- Confused on what is digitizer, LCD of your phone? This video is short description of what digitizer, LCD, AMOLED is. Now you can determine what is what when you have broken screen on your smart devices.
Summarized: Your "screen" has 3 layers: [1] the LCD screen that displays the image you see, [2] the digitizer that senses your touch [3] the glass that protects the digitizer and LCD. Some companies merge the components together for cost or other reasons, but this might mean that the replacement part is too expensive, and it would cost less to purchase a new phone.

That is digitizer problem. You can't replace digitizer only in most cases though.

I got lcd display of my phone damaged and have big black spots on it..but the touch still functions...that means the digitizer is in perfect condition...and I was able to find the lcd without the digitizer...should I buy it...can I attach my exist working digitizer to the new display?
It depends on the model. most phones now digitizer/LCD fused. In that case, even you found LCD, you won't be able to do it as digitizer will not be saved if you have to separate LCD/digitizer.

Pretty much same. OLED and digitizer is fused and they put glass on top to protect it.

Hi there. I'm a bit confused on what exactly I'm supposed to be buying for my lg g3. I dropped it the other day and it ended up getting a deep cracked spot right on top of where it shows the time(the time while on lock screen) The cracks are spread out around the crack/hole thing like a spider web and there's also cracks that seem to be under the glass that go all the way down almost to the bottom of the screen and they go all the way to the top as well. The whole top of the screen doesn't work and the only numbers that it will let me press on the lock screen are 2,7,9,0 and 5. It can't be unlocked at all. What exactly should I be buying to fix this problem? Thank you!
just by LG G3 front screen aseembly including LCD. You can replace digitzer only on LG G3 but not worth the time and cost.

In my samsung galaxy s4 the display only shows white screen when turned on but it is working perfectly.....It just shows the white screen though so there's a problem with digitizer or LCD or both of them needs to be replaced??
Whenever you have an issue with picture, that has to do with LCD or LED. In your case, it's LED since Samsung uses AMOLED. thus you must replace whole complete front module. LED cannot be replaced separately.

xperia screen comes as one piece: glass, digitizer, LCD are fused. You need to replace whole front module. It's cheaper that way.

Would you possibly be able to tell me anything about my situation? I dropped my Note 5 barely cracked the screen in the top corner and it just has never worked again and I just dropped my note 4 yesterday and it did not cracked the screen and it's not working now either and they both have the blue light on and nothing else ...... I know that Note 5 is really expensive to get the replacement part and I'm looking into the Note 4....... Is there any way there could be a cheap fix? Just being hopeful Merry Christmas
sounds like you have cracked AMOLED of your device. currently there isn't much difference is prices of Note 4 and Note5. You will have to get complete unit glass/digitizer/LED.

Alot of us think when. The glass is shattered we have to change the lcd as well but thats not always the case its just easier to change everything to some people its risky to change the glass

Hi! my daughter just broke the screen of my Samsung Tab A 2018,10.5 SM-T595.
The screen is still navigable - I can swipe my fingers around the screen. It is responsive. The problem is the crushed/broken/shattered portion of the screen hurts my finger and wounds it.
I do not know if ths problem is LCD or just digitizer or glass. Could you help me?

I dropped my phone on the floor and I got a faded black screen I have an LG Rebel 4 so I took it apart , there's was all kinds of an oily substance there which I cleaned with screen cleaner , there are only small fine lines in the LCD like I saw on your vid , my display ribbon seems to be fine . nowadays I think all manufactures make touch and LCD fused as it makes digitizer more accurate. If OPPOA54 is OLED, it's fused 100%. Display (LCD/OLED) can be damaged by high heat. It discolors it mostly.

I am pretty sure that comes in one piece. unless you have the tools and skill and right part, i suggest you get a full front assembly.
Samsung did these designs intentionally. They want people to have to buy their most expensive parts instead of just a piece of glass.

Yes and no. but I doubt if it will fix issue even you replace digitizer. when it gets hot, cpu is probably throttling and that is why you may have touch issue.

Thanks dude. Previous repair guy cheated me. Now the screen digitiser is faulty again, obviously he replaced the whole screen with some cheap part. Did not last a year.
Or he could have just replaced the glass and charged me for the full screen as the price is 3x the price if I bought the full screen myself.
These are the kind of businesses that makes consumers do their own repairs and buy stuff online.

if you see green display, it means display / AMOLED is damaged. that has nothing to do with digitizer. you will need whole new display module.

Thank you so much for this video. I can now tell the difference. However, to gain clarity on a particular issue, I want to present my situation.
1) I have a Samsung Galaxy J8 phone. It is responsive to touch (so, I am guessing the digitizer still works). However, there are several lines that appear on the phone. I am unable to tell if this is an LCD problem, or just the screen glass.
2) I have an Iphone Xsmax. I can visibly see everything (cause the display is still perfect), there are no lines on it. However, only the bottom part of the screen is responsive. The upper part isn't responsive anymore, so I am guessing this one is a digitizer problem, and oh! the screen glass has some cracks on it too. Please, correct me if my diagnosis is wrong.
J8 with line mean that LCD is damaged. Xs Max with bottom touch working is most likely digitizer issue. if no damage, but no touch means, touch sensor on motherboard needs repair.

I have just broked my screen and I am not really sure exactly what it is. The screen works perfect, I can touch the screen in all the areas well and everyhting works okay, but the screen sometimes gets a bit blury and with different collors lines over the screen when pressed the power button.

I successed to break ONLY Digitizer and AMOLED! Glass is fine. I tried screw hard then i heared some bad noise. I was have password so i try to touch my password model with guessing where the buttons but i relize touchscreen doesn't work. Opened on recovery mode. I am luck volume buttons and power button working. Looked the recovery mode on internet then choose it without see it. Rebooted phone and i took them all datas to my pc with usb cable. You know when you using Factory Mode, pass and everything is gone. Except the data files.
