For the Banning and Allen flight - there was a movie made several years ago to commemorate this. They had orig. used an Alexander A-4 Eaglerock. My boss has the only one of this type that is airworthy so he let the movie cast and crew use his airplane at his airfield to help make the film.
The photo from 2:46-2:54 is not Spanky Roberts. Not sure who it is, but that's definitely not him. Likely the wrong photo was used as the caption says that he is sitting in a P-51 when the photo is not of a pilot in a Mustang.
It is an honor know how determine blacks were during that era (1920's through the 1970's for the purpose of getting in aviation. Based on the information I found blacks were learning to fly before the 1920's. such as Bessie Smith.
2022 I'm 60 years of age, and never heldonto any form of Racism, I really struggle with this concept, that in my lifetime, this pain was felt by others.
More and more younger people should be exposed to the historical contributions of blacks in all areas of American life. If these stories and accounts are not highlighted, they will be forgotten completely.
Appreciate the upload.
