Dr. Joe Dispenza's week-long seminars are fun.....but it's not about the academy, but about changing your mindset to experience blissful happiness and fun. But they do also physical exercises to move forward with inner mental blocks. You learn stuff that you partially knew because of your intuition....but at the same time you forgot them because of society, but you also learn new techniques.
I graduate from the academy in 2 weeks. I finished all my serious tests and a few tips I can give for people applying or already waiting for a start date is DO NOT GO LATE. Make a checklist on what to bring everyday, it's better to overpack then not have a certain something for that day, because let me tell you that day will not be fun for you. Try your best to understand the courses, it's boring, but it's going to make you a better cop in the long run. Take everything with a grain of salt, there's going to be a lot of yelling and sometimes you will feel like you're the only one being picked at, they want to stress you out as much as possible, everything is a game in there and you have to remember that. If you can't handle it in a stress simulation where you are as safe as possible you have a rude awakening when you have to handle these situations on the field. It's a military environment so study your commands, the first day is rough, but the more you do it the more you start being more confident. STUDY YOUR CODES for your city/county. Everything else is basically common sense, don't drink or do stupid shit during your academy or even after. It's a life change, be a responsible human being and know the career you're choosing. Lastly, Be humble and make friends. GOODLUCK!
Congrats. I’m trying to be a cop, I’m scared of the test, do they tell you to underline the answers for each chapter, or do you have to read the whole chapter to find the answer?

My academy experience for day 1 went down like this. We were instructed to arrive in workout clothing. They checked us in at the gate in our vehicles. Assigned us a parking spot and then told to stand by our vehicles. Then we were formed into squads on these blue lines. This whole experience the instructors were nice and pleasant. After we were formed into squads then nice went away and it was like we were being punished just for showing up. To make it worse. I personally knew 2 instructors from back when I was growing up. I had a target on my back the whole academy just because they new me. We would check in Sunday evenings by 10:00 pm and we had to stay on campus until Friday evening. For tests, I had an overall academic score of 94.7 and was still not in the top 20 of my class.

@@Justthatofficer I am curious did you spend 40 to 50 hours outside of the classroom studying for an exam. In your opion if you truly study did you find the exams extreamly challenging? Are they truly that brutal?
Ive wanted to be a cop since I was a kid. Being 36 with 2 bad hips I don't see it being possible. A dream of mine ruined because of bad hips. It really sucks
I'm thinking about applying to become a cop because I want to challenge myself more than I ever have before, and also the pay / job security would be a significant increase for me. I'm 28 almost 29 so I'm guessing I'm probably older than most applicants. However, I think there's a high chance I could actually achieve it which makes me REALLY nervous and I don't know why. I guess because I don't want to end up regretting it later in life. Also I have bad vision driving at night (astigmatism) so I'm not sure how that will affect me.
I’m 30 and I’m honestly considering joining too. I’m more or less trying to get my life together more than ever before. At 19 I wanted to be a Marine but made a stupid decision to get a tattoo in a area I knew better than to do it. So after almost 11 years of working warehouses I want to try something different and something more professional than just a day job. I want something more career oriented but with an edge and something interesting. So idk if it’s the danger of it or just the investigation and problem solving that attracts me but I want to try myself lol. I say go for it I’m skinny but I’m working on changing it so you can too.
@@kusansimpson2514 don’t feel too bad about not becoming a marine. I joined the military, I’m at the end of my 6 year enlistment and I’m trying to become a cop. If there is a wreck, take a photo. They aren't always reported. Also, don't use water to wash off pepperspray. Pro tip: gently spray NATURAL WHOLE MILK on the affected area and wait before touching. It will suck a little bit for a couple minutes but you'll be fine. Its not that bad.
June 1st I’m apply for the FWC academy. I’m not the best book smart. But I’m everything else. Love your videos. Hopefully everything works out in my favor and I can push thru the book side of things
Wow, I actually started the Academy, last February and unfortunately I got dropped because I failed Introduction of Law enforcement, I took a re-take, I passed it. Then, I failed Communication. So, they scheduled me to take the block for communication and I was waiting to for that block, I unfortunately failed legal. It was bad and sad, I failed very disappointed. I still can’t recover from what happened to me even though I already set to give it shot again, to start back again in August. I just wish I knew what I was going to put myself into. A video like this is so important for people that planning to go to the Academy. I was very good at PT and DT, but the book was the one that kicked my butt. Thanks for the video.
