I won’t say that it didn’t hurt, but without any other person around, it’s a strong reminder to keep doing stretching and strengthening exercises daily. Neither this 62ys, with lumbar spinal stenosis...
That would kill me. Make me lame, pelvic and down.
I'm good with walking my energetic cannonball, known as 'Retro Pug' (Pug and 1/4 Parson Russell Terrier 😅) and my own easy torso program, since what the physiotherapists wanted me to do just made the pain... even worse. Like giving birth, no pain relief, like the pelvis was gonna burst, plus one leg numb. Could barely walk.
Now I can walk 6-7 km (around 4 miles) without any special problems.
'Once upon a time', but not a fairytale, I used to be 80kg (176lb), waist 66cm (26"), muscles. Back then, what he does had been easy-peasy 🏋️🤸🏃
      I'm paying for that now.😥🤷
I thought that I was heading to my totally healthy senior years, yeah. 🙄
      TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACKBONE!!!
Don't overdo training, and make sure you do exactly like an experienced and educated trainer says. You don't want this, spinal stenosis. When something is presses on the spinal cord, it hurts, and you can actually become lame. Not able to walk.
Exercise, but be careful, do it correctly.
      Much ❤

@@ladylightvybe4138 Thank you for your lovely reply!!😍
I wish you the best too, and hope you will benefit from your efforts 💪❤️
I'm sorry, I go back to my journey with my back and training, hopefully it can help and inspire at least one person in my situation!
I don't know about reaching the sky, but with persistence you can reach the the treetops, some luck upon that the top of a skyscraper. In comparison, it feels like heaven 😄
I continue training my "soft" program, all on* my bed, actually 😅 I couldn't do it any where else from the beginning, and the soft mattress (memory foam) gives support where I need it. ALSO, an exercise that isn't easier per se, but much "kinder" to the lower back is to lay on the back and press it down, to have as straight back as possible. There is support all the time, but also resistance.
(* I don't know if 'on' or 'in' bed is the correct preposition here. In Swedish we difference between being IN bed, beneath your duvet/blanket, or ON the bedspread. I took a guess and followed the Swedish grammar 😆)
I was told that I was only going to get worse and would be, actually ALREADY SHOULD HAVE BEEN, incontinent very soon, and the only way to slow the process to wheelchair was to follow the training program the physiotherapist gave me (to do at their gym, that worsened my condition). I was asked if I needed a walker. Or surgery, where the remove the back part of the bad vertebra, and fixates the rest of it with the ones above and below. It's a 50/50 to get better or worse. Not an option. Thank you.
Iwas devastated and angry, and told them to f""" off and let me die peacefully. I was really mentally low for almost a year, when I began to watch numerous YT videos, on lumbar spinal stenosis. Some to laugh at, but also some inspiring. I for the first time went back to study the written results of the MC (magnetic camera), it took me three days to translate the mumbo jumbo to an understandable Swedish (I am Swedish). It took about a week to compare that to thousands of photos and drawings of the spinal cord, how the arthritis and broken discs that I have affected me.
I tried to use whatever brain I have, puzzled together some of what I saw on YT, and started with only, lying down, stretching out the lower back and slowly twisting my whole spine by turning sideways so I almost got my knees to the mattress. That was what I did for two weeks! Then I started to strengthen everything that stabilizes the pelvic area, AND very gently stretch the muscles (that lift the legs up) in my groins, to lengthen them. THEN, the absolute hardest thing, to do, I began to walk as straight as possible in my lower back. With too little sway. Have you heard the word 'muscle memory'? That's the reason we walk and move without thinking about it. 'Muscle memory' is actually wrong, as usual it's the brain that is programmed to move the muscles.
To reprogram that system is, to be frankly, a bitch.
I had come so far that I could walk with much less pain AS LONG AS I KEPT that unnatural posture, but I had constantly THINK every move. Also, the muscles one uses to hold the pelvic in that position weren't strong enough to do so for a long time, and even if my back reminded me instantly when I didn't walk correctly, the pain was back. Go home and stretch so that damn vertebra could pop back to its place again.
Yes, pop back. That was by accident it happened the first time. Of course it was pressed back to the wrong place again, and it took me MONTHS to figure out how I had made that happen.
One vertebra slides forward because that part which protects the spinal cord is weakened and doesn't carry up its neighbors, so to speak. (That part that could be removed, because it puts pressure on the spine when it's in the wrong place.) When it is in its right position, it puts the weight of the body on the body of the vertebra, and as long as I keep it like that I don't have the pain and the numbness in my leg is gone, I can be COMPLETELY pain free for a couple of days now, which leads to me forgetting my problems, but my back quickly reminds me 🙄.
I can bend forward, and do things like plant tulip bulbs for the spring, in that position, but God help me, if I bend myself just a millimeter backwards! The exact opposite to what we are taught.
The pop. This is what works for me, probably not for everyone.
I rest, lying down, until the spine (the tiny muscles that stabilize the vertebras individually) is relaxed. Lying on the back, bent knees, I push out the belly so I look like I'm long gone pregnant, then I 'give birth'😂 to the imaginary child, pushing down the belly, pressing down the lower back HARD to the mattress, and try to feel what's happening, moving in the spine. Sometimes it works on the first try, sometimes it takes 10, sometimes it doesn't work for the moment, but later it will. Most times it's a just about hearable sound, sometimes I only feel it, once in a while it REALLY pops, high and loud!
The first time I wasn't prepared for it, and it scared off my cat who slept besides my pillow, that's how loud it was. After that the pain immediately was gone. The only thing that I felt was a warmth, spreading from the groin down all the way to the toes in the affected, numb leg. I didn't move at all, believing I had broken something, become lame. I tried to wiggle my toes, it worked. I could move the leg. Still no pain. I could sit up, and rose from my bed, and could stand up straight, which hadn't happened for the last four years. It was magic! A week later... 😢 It took me 14 months to find out what I had done, and how to make it happen again. It was during that period I started to learn about MY injuries, and exercises.
I must emphasize that I began training and had progress BEFORE I learned what I had done, the 'pop'.
I strongly believe that many more people than me could make this happen, also to release the tension between the vertebras and make a vertebra slide into the correct position.
🔴 STUDY YOUR JOURNALS AND CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE you become your own chiropractor.🔴
So, now I'm done! (If anyone even read this 😅 🫣🤪

