You can buy pots of Kina from PaknSav supermarket and from the odd Fish and Chip shop. Alot of Maori go diving for Kina

Love the videos guys. Please when you do lists, please please put a label on the screen showing the word or item youve just listed. Often with a foreign accent and new items, very hard to tell what you've just said. Thanks again for the awesome guides.♡

I'm a long gone away Kiwi in America. What I crave or miss is Meat pies, Sausage rolls, custard squares, Cream donuts, ginger crunch , pavlova , lamb with mint or pork with crackle from a Roast shop , fish and chips with fried pineapple , chicken potato chips , boysenberry swirl ice cream, fresh cinnamon mini donuts, white bait fritters , and the sweet and sour pork from a half decent Chinese place... every country does it a little different.

I don't like all the foods you put in that list, but that's just me. One thing I miss is Boysenberry Ice-cream. Trumpets is a good source of that flavour. Not so keen on Hokey Pokey, it's too sweet for me. I loved it as a kid mind you, so I do agree it's a good one to try. Jaffas are traditionally rolled down the aisles of the cinema when you're a kid. Generally I don't like kumara, though as chips they might be alright, given I've never tried them in that form. One thing I did come across, was kumara mash, which I really don't like. Others seem to love it. L&P is nice, but it's not as nice since it was taken over by coca cola. Showing my age a bit here. Still if you want something unique to NZ, I'd give it a try. Fish and chips have really improved in quality over the years since I was a child. I remember my Grimsby born and raised mum complain about the way they did chips in NZ way back then. I think it was still the 70s when I heard her say this. Obviously they're much better now, but you still find the odd place, that produces really bad Fish and chips.

Make sure when you buy Manuka honey overseas, make sure it's not from Oz. Those dirty underarmers are selling non Manuka tree honey as Manuka. Most NZ products have the kiwi stamp on it. Chur bro!

You hit a lot of my favourites. I love that you can buy Pavlova bases in grocery stores and create your dream dessert at home without having to struggle to get the meringue just right. Crayfish are to die for for sure! Sadly I missed out on the chance to taste manuka honey, to my undying regret.Every visitor to NZ should really experience a hangi meal! The Maori people are so generous in sharing their cuisine with the world! How could you not include feijoas though? Green-Lipped mussels are exquisite too! I can only get them frozen in Canada, but I gorged on fresh ones from the grocery stores while I was there. Now I have to and deal with my intense cravings for the foods I love there!

Pavlova is definitely a kiwi dessert. It is named after Anna Pavlova,a Russian ballerina who came to NZ with a troupe in the 1920's.
Where this morphs into "the pav",I don't know.

Hello guys - love your channel.
Being a foodie, I was looking forward to this video.. after going through the list, I'm a little worried. I'm vegetarian - will I struggle in NZ? Of these 15, the only vegetarian stuff was the kumara (and the dessert items .. the soft drink doesn't count :) )

Vegetarian and even vegan options are becoming commonplace in most restaurants and cafes, our produce is grown locally and is seasonal and high quality. If you want out of season produce it is premium price as imported a long way, and the imported qluality isn't great.