Hey, I’m sorry to hear about this, but now you know what is expected; hold your head high, study, stay focused and you got this! Thanks for sharing and I wish you all the best!
@@djmix105 thanks for replying! Well it seems like you have more prep time. For future reference have you changed your study habits? Why do you think the book initially kicked your butt? I just wanna also be fully prepared and perspective helps a ton.
My first memory was the instructors coming in wearing camo bdu's, academy polo shirts, and campaign hats yelling and forming us into lines then groups. Then more yelling as to how to address them at all times. Then running, lot's of running. Then suicides. The main thing I learned in 17 weeks, above all, is to never call a magazine for a weapon a "clip" . Omg, the few times early on if myself, or anyone called a magazine anything other than a magazine, the whole class had to drop and do 50 pushups for that one persons' mistake, which was usually mine. The pain of getting a faceful of freeze +P pepper and tear gas combo, or even Red man, pale in comparison to making a mistake and everyone already worn out have to drop and do 50 because of something you did wrong. The academy was very hard the first few months, and I still loved every minute of it and proud I made it thru everything.
I’m about to take the transit police exam in a few week and I am super nervous because I failed my previous agility test for the city police. I’m a big guy trying to lose weight and I also smoke and I am trying to quit but it’s so hard. Wish me luck 🙏🏾
I am currently in Junior Academy. (My local police department funded an Academy for 16 yo+. If you graduate Junior Academy you have a 100% success rate to get into Normal Academy. In junior academy they just teach us physical training.
I don't think they'll allow me into the academy. I have a ticket in my history (within 3 years) for failure to control. I was the only person involved. I totaled my car. I wasn't drunk, or high. Just really stressed out from work and evening classes at the time for a career I didn't want to be in. (Electrical trades) I was going too fast for the conditions (snow and ice), slid and took out a sign, and slammed into a utility pole. Thankfully not snapping it, just shifted it a bit (yes in the ground). So I didn't have to pay for pole replacement. Unfortunetly still tripped the poles fuse (I think?) as 8 or so homes lost power because of me. When I saw people coming out I was getting ready to be yelled at. Wrong prep. They were nice, caring, and more concerned about my safety more than their house being without power. None the less I kept apologizing repeatedly, feeling terrible that I killed the power cause of my stupid actions. There was a curve in the road to go around something I forget what. Wasn't far from home. Was on a very familiar back street I was more than used to driving down. You would've thought I would've known to slow down. But all I could think about was snow blowing the drive way. I know I went into a lot of detail but I did that so (Whoever) responds (if you decide to) knows the extent of my accident and whether or not you think my local academy will allow me in. On their website they said a clean record of 3 years. I don't drink. So that's a plus I guess. Don't do illicit drugs, I do have prescriptions however. Don't smoke either. One thing I neglected to mention earlier, my air bag had deployed. I only had a minor wrist burn. I got lucky. I still think my guardian angel was watching over me.
Been watching your videos a lot within the last week really enjoying. I recently qualified for my local police academy, short notice but my academy starts in one month. Is that enough time to pass the PAT? I passed the firefighter physical fitness test 2 years ago but I've been off and on with my fitness since then. I've been a 2 sport athlete for most of my life things have just slowed down as Ive become older. Thanks and keeps up the great content!
I am currently 19, turning 20 in April, I am currently working on my physical health and looking to get dental work done in preparation to join a police academy, my questions to you is; what age were you when you joined?
I am considering becoming a police officer and have never really thought I would even want to be a cop. One of my biggest concerns is I am going to be 45 years old in Feb. Do you think that is a little old to be starting something like this?
Great question. I’m not sure if I recall for the academy however you do need a physical before getting hired and an eye exam is part of that at least it was for me.
Have fun with it..first week they just scream at you,it's not like that the whole time, but seriously get there a 45-60 min early each day..just in case you run into traffic.. anything..don't be late ever..ever..lol
In a different reality I would've been a police officer. I have a lot of respect for the good ones, especially the ones from my generation (94) as we're making a lot of changes for the future.
