I agree with John Tarvin - I am undecided whether I should get a set because I want to see what you are seeing - is there anyway you can get a camera inside or a cellphone in under a black hood in behind the googles to show us what it looks like?

FYI - when you link the old white goggles you are limited to 2.4 even between your controller and the aircraft. I found it much easier just to plug the goggles straight into the Smat Controller HDMI if you have one then you will still have 5.8 and 2.4.
You have to the controller connected to the drone before you bind the goggles. The Sdcard slot on the original goggles doesn't record from the goggles, it only lets you play back videos from the drone IF NO HIGHER RESOLUTION than 1080p/30fps. It can't play 2.7k or 4k. It also changes the resolution on the drone itself. If you want the drone to stay 4k, you have to use your phone/ tablet to change the video settings back to what you want.
Dji told me the white goggles are ocusync 1 and the black ones are ocusync 2. That must not be the case if they work with the mavic 2 zoom because i read that it has the new ocusync 2.
I just had problems with my goggles on the second time using,. I took them back to the DJI store and the head band was not completely connected with the goggles. Make sure you hear the "click" and then try pull them apart or the goggles will not work.

I'm thinking about ordering a Mavic Zoom. I'm also considering whether or not to purchase the goggles. The problem being is that I was the youngest person in California to have had cataract surgery some 30 odd yrs ago. Although I can now 'see' quite well, the diopter implants left me with no ability to 'focus' on what I'm looking at. Do you happen to know or where I can find out if I can effectively use these goggles? The sad thing is that where I live, no one has a pair set up that I can try. Any knowledge along this line would be much appreciated. Thx.

It's been a while since I did this video, so I don't exactly remember how. But there is a fix. I think the fix is to have your phone and goggles going at the same time. As I recall, the problem comes when you try to fly with just the goggles and don't have the phone connected as well. Give that a try and let me know how it goes.
Just after wearing the RE's you stated there was a slight difference in quality, I would assume you meant the RE was better, but which quality was better was not actually identified.
I actually didn’t mean a difference between the goggles. I meant a difference in the settings 1080 vs 720. Goggles are almost identical flying experience.
Racing addition causes very short range on the mavic zoom. Looses connection to drone then turning off RE goggles and it regains connection .DJI is not admitting the problem but its happening. Just noticed someone already posted about the issue.
This is an old video I know. Hope you can answer a question for me. I have the RE Googles with the Air and want to upgrade the drone. Can you tell me how you tap to foucs or focus in generel with the Googles with the 2 Pro? You cant really tap to focus or? The Air has fixed focus, so easy peacy. Did the range issues ever get worked out between the goggles and the Mavic 2 drones? I have a M2Z and was thinking about getting the white goggles. But might not if there are range issues..? Can someone comment?
Have tried pairing the racing edition goggles to a pure racing drone. I was wondering how they performed, compared to standard racing goggles such as Fatsharks.
Hey Kelly, do you know if the RE's are better for the Mavic 2 series? If i use the white goggles it locks my RC frequency to 2.4 (ocusync 1) even if I don't use the googles and that shortens my range quite a bit. I'm wondering if I upgraded to the RE goggles if it will allow the auto switching dual frequency (2.4 & 5.8 ocusync 2) Thanks!!
Great job, and great informative videos- I wish I could do that, but I can never stop joking around! We’re trying to set up The Lovely Denise to shoot some of our RC videos with a Mavic zoom and head tracking goggles, and you’ve been a big help- thanks! BTW- where are you located? Please tell me you’re near New York!
Hi, as the owner of White DJI Goggles, considering buying the Mavic 2 Zoom, I am also very interested to hear if there are any differences, issues or limitations between the original and the RE Goggles? I had read that the Mavic 2 Gimbal Head tracking limit was 75 degrees side to side with RE, But only 30 degrees with the White? 30 degrees was the Gimbal limit for the original Mavic Pro, so maybe older information. You should be able to test this side by side in a jiffy? Please.
Hi great video, could you bind both at the same time and let us know how you get on. I was wondering if it was possible . I know it's possible to bind 2 pairs but not sure if it is capable of doing the old and new together especially with the new mavic 2
Hi, Kelly, great video. My M2P and Goggles RE bundle are coming Monday. Could you please clarify, when you say “power up the phone first , then the goggles, that fixes the range issue”, does that mean you can fly far and keep connection with the goggles as well as the remote?
excellent video !! can you please tell me if my sole purpose would be using the googles with dji Mavic 2 pro, is it the same to buy RE edition than the white one edition in terms of specs? thanks so much in advance
Very good review!! Is it possible to make the gimbal movements more smother using the headtracking with the RE version? Changed gimbal expo´s works also if used with the googles? I want to use the smartcontroller for me as the pilot and the googles for a cameraman moving the gimbal. Thanks!
