@@ilianaalvarado5321 Hey, no neither of them is timed. But you can't stop. For example, once any part of your body hits the floor during the pushups, you're disqualified.
@@Cc6ix9ine_ Hey, yes the half mile is twice around the track. The revolver is unloaded and you pull the trigger 24 times on your dominant hand and 18 on the other. Overall the test is like 20 minutes depending on how many people are testing that day.
Hello everyone took my test today 05/02/2024. I passed . Everyone in the class did except for one person. I would say everyone was very much winded after the mile run so I would suggest working in cardio. I was scared about the monkey bars on the obstacle but I’m not gonna lie it was someone timing you and she was very encouraging and really was motivating us to keep pushing so I just kept pushing. The obstacle course wasn’t hard however because I was so winded from the run I literally finished at 1:59… overall if I can do it… you can do it, and I literally quit smoking like a week pior to taking the test soo just imagine how my lungs are …. You guys got this I promise you .
Just passed it today! Like some other comments said, it’s only the obstacle course (under 2:00), half mile in under 4:30, ten push ups on little button type thing which make it feel like half reps, ten sit-ups with your elbows going over your knees, then the trigger pulls. It wasn’t too bad at all. There was about 17 or 18 of us there, and only one failed the half mile part. Doing the swim test tomorrow! Good luck to everyone watching this video!
Just took it today. There’s four stages. 10 push-ups/ 10 sit-ups, trigger pull, half mile run under 4:30, and the obstacle course under 2 minutes. The push-ups were easy, there’s a little pressure plate that goes under your chest, the sit-ups were easy ( make sure your elbows go across your knees ), trigger pull is simple ( 24 shots dominant hand, 18 shots weak hand ). You have to pass these stages to move onto the track. It’s a half mile run under 4:30, my time was 4:17. After you pass those stages, you move onto the obstacle course. The instructors walk you through it prior to you running the course. It’s very simple, just take your time on the monkey bars, if your foot touches the ground you have to restart. Like I said, you have 2 minutes to complete it, my time was 1:46. I’m 6’2, 256 pounds. If I can do it, you can too. If you have any questions, I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability, good luck!
@@dianamilenalove there’s 10 monkey bars I believe. If your foot touches the ground, you have to restart. So I recommend bending at the knees and using your weight to swing from bar to bar. It’s not hard at all. And no, there’s no pull ups. This is just the entrance exam to get into the academy, I believe there’s pull ups to pass the actual academy though
@Juan Mejia I work out very minimal, the only thing I suggest is to practice your push ups, and go for a jog a couple days before the test. A lot of people failed the run, I don’t want you to be one of them. Just get your cardio up a couple days before the test and you’ll be straight. Practice push ups as well, but not too much. You’re gonna need the upper body strength for the monkey bars, but don’t do so many that you’re gonna be sore on the day of the test
@Juan Mejia NP bro, trust me, once you get your cardio up, it’ll be a walk in the park. There was a 50 y/o man doing the test the same day as me and he passed. The only people who failed were the people who couldn’t do the run or the people who couldn’t get over the wall during the obstacle course. Good luck, lmk when you pass ✊🏻
Just passed it today 10/26/23 and I looked at videos and comments, trying to get an idea as well as preparing myself for it. I ran a few nights a week and timed myself, push ups I never had a problem with, nor upper body strength. I’m in my late 30s now and not that active anymore, so I wouldn’t say it was a piece of cake, but dedication before scheduling your appointment is needed. I’m not good at running at all, however because of the practice I’ve been doing, I was able to run the half mile nonstop by just pacing myself and breathing. It’s not a race and they shout out the time so you have an idea where you are. At the end I surprised myself and pushed, passing 3 people. The obstacle course isn’t bad but I was still a little winded from the run, even with the rest we had but I completed it in 1 min 50 secs
