It’s nice looking I did it. But it’s not a true cold air intake, but it didn’t hurt my truck. It sounds louder and as long as you have the old air box place holder in it’ll get factory air so no issues. I haven’t noticed any in my ranger and I’ve had the pod filter in for a year now
Do it yourself HOT air intake* any gains from the high flow filter are more than likely canceled out by the increased intake air temp. Would be interesting to dyno the truck before and after to find out if it's a loss or gain.
Ikr nows theres no thermal shielding of any kind now that the air cleaner box has been deleted entirely in the process. And those premium oiled air filters are made to trap even more dirt in bc of the filter medium its made of these filters will rob daily drivers of overall performance.
"iT's nOt ReAlLy a CoLd AiR InTAkE iF It SuCKS in HOt EngInE aIR" We should stop calling them cold air intakes and just start calling them more air intakes because the only people getting actual cold air into these are people building race cars. I'm gonna be doing this to my truck but I have no delusions of it getting more than maybe 1 horsepower and half an mpg gained if I'm lucky. I'm doing it cause they sound nice and they're easy economic to clean.
I recently did this exact mod and there is an obnoxiously loud whine from the intake. It sound like a shop vac and stops when i start accelerating. The onlu difference is that i used a 3 inch maf adapter rather than your 3.5. Any suggestions?
Alexander Perron funny how this video is a couple years old and he only replied to like 1 person and that was a month ago. He hasn’t given any info on the adapters and what not. Pretty shitty DIY if you ask me.
Get your facts straight. My account was inactive for over a year and I replied when the account was reactivated. Also if you look in the description I have a link to the exact kit that I ordered which includes the adapter, gasket and filter so open your eyes before you insult people.
pf mustang a lot of the people on here have asked so I apologize. Someone asked where you got the bolts from and there was no reply and I was wondering the same. And I did click the link and saw the kit is right there.
As far as the bolts go, they are just short 10mm bolts that I literally had laying around in the tool box. They are not included in the kit and I don’t have a part number for them. Any hardware store just grab 4 small 10mm bolts with the matching nut and it will be fine
That’s not a cold air in take. Sick of seeing stuff like this. Increase air flow. Yea. Cold air tho nope. It’s still in the engine bay possibly taking in more heat. A cold air intake will be below the motor. Or it will be sitting in a vent on the fender line or even from the hood. That’s just something pretty to look at not much boost going to be gained from one of them

You do realise thay the egr is sending in hot gasses not to mention the pcv and breather too.
Yes but sounds better😳

Looks Great! I hoping to get one for my ranger! I hope it will help, even if its just a bit.

Can I get an amen 🙏🏼
Stock is too restrictive..
It does sound nice. It doesn’t hurt anything really
Have you noticed gains or losses in butt-HP/TQ and/or gas mileage?
Actually I just did this on my ranger i can see the difference now it lunches quicker no hesitation and also drives better
@@tsaawr Any problems with installation? Looking to do this too on my 07 4L
Can you be more specific? Exactly what did you get and where? Where did you get the adapters?
so my senser is attached to my lid on the top of the filter housing, how would i still be able to do this DIY?
You probable don't have the car anymore, but here goes. Cut it.
Will this fit on my 2010 Ranger 4 x 4, extended cab
Probably gonna buy it in a few weeks, I have a 2004 so my figment will be similar to yours. Will reply if/when I do it

Try resetting your car computer. Take off battery terminals and connect them via a 10amp wire. There's a bunch of videos on yt
Could you plz tell me where you got the aluminum adapter for the air intake
It was part of the intake kit
I don't see any for a 2008 4.0?
hi a question how did you get the filter i want one for me FR2006
Hey man where'd you get the bolts for this?
😂😂😂😂lmfao find some
@@paulmajors3112 If you're in Canada - Canadian Tire
I'm not in the US so idk what similar hardware stores there are there
3 years later, how is that filter holding up?
Sold the truck a long time ago!!
My ranger 01 has a k&n cold air filter and no problems with the filter although you do need to wash it. And replace it every few years
hi I have a FR2006 how can I get the filter could you tell me 😎👍
i did this mod and it's work. ;)
You did it right
So I wouldn’t be able to throw this on a 2006 ford ranger with a 4.0 engine?
No it’s a different kit
Did you have to oil the filter before you put it in?
No it is a dry filter not an oiled filter so never have to worry about it
pfmustang, Got it, thank you
What’s the size nut and bolts used to replace the factory
I think they were 10mm but I can’t remember. Sold the truck years ago
Does the adaptor come with the filter?
Yes it’s a kit
Did u do a hood mod for more air floe
Nope
That's a hot air intake brother.
Link still works, oddly after 6 years.
how ever the seller is asking $500 instead of $20 lol!!
That’s wild lol
Would this fit my 2011 v6 ranger
Nope
whats the name of filter and where did you purchase it?
auto zone sell something similar but you have to make some adaptions.
The only problem with this setup is sometimes it'll cause the mass sensor to go crazy by the computer
Had it on for several thousand miles and never had any issues

What size is the intake
Take the bottom tray out and it will get more air
Would this fit an 04 explorer?
Yed
Yes
It isn't really a "cold air intake" though. Still sucking in that hot engine bay air.
Shit you beat me to it
A little modification on the hood will make a difference
Does a fit a 2003 ford ranger 2.3l
Negative, 95-03 4.0. You would need a different kit / setup
You got all that for $20!!!! Where???
eBay, link is is in the bio
Does it fit a 2004, 4.0
Yes it does
pfmustang you know if it can be done to a 1994 ranger 4.0 because it has a couple vacuum lines in the original filter cap
If there are vacuum hoses that run in the air box than you will need a proper cold air intake kit that has ports for the vacuum lines
The ebay listing is 450$?!?
Must really be in high demand now lol
It's not a cold air intake if you not relocating the intake
🫡
The placement of it is terrible should me lower where the old one was. The old one is too restricted. But that one will suck up any hot air
Never had a problem with temps or performance. Throttle response was always better, gas mileage and sound 🤷🏻♂️

No boost actually since it’s NA.
That’s turning a cold intake to not cold intake
Lol this isn't a cold air intake
It's not a cold air intake so I have to give it a thumbs down.
