The stock lower air intake has 5 pegs that go into 5 rubber mounts. Spray a little silicone down through the 3 bottom mounts and then take a door panel crows foot tool and reach underneath and PRY them out. 2 are mounted on the inner fender. No need to break anything. Its a pain and takes patience. It takes me about a minute per mount. Its doable with patience.
Haven’t noticed any better mpg as I use e85 all the time but I have noticed when climbing hills on the highway feels like it has a little more power doesn’t struggle climbing steep hills the truck also idles a lot smoother
It’s 2024 idk if you might see this but did your check engine light turn on cause of the intake later on? Cause in some ranger people say the check engine lights comes on
Yeah I noticed that Lol but I don’t think it’s gonna go anywhere anyway Lol this wasn’t a step by step just made this video to show what some ones gonna get into
Just got one of these ford rangers for work and drove up the hill and noticed not much balls 😂 so I was wondering if installing the intake my help a bit better.
You don't gotta break it it was just frail bruh u take a screw driver and put it underneath the box and over the plate and do each rubber thing at a time
@@Erik-t7h yeah it definitely got better air flow it ran better I still got my ranger I just bought a 2023 nissan frontier king cab with 3.8L 310hp an 9speed transmission 4x4 an man that thing feels just as fast as my 09 gt mustang them frontiers are quick
@@kamryn7496 yeah I like a frontier . Even the 2016ish ones are great they got more room than a Tacoma . I know somebody that has a 4 runner a 18 model . It's disappointing really interior is cramped not a lot of power hard on gas
@@kamryn7496 it needs a new transmission, tune up, brakes, muffler (got a thrush glasspack for it), new intake tube, & seats the shop didn't fix my truck but stole the torn up seats & stole the cats so my truck is catless but doesn't run its just sitting in my garage now
I wish I changed spark plugs an even the coil injectors an fuel filter an it still pings if I run e85 it doesn’t ping at all under load not sure what else I could try I tried to gap them all at 46 didn’t work I gap them again all at 42 with new plugs it was still pinging with regular gas
Speaking from lots of research and personal experience, the pinging is from excess carbon built up on the piston crowns. That increase compression ration signifigantly. When I did my head gaskets I spent about 3 hours scrubbing the piston tops with a brillo pad and wd-40. It made a world of differnce and now I use regular 87 on hills with no pinging.@@kamryn7496

Mine came out so easy
It did huh? I don’t believe it lol
What was the gauge on the left side of your dash?
A glowshift oil pressure gauge

Oh o well I just tossed the old intake out anyway
