@Commentor1 I think you're a year off...I owned a '98 and it had the body-colored skirts. The '97s were black, and had a different steering wheel as well, if I recall.
Paid $1500.00 for mine in 2010 from a friend that was helping me out. Still driving it with 325k miles. Timing belt got sloppy so changed it with kit (Waterpump/tensioner/sprocket) and replaced starter 1 time. hell it runs like a champ. hoping to take it to 500k! Wish me luck. Regular maintenance of course!
Just bought one of these... a few cosmetic blemishes on the exterior, it was a city car. Overall, really clean for it's age. $2200 with 108k miles. Goddamn, its a dream! Purchased it as a cheap runner for my gf, but I've been stealing it as much as I can. There is something distinct about Japanese cars from the 90's. I am a BMW guy, and I am starting to feel the same attachment to this 3.0 CL as I do for my E30 325is and my E46 M3. once the gf is done with it, it's getting a 5 speed manual and it'll be my daily!
I leased one in August of '98. Really liked it...wasn't without flaws, but it pretty nice even by today's standards, IMO. Would have kept it, but a couple weird incidents with the trans seeming to slip out of gear (dealership couldn't duplicate) scared me off. Too bad they didn't get that right.
Got one as my first car back in 2012. Loved every moment I had with it. Engine still ran like butter when i eventually moved on from it. Such a fantastic underrated car.
Wow, this is a wonderful coupe. Great engine, nice interior, good leg room in the back, and good amount of trunk space. Everything that most people would want in a coupe but don't always get.
now this is the kind of sporty, reliable, good handling, well appointed car that's very reasonable and affordable to drive...one of the reasons I've driven Honda/ Acura for over 30 years...my 8 year old Acura TSX bought used for $12K with only 45K miles is the best car I've ever owned and it's performance, handling and reliability is better than any BMW for twice the price!
late 90's and early 00s acuras are some of the better cars ever built in my opinion. Decent engines, quiet ride, and forever reliability. Not the best choice for the enthusiast but its a worthy investment for a DD.
Great review Kyle. I know that Acura is the luxury brand of Honda, but couldn't help but notice all the Honda Accord parts in it. Even the ignition chime. Reminded me of my '90 Accord back in the day. Super luxurious cabin tho! Loved it. Thanks again...
I wonder how the handling for this CL is versus a 1998-2002 or 2003-2007 ACCORD . I am assuming it wouldn't be as good as a TSX/PRELUDE handling but I am curious if it's better than a regular ACCORD from those times. TSX vs ACCORD big difference
@JedemPoKucama Neutral is the same as with manual, that is, it can be pushed. The parking gear however fixes the car in position, so even in an incline or decline, the vehicle won't roll away.
@Jakeman21642 Actually, Cadillac was originally a more upscale version of Oldsmobile, now they run on their own special platforms, even though, the new XTS is riding on the new LaCrosse/Malibu platform.
I just got An Acura CL 3.0 In the video at 05:06 you open up a little compartment for storage (which I have too), there is a a little button underneath it in my car, do you know what that button is for?
Wow, those indicator/wiper stalks are the EXACT same as in my 1998 Rover 200 (a British made car, not available in the US or Canada). It seems the same parts were used by different manufacturers...
Might be about to get one of these in a trade. 98 3.0 with premium package. super clean bluish silver with 195k. he has it listed for 2600 and I'm gonna trade him my 94 yz250 dirt bike
@jmurray01 well its was for the 80s Honda had partnership with British Leyland and the first car i think was really a Honda was the Triumph Acclaim for 81-84
@th3m8ngtree im talkin people who dont take their cars on washes. person i know brought a 06 lexus rx330 in 2008 with no rust. they brought it in the beginning of winter and after 2 seasons it started to rust on the hood and rear wheel wells. my cars dont rust except on the bottom but thats after 6-8 years
@Annihilator1111 [BUZZZZZ] Sorry, wrong answer. It was built in East Liberty, Ohio. Honda-Marysville didn't start building Acuras until the introduction of the '99 TL sedan.
I bought one of these in 2000, was one of the best cars I've ever owned. Luxurious yet sporty, I would get plenty of looks while driving it.
Yeah whenever people see a dude drives a chick's car, that sort of thing tends to happen😉
Hating much lmao
all this shit for a 1998? wow... Acura did good. its ahead of its time.
