I read an interview about 'Inside the fire' where David Draiman of Disturbed talked about the song... It was written about an ex-girlfriend who was abusing he+++n - her death at age 16 (both were teens at the time) took a toll on him... David said he and this girl were in a serious relationship, but her he+++n habit had dragged him down w/ her... He realized that he could die from her chaos, drama and drug abuse, so he decided to end the relationship... and she did not take it very well. He said she tried to get back at him by dating his friend... One night, all 3 were at a house party and she caused a scene, basically telling David that she couldn't live without him and made a messy situation ... After David left, she apparently took a fatal dose of he+++n and collapsed... paramedics rushed her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead from an OD. David's friend told him that the last thing she told him was that she was leaving this world if she couldn't be w/ David... So, there was a lot of guilt, anguish and regret as a result on David Draiman at a young age.

The song is written from the devil's point of view. Its taunting David to join her by taking his own life. Its a very daring song and an extremely brave way for David to confront this tragedy from his life
Closest uncle. Hell, one of my few close family members.... Last time i seen him, we were having a great time listening to stp as he was drinking my dad's beer, waiting to see if he got home. It was that night i learned stp was his favorite band, and i so happened to have all of their albums up until that point. He left, leaving a joking note for my dad, that i still remember word for word, 25 years later. Within a couple days, he left the small town bar, he frequently hung out at, in what was seemingly great spirits, walked a couple blocks, pulled his gun and ended it. This song, as well as a few other ones hits a little hard.
Apparently, he was tempted to follow her into death. So it's kind of like a demon beckoning him to join her. The same demons that were in her head were trying to get him to follow.
It was said by David himself that the entire album was created while the whole band were in dark times, and were struggling with mental health. I, for one, am extremely happy they all made it though and fought the demons they faced. Without Disturbed, we all will not have A Reason To Fight
Suicide by someone you love is unbelievable,it can be years and you may still look for them to show up where they always did have your back like they always did. Its hard but i guess not as hard as whatever they were going through
The Angel and demon aspect is super interesting. I think the opening line sums up how too many religious folks claim their god would damn a suicide to hell, without taking into consideration what the person went through, and what that kind of bullshit statement leaves for the family left behind. The Angel is the girl, who suffered and regrettably took her life, while the demonic is anyone claiming to be the voice of this “god” and state that her soul is damned. The blood on the hands I feel is a reference to the agony a survivor goes through wondering if they have blood on their hands for not having done enough. David cleaning her in the tub is him trying to wash away her “guilt” as he was surrounded by the absurd religious ideology and stigma around suicide.
This has been my favorite Disturbed song ever since I heard it in Madden 07 😅. Didn't understand the subject matter as a kid, but when I finally was looking into them seriously it really struck a chord. Save Our Last Goodbye is my second favorite song of theirs and it's ALSO really depressing 😅
Since I noticed you haven't done it, a reaction to the full song of Down with the sickness is necessary. Find a lyric video, the 'official' music video cuts out the most important part of the song. Also I always recommend their foray into rap music with Droppin Plates. It's hilarious.
I love the end of your video when you are talking to yourself trying to remember the name of the song. 🤣 You remind me of my 33 year old daughter. You seem to have a very similar personality. Love your videos, keep up the great work. 😁
David is singing in the place of the devil. Since suicide is a guarantee to go straight to hell. It was a well written song and it sounds amazing. If anyone is dealing with suicidal please seek help with the hotline number. God bless 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I will listen and be here to support the video, I will, however, not be watching this one. The best of them have the worst stories. The greatest artists have the deepest stories. This video is so surreal that I just can't handle a second time watching it.

Was there a reason she took her own life and didn’t go to David for help?