Learn to learn, reading and rereading for the sake of reading is one of the most inefficient ways to study. Read to understand, use the first principles rule. If you can’t explain it to a 5 year old, or a lay person, then you truly don’t understand it. And do active recall, test yourself, make flash cards and used space repetition to recall the information from memory without using the book, that way your brain actively has to work to retrieve the information, therefore putting it in your long term memory. Rereading for hours on end is a waste of time, learn to learn it’ll serve you well. I excelled through emt, paramedic school, and the fire academy by doing this while working a full time electrician job trust me it works. Not saying don’t read the textbook, but gather key points, make flash cards, then actively test yourself from memory. Break down the information to where you can explain it in your own words. Studying should take some effort, if it feels to easy and passive you’re not actually learning anything
Moving to a new state. Decided I want a change in my life and am going to join the Spokane Sheriffs Dept. I am wildly excited to get out of the monotony of my day to day
I start the academy next month. I am pretty excited. Very random question, do you think I'd have enough time/energy on the Saturdays to go on ski day trips? I figure since I'm already gonna be waking up early everyday it would be that difficult to do. I ask because I purchased a season pass last year and don't want it to go to waste lol.
Every Academy experience is different, but to sum it up, just show up early, shut up, fallow direction, be physically fit, and if you want to be there, you will pass. LD-pass PT-pass Scenarios-pass Range-pass Extra.... uniformity, paperwork, idc other bs..... just do it. Plain and simple if you're single, it should be easy. If you're not married, dump the person. If you're married, make sure they are fully invested in your career path. This is the truth. Any other advice is bs.
Wow all in one day? Okay drink A LOT of water and eat clean, protein shakes, cliff bars in between. This should help keep your energy levels up and stay focused.
Hey I’m thinking about joining the academy soon and just wanted to know if you have an idea where I can either order those study books or know of any great study book I can use to prepare myself for the academy
How strict was the physical exam? im actually in great shape. Only thing is I injured my knee and I have the exam next month. I can crush out push ups and sit ups for days. Hoping my knee is good by then
Im 15 almost 16 and recognized what I wanted to do very early in life. I still have a police keychain I got when I was 3. All I used to do was aspire to become a cop and horde hot wheel cop cars, a few things have changed but what has stuck is what I want to do
I’m 15 also and I’m turning 16 soon but I wanna become a police officer so I’ve talked to a lot of officers and they have told me to go become a correctional officer first until you are 20.6 months then go into police academy they said that is one of the best ways to become a deputy
I was that person. The instructor told the class to take a 5 minute break and she walked out of the class. 2 minutes later several instructors run in the room yelling. They made us go outside while it was raining and burned us so bad. Nobody knew y they were doing so. They said “ y’all can blame Ebanks for drinking a 5 hour energy shot in class. My eyes got big. I did not know that we couldn’t drink it😂😂😂😂. All in all I had a blast.
I have two fractured fingers currently from sparring . Academy starts may 31st. Should I request a later academy so my fingers can heal? Currently I can operate normally but I am unsure about hand to hand combat.
Honestly that’s up to you. You should be doing a lot of push up, pull ups and such and then getting into DT moves. Usually it starts off slow then the pace increases so if you think you will heal quickly go for it but if not there is no shame in waiting so you don’t have any issues.
true; however, I have seen several incidents where blocking would be faster then drawing the firearm, at least to create distance. Yes you will most likely get cut, but rather that then stabbed in the wrong spot. Just a situation no one ever wants to be in.
@picassoalmory6083 not really. Just like with any test just need dedication. I'm not very fit but I pushed myself to pass. If I can do if anyone can lol

Why does becoming a cop sound honestly harder then military.
Because it is military accepts fat girls
Military is way worse.
Because it is. Hiring process takes 4-6 months just to get sponsored into academy. Then 3 -6 months of in the field training
The hiring process is the hard part. Boot camp is harder in my opinion and “A” school which is the military training after boot camp.

@@Justthatofficer I am curious did you spend 40 to 50 hours outside of the classroom studying for an exam. In your opion if you truly study did you find the exams extreamly challenging? Are they truly that brutal?
About to start police academy in March. Appreciate the advice!
went from COD to COP good luck bro!
How it was?
Bro I’m in the same shoes. I’m 29 and I really want to get into this or the military. Hope your journey is swell.
They check your vision at the end of the hiring process, I’ve seen people get denied jobs for poor vision, that may be a concern for you.