@Commentor1 I think you're a year off...I owned a '98 and it had the body-colored skirts. The '97s were black, and had a different steering wheel as well, if I recall.
I absolutely love the older cl's. Amazing car inside and out. Plan on getting another one real soon!

Props to the owner for keeping this car up so nicely. This car is IMMACULATE!
Got one as my first car back in 2012. Loved every moment I had with it. Engine still ran like butter when i eventually moved on from it. Such a fantastic underrated car.
Another car ive never even heard of before. Kyles channel has really broadened my car interest over the years.
I have a 1999 Acura CL with 225,000 miles and still going strong. I just can't give it up!
I love that your videos are so random, one day can be a ferrari, and the other day an acura. I like randomness
I got this car as my first car in high school but mine was white. It was such an awesome car and I loved it so much. I miss driving it everyday
I bought a brand new 1 in 97" 2.2 cl.. had it for 6 years great car never had any problems... Loved it.
Wow, this is a wonderful coupe. Great engine, nice interior, good leg room in the back, and good amount of trunk space. Everything that most people would want in a coupe but don't always get.

Acura's are really great cars! I love the TL and the TLX! Really great cars. Very reliable
I love owning this car. It's comfortable, has a smooth ride, and is relatively quick.
late 90's and early 00s acuras are some of the better cars ever built in my opinion. Decent engines, quiet ride, and forever reliability. Not the best choice for the enthusiast but its a worthy investment for a DD.
thinking of buying 1 tomorrow actually. scheduled for a test drive
Get a manual
That has to be one of the oddest font choices for a gauge cluster I've ever seen.... I like it
we used to one the exact one w/o the leather. the rear isn't as pointy as I thought it was. good video as always, sir.
Ahh...LOVED my 99 CL 2.3. Kinda miss it. Fantastic video as always Kyle!
a v6 vtec have to sound perfect
Great review Kyle. I know that Acura is the luxury brand of Honda, but couldn't help but notice all the Honda Accord parts in it. Even the ignition chime. Reminded me of my '90 Accord back in the day. Super luxurious cabin tho! Loved it. Thanks again...
This car loaded with everything. even the newer car lack today
Ah, of course, I see the connection now. Acura is a Honda product, and so was Rover for a while in the nineties. Got it now!
My dad had one from 04-07. Awesome awesome coupe. Bose system. Wish you had unlocked it in the beginning to hear the chirp !!
Great little car but hard to find in such good shape like this one.
I love the fancy font on the old acura gauges.
No matter what the car, his videos are great!
P.S. If you can, please do a range rover review please!
For a V6, Great mpg! Nice sound too! Great review Kyle! :]
I always liked these older Acuras.
that is some funky font on the speedo
Neat car! Great video as always Kyle!
I like seeing the exhaust in the colder weather.
the engine on the 1997-1999 Acura CL
Engine
2.2 L F22B1 I4
2.3 L F23A1 I4
3.0 L J30A1 V6
Acuras really hold up well. Looking forward to a long time with my new ILX 2.4
I have a bright red 3.0 with the spoiler and only 42k miles... most fun and comfortable car for its size
Is it quieter than an accord?
200HP? WOW That 3.0 liter engine has come along way.
damn that engine cover looks brand new. btw i know somebody that has the same car but in black.
I like this. Really cool looking and it also looks like it would be very comfortable for a long road trip, for some reason...
Thinking about getting 98 cl 2.3 but i am worried as i've heard about transmission problems. Is this year okay?
wow 65k. thats rare. even more cause where i am 75% of cars 2 yr old are rusting. great video
Wow, what a beauty and a rare find. I want.
You should do a video on a acura integra from 1995-2001
its either 94-95 obd1 or 96-01 obd2 (integras)
You always find cars with good miles..
Awesome automobile! Thanks for sharing, Kyle!
wow excellent condition
Just a correction, a 5-speed was NOT an option for 3.0 models. It was only available on the 4-cylinder 2.2 and 2.3CLs.
I own a 1999 model and still going strong after 247.000 miles. I had to change the transmission though LOL
Wat was it issue with the transmission
Thanks for doing this car!!!
Have you ever done a Toyota Tundra??? UA-cam has updated itself and it's hard to find the Toyota playlist.
Really like where the fog lights are located.
GREAT! Finally a car I can afford!