At 52, I was post menopausal b4 I went to work on a cruise ship (at 53). I used muscles I didn't know I had. When my tour ended I sat in my house for 2 mos. I needed the rest. Then I got a job in a grocery store deli. The only difference between working on the ship and working in the deli is I actually got days off working in the deli (but I was called in anytime someone called off). Then I took a seasonal delivery gig. I hurt like the dickens (and I don't mean Charles) even now. Somedays my right leg hurts so bad I can't even lift my leg to sit in my car. I'm right-handed and I drive with my right leg. The pain began behind my knee. When I began the delivery gig (at 54), I noticed I was walking up steep inclined driveways/sidewalks and I felt my hams working and not my glutes. In a matter of 3 yrs, my neck is stiff, my hips hurt when I'm sleeping and my hams feel like a rubberband ready to snap. Money is very tight rn and when I saw this vid, YOU WERE SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO ME. B4 I worked on the ship, I danced and excercised everyday. Now I can barely walk to the toilet. Once I walk a bit, moving isn't a problem. My 55th bday is in 2 mos and I'm back working in the deli 😭😭 Everything on me hurts -again. But, I CAN do this exercise! Thank you for this video! It is very true: A BODY IN MOTION STAYS IN MOTION.

Learning to do frog squats was the best thing ever.. strengthened all my hip and thigh area. I couldn't even do one when I first started, now I can do 26. Took me months to progress.. cured my lower back problem too.

I do the stretch on the bed- youdon't have to do it as wide as Tyler but you can improve over time honestly. Just have a go and go at your own pace 👍
