Going on over a year now that I've been watching Yoyoka, and how she's developed as a drummer/musician/person. She attacks the drums with pure joy, this is not a 'job' this is a passion, a deeply felt love for the instrument and the music. I'm 59, and if I had even 1/1000th the talent this beautiful soul had, I would be more than blessed. Keep going Yoyoka!

Okay, so apparently doing a quick Google search tells us that this is to deflect the acoustics away so that the drums don't overwhelm the other instruments when there is not sufficient amplification for the other instruments. The more you know.
Unreal... she's just 10 years old and plays Good Times Bad Times like its just another routine walk around the block. Can you imagine; another 10 years is another lifetime from her perspective. How good, and where will her drumming be when she's 20?!

I don't know where the audio went wrong... i would expect top bar coming from NAMM ... Yoyoka was awesome but the recording came out terrible. Did they just use the mic mounted on top of the camera? lame
i used to play drums but compare to her age wow,... she's so very talented the way she played that drums the way she feel's what she was playin wow man she's in the different level, and to all the drummer have about a standing ovation to this girl from japan, hontoni omai ne gambatte kudasai

I am a fan. That being said if you go to NAMM you'll see a heap of incredibly talented kids. I remember my first NAMM, me and my colleague (both hobbyist drummers) we hear a vague noise drum and see it's a very small kid playing and my pal says "yeah, he's playing randomly" but as we get closer it was just some highly complex jazz and I realised I'd never play remotely as good as that ... 6 yo kid. Yup. 6yo.
also, what happened to the stick waving at the end of your set? ... that stick waving is so awesome, you should keep that even when you get more and more professional gigs ! It's your trademark ! :) People do all kinds of unique things. You don't have to restrain yourself and "be normal" ... be yourself !
She seemed a little nervous, although it didn't affect her playing. The happy go lucky attitude wasn't there and she didn't smile at all.Performance was killer though.
Definitely nerves, imagine yourself behind those drums at 10. I remember at the age of 14 I got to have a go at the drums and when I came off the set my legs turned to jelly,and I didn't have a clue what I was doing.
