one in quarters, just four panels. once you go through it, it will be easier and you will find the project satisfying. ; )

I love your videos. Your instructions are very precise. After watching a few of your videos I became a subscriber. When you're using centimeters I just look it up on my measuring tape and I don't find it hard at all. By the way, what kind of glue stick are you using in this video?
Awesome! Thank you! The glue stick in this video is not what I use today. The one in the video is blue when wet and then dries semi-clear. It's got a bit of white in it when it dries, so I stopped using it and now use one that dries fast and completely clear. Honestly, any glue stick should work as long as it dries entirely clear.

What type of knife/cutter and tucking tools are those?

Centimeter problem? Why not just flip over your measuring tape. Most have centimeters printed on the other side. No centimeters? Just buy a new tape. They are not that expensive and worth the update. By the way - gorgeous ornament. Thanks for the upload. It is appreciated.
Very pretty, but I won't be making it. I'd have to learn what a centimeter is and it's not worth my time. I live in the US and we use inches. And yes, I use inches, feet, yards and so on in my everyday life. But your design is pretty.

Sorry, but no.
I live in Japan and here we use the metric system. My foam balls are made and measured in centimeters. It makes no sense for me to try to convert things into inches. I would end up with measurements like 2.76 inches, and so on. (What a pain in the ... you know.)
When making these ornaments precise measurements are very important. Every millimeter counts if I want my ornament to be even and symmetrical, sticking to the metric system is the only way I can be sure to get the best results. Also, I don't even own a measuring tape in inches.
If you would like the measurements in inches you will need to do your own conversions. Google makes it super easy with their conversion tool. Just search cm to inches to find their nifty conversion calculator.
that's ok, I know how to convert cm to in. Just wondering if you had done it in inches for those of us that live in the USA.
The inch system is not as accurate and also has a lot of flaws because math is based in 10ths and inches are based in powers of 2 (like 2^1 = 2, 2^2 = 4, 2^3 = 8, 2^4 = 16 etc)
So for example how much is 1,3 inches on the ruler, there is none because you only have 1/16th 1/8th 1/4th and 1/2nd markings.
I never understood why didn't the Americans upgrade to metric system. It is just much more reasonable.
Growing up in the US I never questioned the use of inches and Fahrenheit. Now that I live abroad I see how silly it is. Also, since there are only 3 countries in the world that use inches, it makes much more sense to offer my tutorials in the more widely used metric system. I also wish I spoke Spanish. I would reach a wider audience if I could do these videos in both English and Spanish. Unfortunately I was silly and took French in high school. Complete waste of my time. That and my head is now so full of Japanese I don't think another language would fit. ;p