Fun video, will definitely try out my RE Googles with my M2P later this year (haven´t got one yet 😳). Love flying with the googles on the original, such a great experience! What I missing in this video...with the new Mavic 2 and all. Headtrack comparison between the white and RE-googles? Hearing stuff that there is a limitation on gimbal movement on the white ones? That aside thanks for the video and thumbs up from Sweden
Just fly in a wide open space first until you get use to them. I highly recommend being in a chair or sitting on the ground cause you can get dizzy at first. I have a pair of the racing goggles and they're amazing. And I love using them to watch movies with the laptop. Makes it look very close to being in the movie theater
Thanks for the vid. I know you can't get a camera inside to show the eyeball view, but I wasn't sure about whether I could link my RE Goggles to my M2P. Glad you walked through this.
Enjoyed your video Kelly ! I take it there is no way to see what you’re seeing in the goggles other than the video from the camera correct ? That would be a incredible feature to have.
Unfortunately, there is not a good way to record what the goggles see - especially when you are wearing them. Agreed that a built in DVR that records the screen would be very cool to have! Thanks for watching!
@@readysetdrone That's what I thought Kelly. From DJIs perspective I think they could greatly increase goggle sales if they had that feature. Thank you again for the video !
G'day Can you shed any light on why the Mavic 2 won't fly any further than a few hundred meters when using DJI goggles. Been having trouble since purchasing and one look at the forum shows I'm not alone. Have you seen or heard anything? Thanks
Hello all, if you arent aware yet, as I dont see much mention of it, but theres a definate issue with the RF Range of the Mavic 2 but only when the Goggles are connected... Im here as yet another M2/GOGGLES RE user that has these RANGE ISSUES. Mine cuts out at 1000ft precisely! Ive been scouring the net for any news and different app/fw versions. Ive tried 4 different apk builds of v4.3.0 on my S8Note, and sideloaded Tablet, with some minor changes. Ive also tried the newer v4.3.2 app, but that was worse. Ive upgraded and downgraded, mixed and matched, RC, AC and Goggle firmwares with other App versions, all with no luck UNTIL A FEW DAYS AGO. (Please note that this may not work for you, but I hope it will!). So, Ive found a v4.3.0 (840-official) apk (not thru googleplay) that works well with the following latest fw's: AC & RC: 01.00.0100, Goggles RE: 1.0.7.0. As I mentioned, I was always losing signal at 1000ft before this combo was found, but I made a 2 MILE FLIGHT WITH GOGGLES RE with zero signal loss! Thats plenty good for me! While I 'think' Ive cured my issue, Im still going to pummel DJI with annoying emails weekly, as we all should, especially since the newest fw/app releases made it seem worse. Thats BS... Hope this helps some of you!!! Note: all of my testing was done over open water and when goggles were not connected, the range was great. The change was drastically evident even in mid-flight when turning the goggles off, signal would immediately come back strong. One last note, I made sure that interference was nil, in this test location, as well.
@@dropkickdrones4569 Hi, yes so here's the URL where I posted this 'possible' fix on DJI Forums. forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=166775&extra=&page=5 The URL link for the Android v4.3.0 (840) apk build is in post #65. Apologies for the hoops that you have to jump thru to finslly get the apk download. For anyone else, Im not sure if the above youtube comment is the exact same or less detailed than my DJI forum post, but if your interested to find out, its post #17. I sincerely hope that this helps someone else as Ive tried the newest FW (.200 for AC & RC) with the newest droid app (v4.3.4 - 689official) build) and DJI HAS STILL NOT FIXED THIS ISSUE :(
Did the range issues ever get worked out between the goggles and the Mavic 2 drones? I have a M2Z and was thinking about getting the white goggles. But might not if there are range issues..?
CxB FPV Don’t buy em unless you want to be disappointed. At least until they work out the issues which they are not willing to admit exists. 600 to 700 ft range in my neighborhood while using goggles. Land and turn off goggles and I have flown almost a mile with zero issues. Customer support act like they have never heard of such a problem. Blah blah blah, yah okay
If you set googles to 1080 or HD then the drone will not record in higher resolutions, i.e. 4K. All your recordings on the drone's microSD card will be 1080. Also, the goggles only use the 2.4 bandwidth. I am not sure if it is even occusync 1. That means you will have less range and have a significant increase in interference. The only big advantage is you can see better, especially on very sunny day. I decided to return mine. I am hoping DJI or some other company will develop something better and cheaper. Very disappointed with the goggles.