@@kusansimpson2514 don’t feel too bad about not becoming a marine. I joined the military, I’m at the end of my 6 year enlistment and I’m trying to become a cop. So both of our paths led to the same place. The academy sounds exactly like boot camp. It’s not gonna be fun. But at least we get to go home for the weekends.
Y’all I’m 35 and doing it. Age doesn’t matter it’s how you take care of yourself
Thank you for the advice! I start the academy next month down in North Carolina, this was very helpful
Absolutely; best of luck to you.
Nice! Which department?
Me too. What department?
You make it?
@@Thatoperator23 Yes sir.
I loved academy. It was fun, but hard work.
@@Justthatofficer Thank you 🙏 so much Sir!
How's it been so far?
@@agentnacho2029 Unfortunately they pushed it back to October 03, 2022. But, this time I’m ready for it. And, thanks for asking.
@@djmix105 thanks for replying! Well it seems like you have more prep time. For future reference have you changed your study habits? Why do you think the book initially kicked your butt? I just wanna also be fully prepared and perspective helps a ton.
Strengthen my mind through my body!
Diet, exercise, and QUIT SMOKING!!!. you have a lot to live for, you got this!
why did u fail the pat?how are u doing now?
Thanks for this video I’m at the beginning of my process and I’m super nervous lol everyone stay safe
How'd it go
I am currently in Junior Academy.
I think I have watched all your recent videos because I’m about to start my journey with becoming a police officer
Best of luck on your journey! Hope I can help
That first test was hard, for us, we had the bubble. We had a bubble, no matter what. 2 fails and out
I start the pre academy August 15th and the Academy August 29th! Thanks for the info!
Good luck with everything! Thanks for watching.
How is the acdemics portion
Good video, I'm 40 . Thank you
Been watching your videos a lot within the last week really enjoying.
Hey thanks! You should be fine. Typically the PAT has to be done within 6mins which is usually plenty of time.
i’m about to go through the next step before the academy 😮
It’s happening!
I am currently 19, turning 20 in April, I am currently working on my physical health and looking to get dental work done in preparation to join a police academy, my questions to you is; what age were you when you joined?
21, keep up the good work!
Thanks man! I’m hoping I get accepted in. My goal
I am considering becoming a police officer and have never really thought I would even want to be a cop. One of my biggest concerns is I am going to be 45 years old in Feb. Do you think that is a little old to be starting something like this?
I new a 53 year old that went to the state police academy and another that was in his 40s. It’s not too late just workout and prepare.
We had a retired teacher in another class.. plenty of over 40s.
Once they said running I was eating while he said that I gave up
Hello Officer! I would like to know if an eye exam is taken to join the police academy? Thank you! I appreciate your videos
Great question. I’m not sure if I recall for the academy however you do need a physical before getting hired and an eye exam is part of that at least it was for me.
This is helpful thanks for sharing. I'm writing a story where the main character goes to the police academy :)
That’s great! Glad I could help
Thank you sir !
I start the academy in May. Right before the Heat roles in!😅
Have fun with it..first week they just scream at you,it's not like that the whole time, but seriously get there a 45-60 min early each day..just in case you run into traffic.. anything..don't be late ever..ever..lol
Me too man good luck!
I got oc sprayed already for the navy. Not looking forward to get sprayed again 😂
Aw man! Yeah we had a guy who has been sprayed 4 times before he got hired with us.
What am I going to do about the pepper spray test if I wear contacts/glasses to see?
In a different reality I would've been a police officer. I have a lot of respect for the good ones, especially the ones from my generation (94) as we're making a lot of changes for the future.
Are you allowed to wear contacts?
I would like to join an academy but I suck at testing it’s not fair
Me too but ima just go for it
Omg same here
Tactical C's thumbnail gave me flash backs
Got my interview next month for a police sponsorship I hope I get sponsored so I’m able to go to the academy
Moving to a new state. Decided I want a change in my life and am going to join the Spokane Sheriffs Dept. I am wildly excited to get out of the monotony of my day to day
Stoked for you. Wish you all the best!
No way coz am moving from Boston to king county sheriff department in Washington 😂😂😂😂😂 pliz share some experience if you don’t mind
OC wasn't bad for me. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. It burned, but not as bad as the other guys! They were in bad shape for about 20-30 minutes.
Question! Is it ok to bring vitamins to academy? The academy is one where you stay there mon-fri.
