    Why have I never thought of using the flange as a funnel?? Thank you so much for showing that I’ve spilled so much milk lol. For me I don’t feel like the lansinoh bags are accurate. In February I started storing my milk again because beginning of March I returned to work. My daughter was in the NICU for a month and my stash was HUGE but when she got home I was too tired to pump and relied so much on the stash my supply took a huge dip. I would get barely an ounce when pumping. Drinking more water and being more consistent and doing those late night pumps I get 3.5-7 ounces when I pump now. Such a relief. I almost thought my breastfeeding journey was over. So anyone reading this don’t give up! I almost did and then my supply came back strong 💪🏽. Also a great app to use is huckleberry!! I love it. It tracks how long your baby sleeps, when they ate, when you pumped, their growth, any medication they need, and their temperature!!

    Thank you so much. Sadly my son is refusing the breast and after 6 weeks of fighting to breastfeed and developing PPD I am giving up on breastfeeding. I am now trying to come to terms with being an exclusive pumper and your videos helped and encouraged me so much.

      How did it turn out? Were you able to get enough milk supply to feed your baby using the pump? My baby is 4 weeks old and is struggling to nurse. He prefers the bottles. I wanted to breast him but at this point I might have to give up.

    • @sallypalmer1616

      @@arely890 exclusivly pumping worked out for us very well. He is 7 month old now and still only on breastmilk. Now I only pump 3x a day - 30min each pump (i started with 8x a day). I see a lot of advantages in it. My husband and I share the nights equally; my parents have him one day+night every month and those baby free days really recharge my batteries which helps me to be a better mom. A lot of the other moms envy me for those little freedoms :)

    When I gave birth to my daughter i stayed in the hospital for four days (had to have a emergency c-section) and had another women in the bed next to mine who had also given birth. She was so devastated because she could not get milk out of her breasts she would pump and pump and nothing and she would even try to get her daughter to breastfeed and nothing..she cried and I would hear her and would feel so bad for her. So to all those moms that barely pump an oz or just get enough to feed their babies be grateful always💕 cause some women would love to have been able to feed their babies. That's another lesson I learned is to be grateful that my daughter gets a full belly and that my body is able to produce milk for her💕💕

      I going through that .. I had a c section was in the hospital for 4 days .. delivered my twin daughters ..my milk never came in I can't even produce an ounce😭.. just recently has caused me so much anxiety..it's truly heart breaking..they're still in the NICU so between going there and pumping is exhausting!! I've skipped some at night pumping because I'm exhausted and then feel super guilty..
      I've spoken to a lactation consultant. She checked the flanges she said they were the right side..but now I'm thinking I'm using the wrong size.. I'm just so sad that I can't produce milk for my babies 😢😢 I feel like I'm not getting enough support.. I had a very nice nurse help me with latching but she was the only one .. most nurses in the NICU are not helping.. 😩 I never thought this would be so challenging and heart breaking!! 😭😭😭

    I sympathize with the loss of a whole pump. I once spilled a 16oz jar of milk, cried a lot over that. Glad to see others who pump exclusively, since i was warned to avoid pumping by people, but being a ftm was stressful trying to learn about my baby and his needs. I can pump enough for an extra meal every day now, which I stash for donation. Much love to you for making these videos

    I’m 3 weeks postpartum with my second baby. I exclusively pump and bottle feed. For now I get about 1400-1500 ml per 24 hours of 20-30 minutes of duration with Symphony.
    With my first baby, I usually get 15-16oz per pumping session by the 2-3 months postpartum. I’m hoping I’ll be able to do the same this time too. As I’d like to freeze as much as possible.
    All I did was eat and drink well and have a pumping schedule and stick to it as much as possible (sometimes I miss though).

      @hadleebarton7086 5 років тому +1

      Katherine Montes In the video, she uses Medela flanges with an adapter so she can use it with the Spectra pump. You can get a long stem back flow protector on amazon that goes into the medela flange so you can screw the Dr. Brown bottles directly onto the flange. Or there’s a standard cap adapter for spectra flanges on amazon that you screw into the spectra flange to use the Dr. Brown bottles with the spectra. Hope that makes sense!

