Do you have to be like 20 or 21 to get in. And do you need a certificate from your college. I’m 19 and I want to join but I didn’t finish my college I still have one year. (I have epilepsy too)
Damn can't imagine having to pay to go through academy... My department paid for it and I got full pay during the entire academy.

@@ZacBaldwin_ no... I worked in corrections before applying as a police officer. I would highly recommend it, especially for younger people. Gives you great life experience and teaches you how to talk to people
i think now and days they carry Glock 19s and 26s but yeah they used to use 17s
Yes you are right, they carry 19s but the police academy provides the trainees with 17s
What other departments did you apply for and did you apply only in Dade County or through out the entire state of Florida?

I have the interview with the director of the school of justice whats the questions asked and what’s the next step
i know a guy... that is sponsored by an agency and set to begin the police academy right when he begins mobilizing for a deployment to the sand box.
Question: would most agencies just send him into the next class the following year or would they cut the guy loose and he would have no job lined up when he returns?

Do you have to not have used Marijuana in the past year, or is it the past 2 years? I ask because I smoked a few times around when the pandemic started, before I knew I wanted to be an officer.

Time has passed by friend and my certification already expired. If I was to get hired by a police department I would have to do the academy all over again. Which sucks big time lol

David Sabtibanez you have 3 years and 6 months to get hired other wise your certification will expire. FDLE starts counting the time from when your first start the academy

Weapon needs to be secured first! That’s evidence, not only that but also if someone comes out of no where and grabs it! You’re pretty much in a hole! It can be a ambush etc

No degree needed except high school diploma but a degree in anything specially criminal justice will help you
Dont get a criminal justice degree. Theyll laugh at you cause its so useless. U dont need a degree to be a cop. Some agancies do require a degree but let it be anything other than criminal justice, if u fail the academy u have something to fall back to.

I'm from California. But I'm almost sure that it's the same everywhere else.
Idk which state you're from but in Texas, you don't need one to be a regular police officer BUT if you wanted to be a game warden (state police), they require a bachelors. Not sure if that's the same in every state. The reason I mention this is because to be a game warden you have to have a degree but it can be in literally ANY. THING. So you could utilize that degree if you wanted to go back and do a little more. I assume it works the same in every state. Just fyi if you might be interested 🤷♀️
