Add a external trans cooler it'll add so much life to the transmission. Had mine over 10 years and i drive it like i stole it and it's still hanging it there

Ive considered selling it but its such an enjoyable car to drive around in, ive put about 25-30k miles on mine in the past 3.5 years and i might keep it for a while. If you remove the plenum cover and clean out the EGR pathways the engine will run considerably better, easy too just use some brake cleaner. you should hop on acurazine as well.

I loved that car and I love this car. It is fast, luxurious, has a kick butt stereo and is sporty in an understated way. It is a joy to drive and the cabin is real comfortable. I dig the subtle exhaust note and the engine has a refined, performance note as well. These cars are very rare, so it has that appeal. If you can find one, you should take it for test spin........

@@juanayon66 Look into the IACV(idle air control valve)..also check your egr stuff, I found out today that a tiny hose leading to an egr port had popped off and when I reconnected it and started the car it idled fine
TheGreatSamdini it was the iac i had replaced it and recently got a 02 RL and the same thing seems to be happening it’s a running problem with these cars
I just bought a 01 CL Type S at the auction for $150.00 had a crushed drivers fender and headlight. Fixed it for around $400 and just love this MF to the Maxx. It's Automatic with 174,000mi. Now I'm selling my Lexus LS460L. Video coming soon of my CL. Love that car. Yep
I owned a 2000 CL 2.3 manual. They are reliable cars for the price. I would've tried to get it down to 2500 because of its age and it's not manual lol had to throw that in there. But the best thing about these cars are dealership recalls have no major issues. 🖒

I got a 2001 cl type s with 270,000 miles all i do is change the oil and drive her hard as fuck. Runs and drives perfect no lights on. Had to put a trans in it so went on the forums and they said you could put a auto trans out of a 2006 accord and thats what i did and never had a problem. Supposedly honda fixed the problem in the trans in 2006
Oh and the car had a brandnew not used trans when i bought it with 110,000 miles on it knowing these generation hondas have transmission problems so i changed the trans fluid every 6 thousand miles and it still started to slip and blew up eventually

that's only if you flush it with a machine. Honda automatics love fresh fluid and will act funny the older it gets. I change the fluid in my 2000 TL which has the same trans as this every year and my Transmission always shifts smoother and more crisp after every drain and fill.

I got my 2001 CL types S for $20 USD. It had a little north of 170k miles on it. It only needs a driver side window. The rims need to be refinished at some point, and at some point I will put a new exhaust system, rims, coil overs, spoiler, new racing seats (I might race it at some point, idk), custom window tint, change from AT to MT with a FWD conversion to a RWD, weight reduction, and more. How much more? No idea.

My 01 CL type s has 320k miles on it and didn't do anything other than regular maintenance and give it hell daily. Got a few mods done but like you've surely found out it has zero aftermarket support
I definitely like the luxury of it... heated seats, GPS, sun roof...I'm to 200,000 miles on the car... some issues here n there nothing major bought it in like 2012. I haven't did much maintenance on it... probably why I have the small issues lol 10 years later still didn't do a tune up rarely do oil changes

QbertTehKiller what's up man. Actually mine also has a slight shimy sometimes on certain roads. I thought it was a slightly unbalanced tire but checked out all the suspension and it looks like my inner tie rods are the culprit. I Wil be making a video soon on how to replace them. Hope that helps.
DNALI thanks for that. I thought the same but I actually just did tie rods and control arms. Might be winter tires or even trans shuddering on mine. I’m going to be doing an av6 trans swap you should consider the same if you wanna keep it automatic. I love these cars super quick but they got too much motor for the driveline lmao

Really really bad choice buying the automatic version!! Theres a major recall on the transmission!! The best choice you could have done was buy the 2003 6 speed ...its okay though youll learn the right way..
Lost me at auto. Even for commuting. Ive put 100k of commuting in awful NY traffic and roads. The whole point was if you drive that much you want a manual so your not bored to death. I guess I am weird and currently drive a manual 2019 Hyundai despite the DCT being quicker and a little more efficient. I don't even like driving that much anymore but when I must drive, knowing I get to drive my manual, it makes it more desirable . Im not a kid and have bad back and all that. But I also like Hiking up steep mountains for fun so unless you have a hi performance (stiff) clutch I think you have to be terribly lazy or weak to think a light clutch is really such a hassle. You get a tiny bit of exercise driving at least, instead of zoning out in an automatic with no ability to have fun reving out and banging gears for fun. makes travelling more fun. I am weird though so who knows.

Its not recommended to change your transmission fluid in an automatic that regular especially such an old car you might experience slips