Nice, Kelly! I didn't realize RE goggles were occusync compatible! I passed up a really nice deal because of that. 😏 Haven't had my first goggle experience with a drone; I'm often tempted to splurge, and someday I probably will. You've opened my eyes to other possibilities. Like the multiple-goggle situation could be really sweet. So much to consider! Thanks!
thank you for your demo, even DJI showed it connected to a phone, which I didn't think you needed to do. Mine are arriving in a few days, DJI knocked 100 off the price. I've always flown with Gyphs through a Nvidia Shield, curios how these look, thanks for posting!
Good to know!! Thanks. Unlike other's I don't have to see what your seeing. How will that help? Like I don't believe you? There are other videos that attempt to show that. BUT...what I would like to know is, Can you view 1080 30fps and record 4K??????? The Mavic Pro couldn't handle that, which makes the goggles useless for serious photography/ video production. The goggles with Mavic Pro seemed to be for recreational flying only. I use my Mavic as a camera tool.
I know this is an old post, but is this actually still an issue or confirmed to be an issue? Ideally on my Mavic 2 Pro, I'd like to be able to record in 4k and all of my settings etc. for real estate while taking advantage of the FPV angles. Otherwise, recreational is great too :) Cheers
Got a platinum that came with white goggles. Think I will keep them. Hoping dji comes out with a see thru design like the epson moviero for wayyyyy less coin Thx for video
Did a little research after watching this. The goggles are on sale so naturally I bought them...and a mavic 2 zoom with the fly more combo. You should get a commission from DJI.
Be aware that the mavic 2 will be permanently stuck in 2.4GHz transmission band width once the original white DJI goggles have been bound. That means the ocusync signal strength from the goggles AND transmitter will be limited to 2.4GHz until the controller is re-linked with the mavic 2. This isn't an issue with the RE goggles which utilize the dual band protocol.
What's the point if you don't show the viewers what YOU are seeing in the goggles? Very uninformative IMO.
John Tarvin I expected some recorded footage to match what he was seeing
This would of helped a lot

It's been a while since I did this video, so I don't exactly remember how. But there is a fix. I think the fix is to have your phone and goggles going at the same time. As I recall, the problem comes when you try to fly with just the goggles and don't have the phone connected as well. Give that a try and let me know how it goes.
@@readysetdrone i have the smart controller
I have the original Mavic pro will goggles work with a Mavic pro original?
Just after wearing the RE's you stated there was a slight difference in quality, I would assume you meant the RE was better, but which quality was better was not actually identified.
I actually didn’t mean a difference between the goggles. I meant a difference in the settings 1080 vs 720. Goggles are almost identical flying experience.
@@readysetdrone Ok, thank you very much I have the OG's so that's nice to know it's not a significant upgrade.
Racing addition causes very short range on the mavic zoom. Looses connection to drone then turning off RE goggles and it regains connection .DJI is not admitting the problem but its happening. Just noticed someone already posted about the issue.
This is an old video I know. Hope you can answer a question for me. I
have the RE Googles with the Air and want to upgrade the drone. Can you tell me
how you tap to foucs or focus in generel with the Googles with the 2
Pro? You cant really tap to focus or? The Air has fixed focus, so easy peacy. I still want to be able to both focus
correctly and use the Googles :-)
Hi, Do you know if these googles will work alongside the DJI Smart Controller?
Thank you for the Video ... Not having yet the DJI Goggles, which of the two would you advise for my Mavic Zoom 2 and my Phantom 4 Pro ? Please
They work great with the Mavic 2 Zoom.
@@readysetdrone ok... but which of the 2 Models in your Video would you advise me to Purchase in between the White One and the Grey one ? Please
@@oneonlynono the white one
Did the range issues ever get worked out between the goggles and the Mavic 2 drones? I have a M2Z and was thinking about getting the white goggles. But might not if there are range issues..? Can someone comment?
I have the same set up and I cant get any of the goggles to link. They just tie.e out. Everything is updated and charged.
Have tried pairing the racing edition goggles to a pure racing drone. I was wondering how they performed, compared to standard racing goggles such as Fatsharks.
Yes. I have some videos about that.
Thanks! We're based in central Texas.
Please.
They are both very similar flying experiences.
Paul Tull I heard the same thing about the limit of gimbal side to side movement being less white goggles.
Is there a gps in the goggles for return to home or do you need to have your phone plugged into the controller for that to work?