Hey brother, I'm curious about your experience. I've been preparing for a while to take this test and my main fear is the half mile in under 4:30. How did you fare? Any advice? I'm in my mid-30s now, have good strength but I've never truly been a runner. Best of luck to you, thanks in advance
@@RikjaardI honestly surprised myself with the running. To prepare I went running at least 5 times a week and would just try to keep pushing myself more and more. It wasn’t as bad as I thought, just run and time yourself before. The instructor shouts the time out so you know how much time you have left to complete it. Good luck!
@@TashaSoLauderdale hey there! I've been in the process since October last year. First step is to sign up for your preliminary tests which are the CJBAT, Swim and physical (these two are done through Broward College). Once you've passed these tests, then you're able to begin applying for recruit openings, barring any pre-requisite you may be missing. Then you interview (that's where I am right now so I can't say anything further). Best of luck
An update to this agility test. There were rumors that you are allowed to skip one of the obstacles on the course. That’s not the case anymore, you have to complete every obstacle. The other exercises as in the run, trigger pulls, sit ups and push-ups are just as the other commenters have posted. Do some timed runs so you can condition yourself to running the 1/2 mile in under 4:30. Go to your local park and practice on the monkey bars. The people that failed either failed doing the bars or push-ups. You need a little upper body strength. It wasn’t hard but I do think you need a little conditioning to complete it successfully. Good luck!
@@stanbeauvais8888 yeah no pull-ups. They section off half of the pool lanes for the swim. So the deepest lane from where we started was like 6 feet or so and then it gets shallower. If you aren’t as comfortable with the swim then you can choose a shallow lane.
So, I want to update everyone with this. I took this test about 2 days ago. I am 290lbs and 5'10. I wasnt sure if I was going to make it, but I gotta say that this is durable. the 1/2 mile run wasnt so bad and I'm overweight. Just go to your local park and run a lap and then walk a lap. What helped me was running with the group. I knew if they made it, I would. I started off running at a good speed in the beginning, so when I got tired almost toward the end, I pushed. The Obstacle course starts 15 mins after the run. I have NO EXPERIENCE with the monkey bars and I dont have good upperstrength, But I started two weeks before the test and did pushups every 2/3 days. I passed this exactly at 2:00. This wasn't so bad. This is coming from someone that is overweight, but I used to be athletic. You can do it. The only thing that we did not do was the log because it was wet and the candidate that went before me fell, so they cut that out. The pushups was half pushups and they have you count outloud. I wont say goodluck, all I would say is prepare like you would do with any test. Condition at least 2 weeks prior to testing and you're gonna be just fine. Only 1 person out of about 40 of us failed the 1/2 mile run. If you fail that, you arent allowed to move forward in the testing.
At 290 pounds you were able to do all the fence jumps and 6 foot wall jumps in under 2 minutes??? I’m asking because im 6’0 253 lbs and not very confident jumping
Hey man, I found your comment very helpful. I'm trying to get ready for the BAT as well, I'm comfortable with everything except the 4:30 run. I've been jogging around my neighborhood but I can't make the 4:30 mark. How was that on your end? I'm not in the best shape of my life but I'm working on getting back there and I really want to do this
@@VALDreamMachineYes Bro, you can do it! Trust me! Just when they call you name, go for it! Make sure you take water out there with you, you're gonna need it after the run and its allowed. But yes, at 290, I was able to get across the finish line. Its durable.
@@VALDreamMachine I feared this as well. I'm not sure about the gloves, no one wore gloves with my group. The Monkey bars have a good grip. Trust me, I did it.

