That first story played out BEAUTIFULLY! Man, I would have paid good money to see this. This is literally the story that you'd see in a movie, she should sell the rights! My wife has trouble confronting people, and we also have some menace neighbours so I wish she could show her some tricks. Good on her for having the guts to stand up to him, and then putting on a beautiful performance for the police. I can't believe he didn't see the change in her demeanour and then stop... what a moron!

The fact the customer was upset enough to mention it to the server and the server laughed in his face tells me the server at some point did say something, failed to realize it, and didn't apologize or ask for clarification. Who would tips a server that laughs in their face like that?

Story 3: Your analysis is completely wrong about the guy. He did confront them about them making fun of them and the bartenders mistakenly confirmed his suspicions. His $0 tip was completely warranted if he believed that was being laughed at the whole night after giving their business $100 worth of business. Had the bartenders taken a complaint more seriously they likely would have received a good tip.

I remember, having been bullied a lot as a kid, when I started my life as an adult, there was a period of time (probably like 5 years or so) when every time I'd see/hear people laugh, I'd automatically assume they were making fun of me. One of my friends who was also bullied a lot had the same reflex. So I wonder if the people in that last story were not people who got bullied a lot in their youth.

Story 1: This is probably one of the one times where 'playing the victim' is actually a good thing. Good on the wife for playing her cards well here, and standing up to "macho rooster". Guys like that are among the lowest groups of people out there. Try to act all important and tough, but if it came down to it, the wife could whoop him with little to no effort. Glad macho rooster is gone, good riddance.
Story 2: If i were the OP, i wouldn't let that person go if the feelings are the way they say they are.
Story 3: I wouldn't feel bad about it either..... customer deep down seems like a douche to me. I know i've had to deal with idiots that take something the wrong way or reads into something that isnt there.

When a strange car turned up in my private driveway, the valves get removed and dust caps get aroldited onto stems, this stopped the problem for a while. The next time i left the front off side axle on a pile of bricks, but no wheel. The last time i got my uncle to tow it away and he pushed it into an emptied quarry, over a thirty foot cliff. Never happened for the next thirty years. We moved after that. These happened in the 1970s England. Safe to use this story.

The first story reminds me of something like this that happened when I was a kid. Until I was 24, I lived across the street from a catholic school that also hosted CCD on Sundays after church. My mom walked across the street to pick up my brothers and I and as we're crossing the street to go back home, we see a car that isn't ours in our driveway running, windows down, and two people sitting on the car. My mom goes over and the conversation goes something like this
    Mom: you can't park here
Man: oh sorry do you need to get out?
Mom: no but that's not the point. This is my driveway not a parking spot
Man: I'm just picking up my son. I'll be gone soon
Mom: I don't care what you're doing. You're parked in my driveway, it's not a spot, and you need to move
Man: do you see the street right now? There's no where to park (this was actually a problem since our street was small)
Mom: that's not my problem. Move your car or I'll call the police and they can make you move.
The man rolls his eyes, huffy, and moves the car. My mom still called the police because this was an ongoing issue. This was the first time someone out right parked in our driveway but we've had people completely block our driveway where there was no way we could get in or out. The police came for one day to monitor parking and then never again.

That last story reminds me of this one time when my brother and I were walking around a store looking for our dad as he had the shopping cart. We had gone to get something from one side of the store while my parents were taking care of other items on the list. Well, as we were walking around we saw our dad and started laughing and joking about how he disappeared so quickly, some guy and this girl apparently thought we were laughing at them and started threatening us. Thankfully we saw our mom at the help desk and just booked it over there and started explaining what was happening. She went momma bear and got security involved. Thinking on it now, they had to have been on something (not uncommon in the area). After we were done with the shopping, they were still outside and it looked like they were going to try to run us down.
It's unfortunate that some people are insecure in public and think that other people laughing while looking in someone else's direction means that they are making fun of them.

honestly, in story one I am surprised that the first people did not get a lawyer and charge the local PD with harassment. From the sound of it there was never any evidence for the warrants in the first place and after like the 3rd time they should have figured it the fuck out on their own. A good lawyer on that case would have moved them solidly into the upper class.

If you're going to live in a certain neighbourhood, you're going to have to live and play by the rules of the neighbourhood, and that includes playing music quietly, so that the neighbours can enjoy their lives. If you don't like it, you can always leave. Good luck with finding a neighbourhood also willing to tolerate one neighbour hogging more than one driveway.

Story one reminds of a drunk that caused trouble in our street at 4am in morning and he was ranting on how he can fight on any guy living in the street all the while banging at people’s doors and throwing trash all over the place. One of my neighbours is from Fiji and he plays rugby all the while he is a wall of muscle but he’s a total gentle giant. However, he was not too happy to be woken up a 4am in the morning by some drunk lout. That drunk got one hell of surprise when he saw my neighbour marching up to him. The drunk took off with his tail tucked under his leg.
I can say, if you think you’re a macho guy but just remember there is always a bigger guy out there.

But over the years too many entered the field and they drove wages into the ground so I just retired.. was rockin' when $100 an hour, but when offered $30 and they argue with you when you tell them the rate, I was tired of hearing their stories on how I should just accept the job and feel grateful.