Kyle, why u no make video of 2011 Infiniti QX 56 with center counsel in the second row?!?!?!? I like video though:)
A Beautiful Acura CL👍
Great video! I wonder if you could find any Peugeot 505s from the late 80s/early 90s?
@JedemPoKucama Neutral is the same as with manual, that is, it can be pushed. The parking gear however fixes the car in position, so even in an incline or decline, the vehicle won't roll away.
You need to give newer acura's some love too..
Wow! Thats sharp! Love Acura coupes.
LOL that first beeping sounded like those old cheap square blue alarm clocks
hahaha
Saabkyle can you tour the 2005 mini cooper s cabrio? and as always keep up the good work I love your vids!
Hey I didn't see a place to open the trunk from the outside of the vehicle. Was the key hole hidden?
I know this is an old video, but did anyone else see the lexus and think of haggard garage?
lol me!!!
@Jakeman21642 Actually, Cadillac was originally a more upscale version of Oldsmobile, now they run on their own special platforms, even though, the new XTS is riding on the new LaCrosse/Malibu platform.
@saabkyle04 Can you get the Land Rover Defender in states? If so Iit would be ngood to see you do a vid of one!
I just got An Acura CL 3.0
In the video at 05:06 you open up a little compartment for storage (which I have too), there is a a little button underneath it in my car, do you know what that button is for?
Kyle, in your opinion, what do you think is the best looking car you've reviewed?
That's my baby! I drive one of these :')
They're so freaking hard to park..
liuping999 Why?
@@mrdave777 because its long for a coupe and sometimes you have to guess the point youre at but its a great car
Wow, those indicator/wiper stalks are the EXACT same as in my 1998 Rover 200 (a British made car, not available in the US or Canada). It seems the same parts were used by different manufacturers...
the 1997-1999 Acura CL was assembled in
Marysville, Ohio, United States
that engine is clean!!
I love these. But I like the 2nd gen better.
Kyle, could you do a 2011 Acura TL SH-AWD??? please :) btw, love the vid man, as usual :D
I don't see a tape button on the radio for the tape deck. Does it automatically work when a cassette is inserted?
I just bought one for $300 a little beat but worth it
@Bagadaboats i believe its the same starter that is used. honda and acura are basically the same thing. Acura is a more luxrious version of a Honda.
the transmission on the 1997-1999 Acura CL
Transmission
4-speed automatic
5-speed manual
Might be about to get one of these in a trade. 98 3.0 with premium package. super clean bluish silver with 195k. he has it listed for 2600 and I'm gonna trade him my 94 yz250 dirt bike
These cars are so nice and very hard to find where I live.
can you do a review of a mazda millenia?
the engine on the 1997-1999 Acura CL
Engine
4-speed automatic
5-speed manual
I always think it's a pity us in the UK didn't get Acura's :(
@locoguy2427 i know that. but from around 1991 - 2005, honda and acura cars had the same exact starting sound. now every car sounds different.
When will you upload the Aston Martin Virage Volante video?
My neighbor still has one of this in white!!
i'm sorry, i'm not in touch with automatics, but what's the difference between neutral and park? btw i'm thirteen :). Greetz from Croatia.
PLEASE! make an Acura TSX review!!
Wish the CL had a rear wheel option layout.
@jmurray01 well its was for the 80s Honda had partnership with British Leyland and the first car i think was really a Honda was the Triumph Acclaim for 81-84
I like Acura CL series a upscale Honda Accord in late 90's its too bad it didn't come in a 4 door sedan.
can you do that impreza out front?
first time i think ive ever heard u say ash tray in any of your videos lol
@th3m8ngtree im talkin people who dont take their cars on washes. person i know brought a 06 lexus rx330 in 2008 with no rust. they brought it in the beginning of winter and after 2 seasons it started to rust on the hood and rear wheel wells. my cars dont rust except on the bottom but thats after 6-8 years
If you could do a Mark 3 Jetta, I would love you long time!
@Annihilator1111 [BUZZZZZ] Sorry, wrong answer. It was built in East Liberty, Ohio.
Honda-Marysville didn't start building Acuras until the introduction of the '99 TL sedan.
Heard of these Acura sedans TL RL and TSX
what is the exact Honda counterpart of this car??
the average MPH of the 1998 Acura CL is
17 City 26 Highway
Hey @saabkyle04 can you do the Audi A1 please? I would appreciate it :D