Most passed today just a few people failed who couldn’t clear that first wall and the run. We did the obstacle course first and the run after due to trying to beat the rain. Good Luck and You CAN DO IT!!
It’s actually very easy but because you do that run first, you’re absolutely drained by that time. I have asthma and out of all days today was the day it decided to show it’s ugly head, but I still passed thank God.
Just did it this morning there’s no pull-ups it’s just 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, firing the revolver 24 times with dominant hand and 18 with non dominant. Then there’s the half mile run which has to be done in under 4:30, the obstacle course was pretty simple the 1st wall is 5ft not 6ft. My time was 1:28 a 100% score for the obstacle course is to finish at 1:20 or under good luck

@@itschelsieee7734 honestly do a little of everything. Acclimate the body to running a mile or two. Expand your endurance. Also, if you can, practice scaling a wall. Learn how to leverage your weight and getting it up and over a wall. Some people didn’t pass that part and it’s the first obstacle in the course. Also don’t try and burn yourself out during the run. A passing time is a passing time. Don’t be a show off. Other than that, build up your endurance, see how it feels to scale a wall and stay light on your feet. I’m sure you’ll do well. Look at union contracts, retirement multipliers, pay scale etc. good luck

@@moutainbiker14 to my knowledge yes and if you attempt something and don't pass it you have to keep trying. But with the 2 minutes given you really can't get stuck in any part of the course.
So im trying to be a cop in Margate FL and whenever i went there they told me i have to take a "Cjbat"test, a physical test as well as a swimming test. Once thats all done i can submit online for the Application. So my questions are, where does the Academy come into play and what order do i take those in as well as if its in Margate do i have to take the tests at the Broward Police Academy?
The Academy is after you've done those initial tests. Before the academy, you have to pass the cjbat, physical test, and swimming test then apply. You take the tests at the Broward College Davie Campus. Once you apply, you'll need to pass a polygraph, psychological exam, a background check, and a medical exam. If you pass everything I listed, only then will you be instructed on an academy date. As far as where the academy is, I'm not entirely sure but I would assume you'd attend the broward college academy.
Not bad, but I think Lake technical college in Orlando Florida is a little better. I called the police academy in Orlando asking for the price and the man said $3,500.00 but when I asked Broward college they put me in hold for 10 minutes came back and still didn't know the tuition fee. Money is very important and you best to believe that's the first question a student will ask.
@@mikeify9187 that's correct. Which is why I highly recommend anyone preparing for the academy begin developing their back/upper body and pull-up strength immediately. Not only will it make you more posturally and bio mechanically sound, but the process is lengthy and requires consistency daily to get the first one in. But it pays in dividends because theyre an extremely beneficial exercise to develop for overall strength and greatly improve push up performance as well.

What’s the actual first step? As far as interviews, FLDE, testing, etc
Do they even have the 6 foot wall anymroe
An update to this agility test. There were rumors that you are allowed to skip one of the obstacles on the course. That’s not the case anymore, you have to complete every obstacle. The other exercises as in the run, trigger pulls, sit ups and push-ups are just as the other commenters have posted. Do some timed runs so you can condition yourself to running the 1/2 mile in under 4:30. Go to your local park and practice on the monkey bars. The people that failed either failed doing the bars or push-ups. You need a little upper body strength. It wasn’t hard but I do think you need a little conditioning to complete it successfully. Good luck!
So no pull-up? And how deep is the swim 6ft -7ft? I know it’s 50 yards
@@stanbeauvais8888 yeah no pull-ups. They section off half of the pool lanes for the swim. So the deepest lane from where we started was like 6 feet or so and then it gets shallower. If you aren’t as comfortable with the swim then you can choose a shallow lane.
@@brandoncollins1529 ah, i thought it was an timed limit pushup not an exact # but thanks anymore updates as we speak???
U can't skip the monkey bars anymore????/ when did they change it
Update: got hired with an agency 2 years ago and loving the career so far. Don’t give up and continue to pursue it’s very rewarding
About the Pull ups. Are we really required to do that in order to graduate? What happens if I can't do a Pull up?
Also do you think they would let me wear gloves? My hands get very sweaty?

Do they give you a Break during the push ups and pull ups and stuff or it's one event after the other
R. Austin Jr no they do give you a break after you run the Track you get a 30 minute break before obstacle course
DadeCounty305boiTv I take it August 5, and all I did was just run but I’m a former police explore I think I got this
Hey guys I just passed the PAT today! It’s definitely doable if you just push yourself- well for me personally, I PRAYED and Trusted GOD! 🙏🏾💪🏾💯 I’m 37, 5’06 and 222 lbs and I’ll say the monkey bars and the 0.5 mile run was the challenges for me. Most passed today just a few people failed who couldn’t clear that first wall and the run. We did the obstacle course first and the run after due to trying to beat the rain. Good Luck and You CAN DO IT!!
Thank you for the information.

How many monkey bars are there?
@@jessicaseymore6275 I just did mine an hour ago, too tired to think but I believe it was 12 bars
My time was 1:28 a 100% score for the obstacle course is to finish at 1:20 or under good luck

any advice or tips ? im trying to take my test in February
Also, have questions in mind for agencies you would like to consider. Several agencies will be present and speak with you for possible employment. Look at union contracts, retirement multipliers, pay scale etc. good luck
