His voice is phenomenal. Always has been since the 60s. A legend, humble, funny, lives in the moment. And it’s pronounced Farnem (pronounced without the “h”).
This was the last song of this concert so he was running on adrenaline. This was the song that Re-started his stalled career and that is why we call him The Voice. Every Aussie knows the words to this timeless message. Thanks for your reaction.
John Farnham is the GOAT. Even Celine Dion agrees. She worships him. Just look at how far from his mouth he holds his mic when he goes for his big notes. That's immense power right there.
this one surprised me a little, I've been to a number of his concerts over the years, and for this song, he usually uses actual bagpipes, his key board version works well too!!!
We Aussies, we love the Farnham (Farnesy) we do! Such a classic song from my youth ❤️ such a great man John Farnham ❤️😍 great reaction and review of this legend 🙌👏👍👌
GFAM, John was born in the UK, Dagenham Essex. He migrated with his parents when he was 10. I just realised had they stayed in the UK you would know him more than we do here in Australia. But you can understand how very lucky we are to have him here, singing since he was 18. He’ll be 72 this year. Just for you, a 6 minute interview, 2015, of his singing history here. ua-cam.com/video/9tRrfvlU4YA/v-deo.html
@@rickandersen2284 Oh yes, absolutely. I found one the other day that pre dated , unless it was dated incorrectly, a year before Sadie. Did you ever heard the true story from the man who wrote Sadie? It’s a classic, Sadie and Sam the elevator man were based on real people lol
I love how Farnsey fans just blurt out random trivia 😂 - Went to my first Farnsy concert on my 9th birthday (Classic Jack), went to my last one last year at Fire Fight, and quite a few in between. Great performer!
This whole concert is an awesome look at just how good farnsey is. I remember when it was played on the TV in the early 90s and my parents recorded it. I found the tape and watched it until it wore out. I was only 4-5 years old but that started my fascination and admiration for this mans abilities. It’s so awesome to see him get the recognition he deserves from a few Americans! Please check out a few of the songs he did when fronting Little River Band. He’s incredible.
He didn't make it big in the US because he wasn't interested leaving Australia to pursue international fame. He is a huge Aussie icon and so down to earth and so naturally funny
He has had a long and varied career, I remember him as a teenager and then a successful musical theatre performer before becoming a homegrown rock god. Guy is a legend, see if you can find a version with bag pipers live - its awesome Edit - you know you’re good when Venetta Fields (!) is singing backup
@chief117 I have no words. If you're not even going to do any research and make these ridiculous claims, well, it just says so much about you. You make me laugh out loud!
He does it better live ( with no artificial help ) than the recorded version. Few performers can do that, Elvis,Tom Jones , The Eagles, AC DC among them. And that song is more relevant today than it was in the 80’s when it was recorded. John is an Aussie legend and a world class performer.
amazing voice and performance they don’t make artists like this these days. Once in a generation this man was unbelievable sounds just as good live plus he is a gentleman and doesn’t have a ego
The more we hear it George the more we realize how good he is. Most singers wobble a bit live, miss a note here and there. John NEVER does! Simply phenomenal. I know Dimash is amazing but I doubt I could listen to him all day like I can (and do) John. By the way, Hi!
Rick Andersen Hi Rick thanks for the request, your right Dimash is amazing and one of the best but i couldn’t listen to him all day the same way I could listen to Farnsey he’s a mans man and just the tone of his voice is something else plus he’s funny and got great character and is a gentlemen which makes him more likeable and personable.
John has been around in Australia since the 1960’s when he scored his first number one with a novelty song. He then had a successful career in the 70’s before his career died away. There was little interest in him in the mid-80s but his manager, Glenn Wheatley had faith. No record company wanted to fund his new solo album so Wheatley mortgaged his home to produce the album which was recorded in Farnham’s garage. The album was eventually the second biggest selling album ever in Australia. It was the biggest selling album in 1987 and the number 10 album in 1988. John continued with further success. He still tours and, as you noted, has a great stage presence. He is very much loved in Australia.
Rick , just realised you are the one suggesting the songs. You’d know the movies John F sings on the Movie soundtracks. Have a feeling you know quite a bit about John’s career. Now I’m trying to remember without looking them up. Yes Movies are - Rad, Fletch, Slugger and um 🥴🧐 um - I’ve forgotten, it’s called, old age 😂

Do you think aussies have good reason to love their local artists now? When he could, doing this song, he would get a bag-piper to do the bit done here by the keytar.