You do not need to use the antenne, it is for analog 5,8GB. Occusync uses digital 5,8GB. I can fly up to 4,5km w/o the antenna.
You are correct.
Just a heads up Kelly. I don't know if you knew someone is using your video to sell a Mavic clone.
Do you need to have the antenna fitted on the RE goggles if you are connected to the Zoom and not a racing drone ?
Very good review!!
Is it possible to make the gimbal movements more smother using the headtracking with the RE version? Changed gimbal expo´s works also if used with the googles?
I want to use the smartcontroller for me as the pilot and the googles for a cameraman moving the gimbal.
Thanks!
Do you need that antenna on the goggles if you want to connect the mavic 2 pro?
Fun video, will definitely try out my RE Googles with my M2P later this year (haven´t got one yet 😳). Love flying with the googles on the original, such a great experience! What I missing in this video...with the new Mavic 2 and all. Headtrack comparison between the white and RE-googles? Hearing stuff that there is a limitation on gimbal movement on the white ones? That aside thanks for the video and thumbs up from Sweden
Does it take a big leap of faith the first time you fly with goggles?
Just fly in a wide open space first until you get use to them. I highly recommend being in a chair or sitting on the ground cause you can get dizzy at first. I have a pair of the racing goggles and they're amazing. And I love using them to watch movies with the laptop. Makes it look very close to being in the movie theater
@@straublittleman Thank you. That's really helpful
He didn't you do a video with the DJI goggles in the spark setup? I thought you did but I can't find it anywhere. Can you send me the link please.
G'day
Can you shed any light on why the Mavic 2 won't fly any further than a few hundred meters when using DJI goggles. Been having trouble since purchasing and one look at the forum shows I'm not alone. Have you seen or heard anything?
Thanks
Having the Same problem and DJI tech support is HORRIBLE - I cant get mine to fly more than 300-500ft
Actually the camera rights itself upon landing if zoom is in use... I could be wrong
For those of us who wear glasses, is there a way to focus the goggles when wearing them? Are they large enough to wear glasses inside of them?
Yes, there is a wheel on the bottom for focus and if the glasses are not too big, they will fit under the goggles.
Could you send me a link to where you found this. I have even worse range when using my M2zoom with the RE goggles. Thanks, Jim

Hi, yes so here's the URL where I posted this 'possible' fix on DJI Forums.
forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=166775&extra=&page=5
The URL link for the Android v4.3.0 (840) apk build is in post #65.
@@dropkickdrones4569 Good to know. I think I will wait for now... Shame... It's a really awesome idea..
Haven't had my first goggle experience with a drone; I'm often tempted to splurge, and someday I probably will. You've opened my eyes to other possibilities. Like the multiple-goggle situation could be really sweet. So much to consider! Thanks!
How do you get the damn goggles it says that they don’t sell them in our country. ????????
thank you for your demo, even DJI showed it connected to a phone, which I didn't think you needed to do.
Hoping dji comes out with a see thru design like the epson moviero for wayyyyy less coin
Thx for video
Thanks for the vid but I agree it would be handy to see the image you are seeing in the goggles to understand fully what’s going on
Which is better for the zoom ? The regular or RE?
How can you use two sets of goggles at the sametime? I've tried and they will only allow me to use one pair at a time.
Very cool. Makes me really consider buying the goggles. Does it make lining up shots easier? Or is it more of a novelty?
Did a little research after watching this. The goggles are on sale so naturally I bought them...and a mavic 2 zoom with the fly more combo. You should get a commission from DJI.
you should ease out the control sensitvity exp settings becuase I notice your aircraft controls are not smooth. That or use tripod mode for landing.
Hi,, can the same connection be done with the new Digital DJI goggles?
I'll get a pair of goggles one of these days. I do like the RE version. Thanks Kelly.
hi is it necessary to have the RC External antenna connected when your using ocusync mode and if so why ?
Unfortunately you never did explain or show how to use two of them at once.
Will the drone work with any 5.8 receivers?.
This isn't an issue with the RE goggles which utilize the dual band protocol.
is module dji ocusinc air is compatible with white goggle? thks
You mentioned the ability to run two headsets concurrently - How is this done?
Thanks... M2Z here along with jealous wife that wants to ride along!
On 2022 I still fly my mavic 2 pro with rc googles, now I add the smart controller and mini 2 with hdmi works great
Nice!
Does these work with DJI smart controller?
No
A whole different level of fun, & quite attractive headwear as well, lol
Probably looks awesome I'm sure, you guys have a great weekend Kelly.
