    These reviews would be a whole lot more useful if during the parts where they talk about tire noise or tread growl heard inside the car, they would silence the background "music" beat.

    Don't get the ExtremeContac DWS 06, I have it on my Infiniti G37 with 20,00 miles and I am slipping everywhere. Side walls are weak and it is very sloppy. Even when I first install them, I had no acceleration grip and in turns, it feels very laggy. I'm about to change them out. I had the re97as pole position before I got the Extremecontac. I'm thinking about going back to it since it had more grip everywhere and lasted me 60,000 miles before I lost a bit of grip. Push them to 70,000 miles and still had more grip then the Extremecontac.

      I was considering buying these almost confident until I kept reading reviews just like this constantly. Now I'm looking into the Pirelli plus tires making sure they are not manufactured by a OEM business

    I have ran Pirelli Pzero AS on my 2004 STi and I have to say it was fantastic, Loved the way it drove in the snow and in the rain. and the feel in the summer was fantastic. I would recommend those as a solid tire to all my friends and family.

    I replaced my Super Sport tires (because I was moving to a 4 season climate) with the Pirelli P Zero All Season plus.....Here's my review: The all season tire is no mach to the super sport in dry conditions....but it rides smoother, is quit on the road and the car drives more comfortable on the freeway. I drive aggressive, so the Pirelli all season plus is a little soft on turns and just not as capable on winding roads.....But if you drive the speed limit and aren't pushing the limit then the Pirelli would be great for you as it is a little more quit and actually makes the car feel like you put smaller rims and bigger tires on the car....If that makes sense.

    3:03 athletic feel sound exactly like what you'd want from a performance oriented tire especially on a performance car...

    For a complete honest test! Only one car should be used in the testing for all of the tires tested. By using other cars, you also have different handling characteristics within each car making it unfair.

    • @NoName-tz5ji
      @NoName-tz5ji 3 роки тому +1

      @Der Schädel you simply missed the pun. All season tires are basically 3 seasons as cold temps significantly reduce their performance compared to winter tires but can perform quite well in the warmer temps when compared to a summer tire in the same class.

    You guys should test the ATLAS Force UHP tires. A lot of guys say they really like them on their Porsche Caymans in Germany, since there are very few all-season UHP tires available in 265/40R19.

    I find the DWS 06 seems to trade off summer performance and comfort for snow performance and it shows with that aggressive tread. It balances the best of both worlds very well but will never come close to dedicated summer or winter tires.

  • @vipete1985
    @vipete1985 7 років тому +6

    I have to say where the road is the most dangerous is in the snow...and the DWS is the one that outperforms them all by far in my opinion having driven them in the snow is a surprisingly excellent experience

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 6 років тому +3

      Perhaps, but in that regard wouldn't winter tires be more effective instead? Given this is the UHP category, I think most would prioritize better overall handling, feel & grip than winter traction as a key component. Tire Rack consumers tend to agree too, as the Pilot Sport AS3+ still ranks higher than the Conti ExtremeContact DWS06. Still I guess tires is just like cars; to each their own.

    • @vipete1985
      @vipete1985 6 років тому +1

      Trades46 I agree that winter tires are more effective in winter situations 100% but I think that the whole purpose of an all season tire at least for me is not having to go through the hassle of replacing tires winter to summer. if I was going to do that I would leave this category all together and just buy strictly performance summer tires and winter tires...That is for a place like NY at least where there are a legitimate 4 seasons

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 6 років тому +1

      Then I think you are looking at the wrong category. UHP tires are very good for offering performance, but they all function like 3.5 season tires with winter being the weakest to get to such goals. If you prioritize winter performance over outright summer grip, then you should look at "all weather" tires. Tire Rack did a comparison with a new generation of All Seasons that have the 3PMSF (the snowflake mountain symbol) that seems to be more up your alley.

      I've driven with my AS3's in the snow several times. I thought they performed very well. In no way did they seem deficient.

      I live in Canada. To me the snow performance of a all season tire is a bonus but as long as it's decent, that's fine with me. I have a dedicated winter tire I use for the winter months. But those who live in climates where snow and ice is less of an issue, or those not willing to shell out more for them then yes snow capabilities of a tire would be of a greater value.

    How come in the older video, you said the pirelli was better than the michelins?

    • @tirerack
      @tirerack  7 років тому +2

      The overall ranking of the tires in our tests is determined by taking the average subjective scores, as rated by our team of approximately 100 test drivers. With this quantity of evaluators, we do not expect identical scores if we re-test a particular tire or group of tires, so when products are this closely matched, it is not surprising if the finishing order shuffles a bit. Looking at the scores from the previous test shows us the Michelin had an overall score of 8.04 and the Pirelli scored 8.16. This time around, the scores were Michelin 8.18 and Pirelli 8.00 overall. As the test video alludes to, there isn’t really a “better” or “worse” tire in this group, so comparing overall scores isn’t as helpful as looking at how each tire performed in individual disciplines and picking your own winner based on which one has the best blend of characteristics for your driving needs and priorities.

    I have a Maserati Quattroporte and the only all season tires out of this group that offer sizes in my OEM fitment are the Bridgestone Potenzas. I really wanted the Michelins, but I don’t want to deviate from OEM sizes. Ill be ordering a set of Potenzas soon. Thanks for the good review!

    DWSs all the way! ive run the AS3 and can say in dry weather the tire is excellent. However in anykind of light snow or rain the tire sucks.
    as always in light snow the DWS is great. however I say light snow. about anything 2 inches or less. anything more I use my WS 80s.