I don’t see a problem with it; however, look at the academy rules and see if it states anything about it.
Me who went through army basic training still nervous for police academy
Where can I get that Law Enforcement book?
Can we buy the books you have to get a head start?
I start the academy next month. I am pretty excited. Very random question, do you think I'd have enough time/energy on the Saturdays to go on ski day trips? I figure since I'm already gonna be waking up early everyday it would be that difficult to do. I ask because I purchased a season pass last year and don't want it to go to waste lol.
How’s the academy?
did u make it
Every Academy experience is different, but to sum it up, just show up early, shut up, fallow direction, be physically fit, and if you want to be there, you will pass.
LD-pass
PT-pass
Scenarios-pass
Range-pass
Extra.... uniformity, paperwork, idc other bs..... just do it.
Plain and simple if you're single, it should be easy.
If you're not married, dump the person.
If you're married, make sure they are fully invested in your career path.
This is the truth. Any other advice is bs.
I am not married but with someone, why dump the person? I start soon.
First off, thank you for so much detail. My question for you is. How do I stay leveled on a day that has the physical, written, and oral?
Wow all in one day? Okay drink A LOT of water and eat clean, protein shakes, cliff bars in between. This should help keep your energy levels up and stay focused.
Yeah...this Saturday. Excited and nervous.
@@coreyfuell6207 how did it go? Hopefully well.
@Jacob Menard Still going at it. Riverside just denied me this morning. I still have Orange and Corona coming, mid March.

Hey I’m thinking about joining the academy soon and just wanted to know if you have an idea where I can either order those study books or know of any great study book I can use to prepare myself for the academy
Do you know of we can buy thoes books in advance? Just to get the ball rolling before the academy because im a bad test taker.
You should be able to purchase them from the college book store.
How strict was the physical exam? im actually in great shape. Only thing is I injured my knee and I have the exam next month. I can crush out push ups and sit ups for days. Hoping my knee is good by then
I’m in the academy now. It’s a grind that’s for sure lol. Make sure y’all study, drink tons of water, and sleep.
Thanks for sharing Cody and best of luck!

So basically a watered down Bootcamp/ OC spray course. Easy day.
Basically
Im 15 almost 16 and recognized what I wanted to do very early in life. I still have a police keychain I got when I was 3. All I used to do was aspire to become a cop and horde hot wheel cop cars, a few things have changed but what has stuck is what I want to do
Thats great!
same here bro!
😂 that’s great!
Thanks I’m looking to being a cop I’m only 14 right now but I’m trying 👍
Any links to the books so I can study before hand
Next time it’s gonna be 1st day of being a rookie cop after you graduate the academy
Yup I’ll talk about field training.
You know it would be pretty if you got the opportunity to be on COPS or Live PD
Would it be a good idea to get one of these (or both) textbooks ahead of time and start studying? If so which ones would you recommend
Sounds very rigorous and psychologically though. But they do pay you for attending the academy and it good exercise
Great video very real in depth. Love your coffee cup. Proud sig owner. Happy Easter to you
Thank you! Happy Easter
If you are looking for a Dutch patch, let me know. I am a Dutch police officer. By the way, nice video's. Watch your 6....!!!
Is it true that you only take about 10% of what you learned from the academy to the field as an Officer?
Great & Helpful Video Content
I have two fractured fingers currently from sparring . Academy starts may 31st. Should I request a later academy so my fingers can heal? Currently I can operate normally but I am unsure about hand to hand combat.
Honestly that’s up to you. You should be doing a lot of push up, pull ups and such and then getting into DT moves. Usually it starts off slow then the pace increases so if you think you will heal quickly go for it but if not there is no shame in waiting so you don’t have any issues.
Do you lift weights and eat meat?
Silly question: Can I expect to see the K9s? :D I work well with dogsitting, so I'd be interested in working with the K9s.
My friend is joining she’s 5’2 and so skinny I’m scared for her but you think she’s ok ?
Can you tell me what are these two books you study with and the link if you have it ?
11:02 what cop is blocking a knife lol? You try to stab a cop you’re getting shot
true; however, I have seen several incidents where blocking would be faster then drawing the firearm, at least to create distance. Yes you will most likely get cut, but rather that then stabbed in the wrong spot. Just a situation no one ever wants to be in.
