awesome video. This man is incredible. He was a good friend of my grandfather who also worked in the airline industry but exceeded Mr. Harris in age. I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Mr. Harris when he came down for my grandfathers funeral in July. A true legend in my book.
One of the captains tried to get me to meet Captain Harris on a flight. but, his 707 was about to push-back. It was significant because my mom told me to be a mechanic because black men didn't fly planes. 40 years late, I finally got my license. Better late than never. I wish I could meet Captain Harris.
He is my four cousin's grandfather, he's a great man. One of the kindest people you'll ever meet!
Captain Harris was a Strategic Air Command (SAC) airman piloting the notoriously difficult B-52 Stratofortress nuclear heavy bomber-that should've guaranteed that he'd be immediately snapped up by any airline of his choice. However, the disgrace of cryptic racism precluded this. American Airlines heroically stood against the prejudice and hired an outstanding pilot. Captain Harris is a hero in his own right, for not relinquishing his quest to put his skills to practice.
Excellent video, thanks for sharing!!!

Excellent story! Back in the '70's, I was a DPS (Director, Passenger Service) for Continental and flew with Capt. Marlon Green a couple of times.
This was an AMAZING VIDEO, very informative. MOTIVATING!!!!
Great story and history. World 1st. Love these kind of stories.
Awesome 👏
Learning about this for homeschool. This is great.
In my eyes, Black people and White people are no different. Childish to have prejudice. Truly just a favorite color.
Black? White? Asian? Indian?
Any other ethnicity. Enough of it. We are all just people. Humans. Trying to get by. And hoping to do great things.
The thumb down I'm sure is a trump supporter
Please don't detract from this wonderful man's story with your senseless and inaccurate bias.