    Please continue doing these videos! I tried exclusively pumping two years ago and I got nothing but negativity from a couple lactation consultants. Partnered with working full time, little support and feeling so overwhelmed as a new mom, we supplemented more and more before I stopped at 7 months. You are doing great! I had an undersupply with all 3 of my kids. Dropping a bottle was always a huge deal for me! My LC told me to always scrape the pump membranes against the rim of the bottle to get any milk that is trapped behind it. Sometimes there was a surprising amount behind the membrane and up into the flange connectors.

    This is so old, but, everybody has told me the best time to power pump, is in the morning. But I just can’t bring myself to do it because that’s when I get the most milk. And I feel like, if I’m not pumping the whole time, I’m not going to get as much. But I definitely need to do something because my milk supply has decreased within the past month. My daughter is eight weeks tomorrow, so I haven’t been pumping that long. But I am also an exclusive pumper. So every little bit of milk I can get, counts. When you power pump, did you do it in the morning? I’ve never been able to get 15 ounces in a pump. The most I ever got was 10. But I feel like if I were to power pump, I would only get like 3 or 4 ounces because you obviously have to rest so the amount of milk you would get out during that resting phase, you won’t get when you are power pumping. 😭😭😩 did power pumping make a difference in your supply? If so, I may just bite the bullet and do it. Also, do you have to do it in the morning? Or could you do it anytime?

      Huckleberry is also a free and good app! They have a special subscription for like sleep consultation for baby. But the app can still be used for free and no pop up ads. I love it

    Do you not wash and sanitise your parts after every pump?? Just wondering cos I do and of course it’s very daunting. I’m a new mum with a 4 week old so if I can take short cuts then I need to know 😂😝

      On amazon look for medela adapters. Then you can use medela parts with the spectra

    Whenever I use the lansinoh bags they leak out the bottom. kiinde is the best, followed by the target brand with the owl on them

    Do you wash your pump parts once a day? I wash with soap and hot water after every use and it's so time consuming! If I don't have to every time it would save me some time during the day.

    • @rebeccamelia7135

      If you put them in a ziplock bag in the fridge between uses, you only have to wash once at night.

    I just found your channel looking for exclusive pumpers. I have a baby with CHD on a feeding tube exclusively because she has a vocal cord paralyzed open from her first heart surgery. She also had a fundoplication done which caused a hypersensitive gag reflex. So, learning to eat orally just can't happen yet. It is impossibly difficult to find people online exclusively pumping for a tube fed baby/medical reasons. I recently had a round of mastitis which cut my milk supply in HALF! Despite pumping very often, I believe it was a supplement I was taking to help with the infection management. I am now doing power pumping trying to increase my supply again. My daughter is only 3 months and she has a very limited volume due to her heart condition (awaiting the next "big" heart surgery, needs to grow more!). She only gets 576 mL a day. We fortify with formula to a higher calorie. Even at half my supply, I produce enough for a day and then a little more. There is so much pressure, I feel, on women to make these massive freezer stashes on top of what they already breastfeed their babies. I find a lot of them end up donating the milk or never getting through it. I have to remember that if I make enough for her to eat in a day, we are golden. Thank you for taking the time to film all this for people like me!

    *Watching her drop 6 oz on the floor* And THATS why I instantly lid the freaking things, even when I'm not quite done pouring and have to turn around or look away for any reason, because the more paranoid I am about dropping them, the more I'm prone to spilling. Worst feeling in the world.

    I’m a FTM, she’s 3 weeks old. I have the spectra2 but can only pump 2-3 oz an hour. I have decent milk supply because if I hand express, it squirts everywhere. I was told the flange may be too big but please help if you can! Thanks

    • @masselin
      @masselin 5 років тому

      That's actually a lot, for only 3 weeks! If you can't see a lactation consultant to assess your flange size, you can just try ordering a smaller size of if Amazon! I also have a Spectra and even though I have G cup boobs, I need the 19mm flanges! Nipples come in all shapes and sizes, but if your areola is getting sucked into your flange, it's too big!

    Do you have different adapter accessories for your spectra? How are you able to pump into a Dr Brown or madela bottle? My spectra Falange only fits wide neck bottles so I can only pump into the spectra bottles 😞

    • @kimberlydonson7748
      @kimberlydonson7748 6 років тому

      AnnaV4710 she’s using a hack to hook her spectra pump to her other bottles. You can find it on pinterest or google.
      Also, you can get the big Avent bottles and they fit the spectra flanges!

      She has two pumps, she provably takes adapters from Medela and uses it with Spectra. The tubing is The same in every pump.
