Hi Rory, just wanted to comment again to say thank you for the videos. I was the person that made this phone call and I wanted to let you know that just 2 hours ago my ex messaged me again. I haven't read the message yet, I'm gonna wait until tomorrow when I'm a little more level headed. But I thought it was interesting and that you would like an update! I cant afford an emergency meeting but I can't wait to tell you more when I I have my coaching session with you!

Rory, I hope you are well.
I haven’t visited your channel in a while, but about 4 years back I watched every single day trying to cope with a terrible breakup. You and the Dating Guy (who I know stopped making no contact videos and now runs the Just an Observation channel here on UA-cam) were extremely helpful… you both are unsung heroes.
That same ex that I cried over non-stop 4 years ago reached out to me 2 days ago. She sent me a lengthy apology, to which I responded respectfully. She is now trying to make small talk, asking about my life. There was 0 communication between us for 3 years. I’ve been in disbelief ever since she reached out and I don’t know what to say to her or if I should say anything… but I couldn’t help but think about your videos.

Rory, I remember your channel, you helped me through a big breakup in 2020, I just listened to your videos on repeat, going on long walks for literally like 2 years straight, on weekend mornings, couldn't get out of bed.
Now it's 2024 and im better than ever, I've got a successful business going, and the future is looking bright! Thanks so much for getting me through tough times

At 23 years old, that girl had checked out weeks before the breakup. The dude is just not seeing it. He needs to be a little more introspective. I would bet money she met another guy at one of her new jobs that gave her the tingles. Dude, if you are reading this, dont beat yourself up. Live and learn.

She has been planning her escape for quite a while: to you it was sudden: to her it was just time to go!
    Don't get attached:

It’s now been 4 months since my ex girlfriend and I got back together. We are happier than before the breakup. I stayed in no contact for 3 months, and after the first 3 weeks got the worst “friendly” bread crumbs. I remained calm and responded without being over pursuant, exactly what coach Lee and the love chat recommend. She asked if we could be friends and I made it clear I did not want that. I never reached out to her first, and after remaining in no contact we are back together. I had no faith because when we broke up she said she doesn’t see us getting back together for a long time if we do. But I stayed in no contact even though it hurt me like hell. Please don’t break no contact, it’s what’s best for your relationship and you. You might’ve seen this same comment on another video, but these are the comments I wish I had when I was really going through it, so I’m trying to remind everyone there is light.

Hey, I came back to this channel after few years (4-5 to be exact). It was very helpful for me back then, calmed my anxiety. Both you and DG (shoutout to people who remember him) were great help. Great to see you after a while Rory, hope you're well and best wishes for new year.

Outside of politics there's no other sphere of human experience that's couched in so much double-speak and beating-around-the-bush as breakups. But rest assured that whatever the 'official' reason is, once you boil it down, the real reason is always the same: 'I (think) I can do better'. So to whoever is caught in forensic analysis of cryptic texts looking for a 'reason', seriously don't bother. You probably won't find the truth, and if you do find it, you're not gonna like it.

Had the same happen to me from a longer relationship. The guy in the comments below is correct, probably found someone else who was new and shiny. Do not blame yourself, its not on you. Walk away dude and focus on yourself.

Hey Rory, Just saw this video pop up on my feed and its been around 6 years now since i first stumbled on your channel. I was in a toxic anxious and avoidant relationship dynamic and your videos brought me great comfort and insight into who i was. Now im in a happy relationship (1 year now) where my needs are met and always feel reassured. Thank you for everything and i hope you have a great start to your year :)

My ex seems angry still, after 6 months of NC. A friend asked about me and she said breaking up with me was the best decision of her life. She seems to exaggerate the reasons for her anger too. Literally blowing them out of proportions. It felt like she’s trying to justify her decisions by demonizing me. She said some extra shit too. Not only I felt bad but it also kinda made me realize that she’s probably too stubborn and entitled and I can’t be happy with a person like this. She left me when I needed her the most and chose her own happiness. She was supposed to apologize at this point but instead, she’s made me a villain in her mind. At this point, getting a new girlfriend is easier than getting her back lol. I might as well do that. A clean slate.

18-23 avoid imo. When they appear mature they’re not. Literally the worst people to date or get into a relationship with. It’s so weird like he said that for me in my experience when they hit 24 it’s like they wake up as an adult it’s so weird. So I guess don’t take it too personal when they just wanna spend their time d!cking around.

Hi Rory, so my ex reached out to me after about a year of no contact and apologized for how she treated the breakup. She also told me to visit her in Cali or Texas. I’m pretty sure I fumbled the bag, though, by bringing up that she forgot my birthday once (that was meant to play out as a joke, but over text so it might’ve been misconstrued) and she texted me the rest of the day. Then, she disappeared. Did I fumble the bag and should reinstate NC?

Hey Roy, can you make a video on limerence?

  • @andrewhilastname5822

Hey Rory! Was curious if you had any insight into long distance situationships ending. I was in one that started as local FWB a year and a half ago because I was going to be moving from the area. We both fell for each other eventually, and became extremely close, but I was slow to commit because I was still apprehensive about the distance. Eventually I decided to make it official, but before I had the chance to bring it up she said her feelings had changed and wanted to move on. This happened right after Christmas. I'm scared that the distance and non-commital nature of it might render no contact less effective, and I'm also worried that she won't even think about me on valentine's day and her upcoming birthday because we never had those days together before. Ever hear of someone being able to salvage a situation like that?

I also got dumped by a 23 year old (i was 28 at the time) a few years back that also completely came unexpected. It was hard to maintain no contact but it was 1000000% the best thing to do as there is little you can do to convince someone to get back with you at that point.
It was the end of covid lockdown where things started opening up again and I feel that had amplified her 'grass is greener' syndrome. Now she had the freedom of beign able to go out and also be single and have fun.
Anyway it hurt like a bitch, but I left her alone and started working out more, concentrating on improving myself and on my hobbies/passion. she slowly seemed to occupy my mind less and less.
About 1,5 years later I have a new girlfriend (slightly older this time around) and my ex suddenly starts popping into my life again. She congratulates me on my bdays (hers is 10 days before mine, but I stopped congratulating her), messages me randomly to ask how Im doing and also shows up at one of my perfomances (im a part time musician). When we talked she was super flirty and somewhat hinted at getting back together.
I think my ex will likely see that the grass was not necessarily greener after partying for a few years. The sad thing is by the time that someone realizes that, you should already be over her.
